The Smith Center Adds UNDER THE STREETLAMP, JOHNNY MATHIS, AND 50 SHADES! THE MUSICAL - THE ORIGINAL PARODY To Spring/Summer Schedule

The Smith Center is excited to add three additional shows to the spring/early summer season in Reynolds Hall with Under The Streetlamp with special guests Gentleman's Rule and Johnny Mathis in May and 50 Shades! The Musical - The Original Parody in June.

With their unique style and modern "Rat Pack" persona, Under The Streetlamp brings the American Radio Songbook to a whole new level. With the mantra "Retro never sounded so now," the four extremely talented and charismatic former cast members of the Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical "Jersey Boys" provide an electrifying concert.

Backed by an outstanding ten-piece band, singers Michael Ingersoll, Shonn Wiley, Michael Cunio and Christopher Kale Jones bring classic hits of the '50s, '60s and '70s back to the millions of fans who fell in love with this music in the first place. The show includes a perfect balance of tender ballads and uptempo tunes, all done with the same signature harmonies and slick dance moves that have made them irresistible. Of course no Under The Streetlamp show would be complete without a musical tribute to "Jersey Boy" Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

From the creator of Straight No Chaser and the producer and manager of Under The Streetlamp, Gentleman's Rule exudes youth, energy and incredible harmonies. Gentleman's Rule blends their youthful style and outstanding vocals with timeless classics and contemporary hits. Their diverse music selections include songs by the legendary Manhattans, Bill Withers, the Rolling Stones, Rascal Flatts and the Spencer Davis Band, just to name a few.

The eight versatile and individually talented vocalists in Gentleman's Rule are Will Lockhart, Brent Mann, Luke Mechlin, Holland Nightenhelser, Jasper Smith, Jesse Townes, Andrew Morstein and TJ Breen. Catch Under The Streetlamp with Gentleman's Rule Sunday, May 4.

Celebrating his 58th year in the music industry, Johnny Mathis is Columbia Records' longest-running artist. A sublime vocalist whose approach to pop music eclipses passing fads and trends, Mathis has performed songs in an incredible variety of styles and categories -- from music composed for stage and film to golden era jazz standards, contemporary pop hits, and holiday music -- all of which has assured his reputation as one of the most enduring vocalists in music history.

Best-known for his supremely popular hits like "Chances Are," "It's Not For Me To Say" and "Misty," Mathis has recorded more than 80 albums and has had 50 hits on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart. During his extensive career he has had three songs inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and in 2003 Mathis was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. On Friday, May 3, Mathis returns to Las Vegas to perform some of his greatest hits and personal favorites.

50 Shades! The Musical - The Original Parody has played to sold-out audiences in New York, Chicago and beyond. Opening with a ladies book club deciding to read "Fifty Shades of Grey," the musical is an interpretation of the best-selling novel that takes audiences on a hilarious musical roller coaster ride. The production features a cast of nine performing 11 original songs, dance numbers, as well as an on-stage band. Original songs include "They Get Nasty," "I Don't Make Love," and "There's a Hole Inside of Me."

The show is a parody of both the books and the phenomenon of "50 Shades of Grey," spoofing many of their conventions for a hilarious evening of entertainment. Like the book series, 50 Shades! The Musical is not for those under the age of 18, but does not cross boundaries that would make general audiences squirm. Unleash your inhibitions with 50 Shades! The Musical Saturday, June 7.
