The Theatre Arts Department at California State University, Long Beach has announced the entertainment offerings for their theatrical fundraiser on Sunday, May 3rd. Art à la Carte: A Taste of All Things Theatre at CSULB, will be held from 5 to 8pm in the Theatre Arts building on the CSULB campus. Guests will enjoy food and refreshments and "choose their own adventure" from a menu of performances, lectures, and workshops.

Mayor Robert Garcia, Mort and Susan Stuhlbarg, Clifford L. Warner, and Alexandra Billings will be presented as honorees for their support of the Theatre Arts department and the arts in the Long Beach community. Followed by a sneak-peek selection from S/he & Me, an upcoming autobiographical show performed by CSULB faculty member and Golden Globe winner Alexandra Billings, and directed by Dr. Joanne Gordon.

The evening of celebration will begin with drinks and hors d'oeuvres, and the entertainment will kick off with a sensational undergraduate musical number. Guests will then be able to choose two activities, hosted throughout the Theatre Arts building, that offer a sampling of the dynamic work being done in the department. These include scenes from the new devised undergraduate work EPIC: IN or OUT directed by nationally acclaimed director Juliette Carrillo, selections from the student-written New Play Festival, a performance by the CSULB Queer Theatre Collective, curated short performances of physical theatre, and two Affinity Lecture Series events: a presentation on traditional Indian theatre for the 21st century by Dr. Shanti Pillai, and a discussion of applied political and theoretical dramatic engagement presented by Dr. Jaye Austin Williams.

Additionally, Art à la Carte will feature a tour of the annual Design Expo, showcasing the incredible work of the CSULB graduate and undergraduate costume, scenic, and lighting design students. This exciting glimpse into the future of theatrical design opens to the public on Tuesday, May 5th.

Tickets are $100, with a special $75 price for current CSULB students and recent alumni. Enhanced VIP packages are also available. Tickets can be purchased online at www.calrep.org.
