ORPHAN BLUES, THE GOSPEL MUSICAL chronicles a multi-racial universe of homeless kids between the ages of 6 to 19 living in a Las Vegas homeless shelter on a quest to help oNe Young girl, 6 year old Angel, find her birth father. Youth shelter owner, "Nanny Rebecca" introduces an array of colorful characters that help little Angel understand she can achieve greatness even without her birth parents being a part of her life and in spite of the negative surrounding her. Nanny Rebecca also helps Angel to see that there is only one Father who can pick her up, turn her life around, and place her feet on solid ground regardless of any circumstance.
Written by the cast and directed by Torrey A. Russell, ORPHAN BLUES, THE GOSPEL MUSICAL casts actors who embody resilience, courage and strength and who has themselves survived homelessness, death from domestic & gang violence, prostitution and sexual abuse. Together with several of Las Vegas' top gospel singers (including Vanessa Williams-Jackson, Tina Leeper, Stephanie Anderson, Derrick Lo), this multi-talented ensemble will have you clapping your hands, stomping your feet, and shouting hallelujah in the aisles with a musical score comprised from some of Broadway and gospel's greatest hits.
