TheatreSquared Presents BOEING-BOEING 9/1

The fast-paced comedy Boeing-Boeing, a Tony Award winner for Best Revival in its 2008 Broadway production, launches TheatreSquared's Season 6 next Thursday, September 1 at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios. Directed by four-time T2 comedy veteran Morgan Hicks, a company co-founder, Boeing-Boeing is an updated take on the classic "seven-door" farce-requiring fast-paced physical comedy, wit, and virtuoso performances from the cast. Boeing-Boeing features Bernard, an architect living in Paris, who's using airline itineraries to keep his three air hostess fiancées blissfully unaware of each other-until the advent of a faster jet engine brings them all together at once. The production will run for 20 performances in the intimate Studio Theatre at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios from September 1-25, with performances Thursday at 7:30, Friday at 7:30, Saturday at 2:00 and 7:30, and Sunday at 2:00 and 7:00.

In Marc Camoletti's Boeing-Boeing, Bernard (Jim Goza), an architect living in 1960s Paris, thinks he's worked out the perfect romantic con. He's simultaneously engaged to three airline hostesses-from Alitalia, Lufthansa, and TWA-and, by the grace of the published timetables, their international layovers never intersect. As the play begins, college pal Robert (Chris Crawford) has arrived unexpectedly for a stay in the city, and-unknown to Bernard-Boeing has just debuted its new "super" jet engine. As housekeeper Berthe (Erika Wilhite) struggles to keep the international dinner menus straight, the phone begins to ring with early arrival announcements-and it soon becomes clear that Bernard's romantic layovers are in for a bit of turbulence. The play's recent Broadway production, translated from the French by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans, won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Revival amidst widespread critical acclaim from the national press.

The professional cast for Boeing-Boeing includes: Chris Crawford as Robert, Jim Goza as Bernard (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare-Abridged, Every Christmas Story Ever Told), Jenny Guy as Gretchen (‘Twas the Night, Lily's Purple Plastic Purse), Paloma Nozicka as Gabriella, Niccole Thurman as Gloria and Erika Wilhite as Berthe. The creative team includes: Morgan Hicks (director), who also directed The Mystery of Irma Vep, Fully Committed, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare-Abridged and Every Christmas Story Ever Told at T2; Shawn Irish (scenic designer), whose has designed eleven productions for T2 including last season's The 39 Steps; Michael Riha (lighting and sound designer), who previously designed lighting for Reasons to Be Pretty, Sundown Town and scenery for Every Christmas Story Ever Told and Rabbit Hole; Joseph Fletcher (stage manager); Emily Tomlinson (prop master); and Josh Tillotson (production head).

Boeing-Boeing is the first production of TheatreSquared's Season 6, which continues with It's a Wonderful Life (Dec. 8-Jan 1), Tigers Be Still (Feb. 9-March 4) and The Fall of the House (April 12-May 6).
