A Source of Joy Theatricals is proud to announce its residency for the 2015-2016 Broadway In The Hood series at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. An array of five Broadway plays and musicals will be presented between September 2015 and May 2016 designed exclusively to utilize Troesh Studio Theater, Cabaret Jazz and Reynolds Hall. The productions will feature a local cast of singers, dancers, and actors who are a part of Broadway In The Hood's educational and training program.

"I'm honored and beyond thrilled to have Broadway In The Hood's home at The Smith Center. For many years I have admired Myron Martin, the fantastic staff, and crew of The Smith Center," said Torrey Russell, founder of A Source of Joy Theatricals. "It is rare today to find a theatre where the patrons and staff are dedicated to reaching out to the community and to a young organization such as ours."

Since Broadway in the Hood's inception in 2010, the organization has been committed to developing new voices and fresh talent. Upon opening its doors in 2012, The Smith Center has focused on making performing arts accessible to all. This new partnership will open doors for local and national young artists from impoverished communities. Russell is honored to take the baton as the Artistic Director for the first resident theatre company to be hosted at The Smith Center.

Broadway In The Hood plans to bring nationally recognized productions at an affordable price for those in the Las Vegas Valley. They have performed a plethora of amazing Tony Award-winning Broadway productions as well as their own originals. Productions include smash hits such as "Once On This Island" and "The Color Purple." They have also put on performances for legends such as Whoopi Goldberg and Maya Angelou and have made numerous appearances on TV shows including TVOne's hit show "R&B Divas LA," and "Open Doors & Dreams," a PBS special.

"I've always thought of The Smith Center as the living room of Las Vegas, a place where the community can come together and be inspired," said Myron Martin, president and CEO of The Smith Center. "I was pleased when Broadway in the Hood participated in our Sesquicentennial concert event, and I now look forward to once again welcoming Torrey and his group to our stages. We can't wait to see what they bring to life with their productions."
