In celebration of Valentine's day, for the first time, Andrea Marcovicci presents a bouquet of love songs by one of America's most beloved collaborations - The brothers Gershwin.

A departure from her usual songbook series, "A Gershwin Valentine," focuses on the delight of romance found within the music of George Gershwin, the lyrics of his brother, Ira, the passionate rhythm of Edna St. Vincent Millay and other poets, and the warmth of a lover's eyes on the day we celebrate love.

"I can hardly believe, in all these years with all the shows that I've created, and all the Gershwin that I've sung, that I've never done a Gershwin evening!" Andrea reveals, with a hearty laugh. "I'm thrilled to share these great songs," she explains, "I've always wanted to sing 'Boy Wanted' because it's a very early Gertrude Lawrence number from 1921. Plus, I've discovered some of the earliest material, like 'I Was So Young and You Were So Beautiful' from 1919, and I've fallen in love with the funny little chestnut, 'Blah, Blah, Blah'."

Additional selections include: Embraceable You, He Loves and She Loves, I've Got A Crush On You, Isn't It a Pity, Let's Call The Whole Thing Off, Someone To Watch Over Me, S'Wonderful, and The Man I Love.

A Gershwin Valentine is set for this weekend, Feb. 13 & 14, 2015, Fri. & Sat. at 9:00pm at The Gardenia, 7066 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood CA 90038 (Corner of LaBrea). Reservations (with dinner only) (323) 467-7444.
