Tickets Go on Sale 10/24 for The Smith Center's 2014-15 Winter/Spring Season

Tickets for the 2014-2015 Winter/Spring Season at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts are on sale now. The all-star lineup boasts award-winning musicians, speakers, special attractions, family programming and returning favorites.
New for the season is a Design Your Own Series for The Smith Center presented performances, excluding Broadway, resident company or Cabaret Jazz shows. The more you see, the more you save. Offered for the January through May season, the graduated discounts offer 5%, 10% and 15% discounts when 3-4 shows, 5-6 shows or 7+ shows, respectively, are purchased together.
Tickets for individual performances begin at $12.95. Single show tickets and the Design Your Own Series go on sale Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. at The Smith Center Box Office, located at 361 Symphony Park Ave., by phone at 702-749-2000 or online at www.TheSmithCenter.com. This American Life host Ira Glass has been working with Monica Bill Barnes & Company to invent a show that combines two art forms that - as Glass puts it - "have no business being together - dance and radio." One is all words and no visuals. One is all visuals and no words. The result is a funny, lively and very talky evening of dance and stories that brought down the house in its first test run at Carnegie Hall. "What makes it work," says Glass, "is a shared sensibility. As dancers, Monica and Anna are these amazingly relatable and funny storytellers without words."

Platinum-selling, 14-year-old vocal sensation Jackie Evancho returns with her third studio album, Awakening, and coinciding international tour. Awakening signals some new directions for Evancho. Without foregoing the beautiful and lush classical-crossover compositions for which Evancho has become famous, she also extends her stylistic reach with contemporary material on songs such as the haunting folk song "The Rains of Castamere" from HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. She also takes a bigger step forward on her version of U2's "With or Without You." Moreover, Evancho sings several original songs including the anthem "Take Me There" and "Open Fields of Grace."

Widely regarded as one of the world's leading orchestras, The London Symphony Orchestra brings together the greatest players from across the globe to amaze and astound audiences. Bruce Hornsby's work displays a creative iconoclasm that's been a constant in the artist's two-and-a-half decade recording career. Despite his early mainstream successes, Hornsby pursued a more personal, idiosyncratic musical path, focusing on projects that sparked his creative interest, including collaborations with the Grateful Dead, Spike Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Don Henley, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Metheny and Robbie Robertson. No individual has played a more pivotal role in shaping Broadway than director/producer Hal Prince. With a record-setting 21 Tony Awards and more than 50 musicals, plays and operas to his credit, Prince's lengthy resume includes many of the most exceptional musicals of the past six decades including West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Evita and Phantom of the Opera. During this moderated interview, Prince will reflect on his legendary career complemented by live performances of his works sung by soloists interlaced throughout the evening.
