Proudly collaborating with some of the finest actors, directors and playwrights in Los Angeles, Circle X will explore, rehearse and present these six readings free to the public. Each reading will be followed by a reception with the artists. Help shape our upcoming season by participating in our development process.

In 1401, a gorgeous young beer-brewer named Margery Kempe sets about trying to become a saint. Seduced by a vision of Jesus Christ in robes of purple -- her favorite color -- she battles her family, the church, and an intense appetite for earthly pleasures in an improbable bid for salvation.

Minneapolis, 1883. When Cyrus and Lottie, a couple from the North, take in Dinah and Dan, a vagabond couple from the South, subterranean desires emerge: Is Cyrus in love with Dinah,or Dan? Can Dinah stay in one place? Can Lottie keep her home in order even as dams break all around her?

The reading series is made possible in part by a grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs, city of Los Angeles.
