TheatreSquared will extend its production of the off-Broadway critic's pick Murder for Two to meet demand after a sold-out opening weekend. Performances will now continue through June 5, 2016, adding six performances to its initial run.

In this multi-award-winning new musical comedy, a small-town policeman dreams of making it to detective-and one fateful night, his opportunity arrives in the form of a dead Great American Novelist. One actor plays the policeman, the other plays the suspects, and both play the piano in this whip-smart, winking homage to an old-fashioned theatrical murder mystery. Morgan Hicks (Noises Off, Boeing-Boeing) directs the madcap performance with James Taylor Odom (One Man, Two Guvnors) as the suspects and Brian Walters as the detective. Performances are scheduled for May 12-June 5, 2016, with tickets ($15-$40) available at theatre2.org or (479) 443-5600.

"It's 90 minutes of pure entertainment," said T2 Artistic Director Robert Ford. "It's also a brilliantly clever, virtuosic piece of theatre that takes the conventions of the musical and the murder mystery, tosses them in a blender, and deliciously twists them."

Murder for Two, a Critic's Pick by the New York Times, Time Out NY, and New York Magazine, was nominated for the 2014 Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Off-Broadway Alliance Awards. The New York Observer called it "a hilarious musical whodunit."

The lead creative team for Murder for Two includes musical director Jason Burrow, scenic and lighting designer Shawn Irish, sound designer Will Eubanks, costume designer Ruby Kemph, properties manager Brodie Jasch, technical director Josh Tillotson, and stage manager David Loranca.

Morgan Hicks, director, previously directed TheatreSquared's Noises Off, Boeing-Boeing, Every Christmas Story Ever Told, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), The Mystery of Irma Vep, Fully Committed, The History Show and The Poe Show, which she co-wrote with Kris Stoker and Jordan Haynes. She serves as T2's director of education and program development, and previously served as general manager of Writer's Theatre in Chicago and company manager of BareStage.

Murder for Two is recommended for ages 12+ (brief adult language). The production is made possible in part with support from lead show sponsors Nick and Carolyn Cole, as well as show sponsors Roger Collins, Steve and Linda Nelson, and John and Kitten Weiss.
