In August last year, about 700 Filipino theater fans' Facebook-based petition to bring the smash Broadway musical 'Wicked' to Manila was deemed successful; the 'Ozian' stage spectacle opened at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) five months later, which ran 42 performances. Apparently, these fans are at it again: a newly created Facebook-based petition page to bring the critically-acclaimed reimagined production of Sir Cameron Mackintosh's LES MISERABLES to Manila is up and running--engaging every visitor to like its cause! The beautiful, exciting, and comprehensive recording was captured at the Wales Millennium Centre in 2009. North Carolina Theatre is taking on an iconic work of musical theater with their current staging of LES MISERABLES. Such a piece is quite a feat to put on, and to do it well is a great undertaking, but NC Theatre manages to accomplish something spectacular by combining the best talent of the Triangle with amazing New York actors. The result is a production which does justice to the cultural monolith which is Les Mis. It's a perfect production for die-hard fans and first-timers alike. (more...)

After months of rampant public speculation, Drayton Entertainment's Artistic Director Alex Mustakas today announced Les Miserables as the organization's flagship production for the 2014 Season. The coup is the result of Mustakas trying for years to secure the rights to one of the biggest and most successful productions in Broadway history. The epic musical will take centre stage at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge June 11th to August 2nd, and theHuron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend August 7th to August 30th. (more...)

If you were a passerby outside The Princess of Wales Saturday night, you might have thought there was a rock concert going on inside. The audience reaction when Colm Wilkinson, the man who originated the role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, stepped on stage was nothing short of deafening. That level of energy continued throughout the night as Wilkinson performed alongside Ramin Karimloo, who was inspired to become a musical theatre performer after seeing Wilkinson in the original Canadian production of The Phantom of the Opera. Rehearsals begin Monday, January 13 in New York for Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Alain Boublil & Claude-Michel Schonberg's Tony Award-winning musical masterpiece LES MISERABLES, which returns to Broadway beginning Saturday, March 1 at the Imperial Theatre. The official opening night for LES MISERABLES is Sunday, March 23. The cast of the new LES MIZ features Ramin Karimloo (West End and current acclaimed Toronto star of LES MISERABLES, and The Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies in London) as Jean Valjean; Will Swenson (Tony Award-nominated star of Broadway's Hair and Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Javert; Caissie Levy (West End and Broadway star of Ghost and Hair and Elphaba in Broadway's Wicked) as Fantine; Nikki M. Most recently wowing North American audiences as Enjolras on LES MISERABLES' 25th Anniversary Tour, Jason Forbach played with the idea of revolutionary for his latest CD single REVOLUTIONARY. In creating the song, he pulled from his experiences on the barricades and wrote "Revolution" with Wesley King.
