The details are:

THURSDAY, APRIL 22, 2009
3:30 - 4:45pm
Pop Goes the Music(al)
Now that pop music is here to stay in the Broadway musical, (consider the fact that music by Green Day, U2, The Flaming Lips, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and others are all set for a Broadway bow), it's time to take an in-depth look at the American musical and how it can accommodate the infusion of such a different musical style. Each genre has its own traditions...but working together successfully is easier said than done.

MODERATORS: Stephen Bray, Songwriter - "Express Yourself," "Papa Don't
Preach" Broadway: The Color Purple and Amy Powers, President - Powers
That Be Inc., Songwriter - "Shine," "Not Just Make Believe" Broadway: Sunset
Blvd., Zhivago
Desmond Child, Songwriter, Producer - "Dude (Looks Like a
Lady)," "Invisible," "Livin' La Vida Loca"
Chris Montan, President - Walt Disney Music
Lou Spisto, CEO/Executive Producer - The Old Globe Theatre
