The Jersey Boys have moved south - at least in Las Vegas, that is. The show has moved from the Palazzo Resort Hotel in Las Vegas a few blocks south to Paris Las Vegas, taking up residence in the theater the hotel refurbished when Barry Manilow opened there in March 2010.

The theater remains beautiful and the show is still first-rate and well worth seeing.

The night they invited press, the part of Frankie Valli was played by Travis Cloer who simply owns the part. (I've never seen the "other" Frankie, Graham Fenton. I look forward to doing so someday) As did Rick Faugno before him in Las Vegas, Fenton becomes Frankie Valli, taking him on the journey from teen to adult, living through loss and triumph.

The other three seasons - Jeff Liebow (as Nick Massi), Deven May (as Tommy DeVito) and Rob Marnell (as Bob Gaudio) - are also terrific. Together with the rest of the cast, the four main characters give great credibility to the notion that Las Vegas entertainment is great entertainment.

As it has been since it opened in Las Vegas in 2008, Jersey Boys is extraordinarily well done. The choreography of Sergio Trujillo, the sets by Klara Zieglerove are spare but just detailed enough to be perfect. In fact, every element of the show is as good as it is anywhere else.

As always, the audience at Jersey Boys is part of the theatergoing experience. They cheer and applaud as their favorite songs are performed as if they were watching the real Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It is a spontaneous outpouring of affection for the music and the music makers.

Even after three times, seeing Jersey Boys is like opening a beautiful gift. It is a gift from all involved to the people in Las Vegas - whether residents or visitors. It is a gift that defines entertainment and, in fact, a gift to be cherished.

You can see it at the Paris Theatre at 7 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday; 6:30 and 9:30 on Tuesday and Saturday. Dark on Monday. Tickets range from $100 to $226.
