The Onyx Theatre opens its Tenth Anniversary Season with the popular Broadway hit Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The Tony Award-winning rock musical is written by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, and directed by Troy Heard.

"The theatre gods were smiling upon us when we received the phone call from New York granting us the rights to Hedwig," says Heard. "It's still having a successful run on Broadway following its Tony win and is planning a national tour, so this was a very rare opportunity."

This groundbreaking musical tells the story of "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, a fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with just "an angry inch." It was adapted into a popular film featuring Mitchell in 2001.

Local actor Cory Benway reprises the role of Hedwig, which he played during a critically-acclaimed run at Insurgo Theatre in 2010. He is joined by rocker Jamie Riviere as Yitzhak and backed by a four piece rock band.

Tickets are $25 for General Admission and $28 for VIP, which includes splash zone seating and limited edition swag.
