With Halloween in the air the Onyx Theatre continues its Tenth Anniversary Season by presenting Qui Nguyen's comic adventure She Kills Monsters, directed by Asylum Theatre's Sarah O'Connell.

A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's refuge.

"This was one of those rare scripts that I couldn't put down," says Producing Director Troy Heard, "So when Sarah mentioned it was on her bucket list, it immediately made our season. I was literally fist pumping with excitement the first time I read it. It contains so much teenaged geeky greatness, with heart to spare. "

It's also one of the largest shows the Onyx has produced with copious amounts of stage combat, heavy weaponry, giant puppets and a 1990s soundtrack. "We have an amazing young cast with so much energy, we felt the need to amp up production value across the board," says Heard. "Qui's New York company, Vampire Cowboys, specializes in this kind of 'geek theatre' we're peppering throughout the season, and the best way we thought to introduce it to our audience is with some fantastic puppet work and massive fight scenes. We want the audience to get the rush they have at a summer action movie."

Performances of She Kills Monsters will be October 15 through 31, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm. with a Sunday matinee on October 25 at 5 pm. Tickets are $20 for General Admission. There is a limited amount of $10 Student Rush tickets available at the Box Office ten minutes before each performance for patrons eighteen years and younger with student I.D. General Admission tickets may be purchased online at www.onyxtheatre.com or at the Box Office an hour before show time.
