Bernadette Peters Headlines 'Unforgettable Evening' for Patchogue Theatre, Broadway Barks Tonight

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) will present one of Broadway's brightest stars - Bernadette Peters in "An Unforgettable Evening" on the Patchogue Theatre Main Stage, tonight, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. Peters will help Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts raise money for its new marquee as well as a her charity organization with Mary Tyler Moore, Broadway Barks.

Prior to Peters' performance, there will be a Gala cocktail reception at Public House 49 beginning at 6 p.m. with open bar and light fare served. Patchogue's chocolatier Kilwins will host a special dessert reception in the Theatre Lobby following the show for Gala ticket holders.

Throughout her illustrious career, Tony Award-winning actress Bernadette Peters has dazzled audiences and critics with her performances on stage and television, in concert, and on recordings. Peters currently stars in Amazon Prime's hit television series, "Mozart in the Jungle," which won the 2016 Golden Globe for "Best TV Comedy or Musical Series."

Her recent stage credits include City Center's Encores! Production, "A BED A CHAIR: A New York Love Affair," featuring music by Stephen Sondheim and orchestrations by Wynton Marsalis. Prior to that she starred on Broadway in the Stephen Sondheim / James Goldman critically acclaimed production of "Follies," following a successful run at the Kennedy Center. She also starred opposite Elaine Stritch in the Stephen Sondheim / Hugh Wheeler Tony Award-winning masterpiece, "A Little Night Music."

In addition to her Tony-Award winning career as an actress and singer, Peters added author and songwriter to her roster of achievements with her debut children's book, "Broadway Barks," aptly named after the organization she co-founded with her good friend, Mary Tyler Moore. The book landed on the New York Times Bestseller list shortly after publication. The organization's annual star-studded animal adoption event takes place in Shubert Alley in the heart of New York City's theater district, and benefits over 20 animal shelters in and around the New York City area. The book package includes a CD recording of an original song written and sung by the author. Her second children's book, "Stella is a Star," features yet another of her original songs, of which all proceeds from the sale of both books go to Broadway Barks. Recently, Peters published her third children's book, "Stella and Charlie: Friends Forever," that also benefits the organization.

Peters has received numerous accolades throughout her distinctive career, ranging from her Tony Awards to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Bernadette devotes her time and talents to numerous events that benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, in addition to her "pet project" Broadway Barks. A native of Ozone Park, New York, Peters currently resides in New York City and Los Angeles with her rescue dogs, Charlie and Rosalia.

Tickets for "Bernadette Peters: An Unforgettable Evening" are available online, by phone or at the box office. Ticket prices for Peters' performance range from $65 to $175 plus fee. Gala tickets for the cocktail reception at Public House 49 on 49 East Main Street in Patchogue at 6 p.m., and the dessert reception hosted by Kilwins in the Theatre Lobby following her performance are $65. Gala tickets do not include admission to the show. A limited number of backstage VIP meet & greet passes are also available for $250. Ticket proceeds will benefit Patchogue Theatre's New Marquee Fund and Broadway Barks. Patchogue Theatre first opened in 1923 as the largest theatre in Suffolk County. It still is, with the installation of 1,104 brand new seats during the 2016 renovation. Saved by Village of Patchogue in 1996 and lovingly restored it to its original grandeur, this beautiful and historic venue was in use 230 days with over 150,000 in attendance for its 2014-2015 season. PTPA is an independent community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that leases the building from the Village of Patchogue and covers all of the operating costs without any subsidies from the Village. PTPA's leadership consists of a volunteer board of directors and a small professional staff.
