As part of Black History Month, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is proud to support the Pan African Film Festival's screening in Los Angeles of the groundbreaking HIV/AIDS documentary film 'Wilhemina's War' on Friday, February 12th at the Rave Cinemas, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (4020 Marlton Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90008). A Red Carpet Gala arrival featuring the film's Wilhemina; her granddaughter, Dayshal, who has been living with HIV since birth; R&B singer Monica; Gospel and crossover artist B.Slade and June Cross, the documentary's director, among others, will take place from 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The film will screen from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The film, which was produced and directed by AHF Grant Fund recipient June Cross, follows a Southern grandmother's struggles to help her loved ones through the scourge of HIV in a state hostile to public health care. The February 12th screening & gala is SOLD OUT. However, a second screening will take place on Sunday, February 14th at 4:00 p.m. at the RAVE Cinemas, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. Tickets for the February 14th screening can be purchased in advance via Holman United Methodist Church (323.731.7285) starting at $15. Seating is limited.

"'Wilhemina's War' is a poignant, eye-opening documentary that truly sheds light on the ongoing struggles we face in combating HIV stigma and the lingering barriers that prevent people living with HIV/AIDS from accessing care and treatment," said Cynthia Davis, MPH, Assistant Professor, College of Medicine, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and Chair of AHF's Board of Directors. "We are so proud that AHF was able to support the filmmaker June Cross through the AHF Grant Fund and know that we will continue to see great things from her."
