Lyle Lovett Performs with Kansas City Symphony Then Launches Summer Tour

Four time Grammy Award-winning artist Lyle Lovett will make a special guest appearance with the Kansas City Symphony tonight at the 2010 Symphony in the Flint Hills. The sunset concert for several thousand takes place at outdoors in the picturesque tallgrass prairie of Chase County, Kansas. Lovett will perform three songs with the symphony; "If I Had a Boat," "Which Way Does That Old Pony Run" and "Natural Forces," the title track to his newest album.

Lovett narrated the PBS special "The Last Stand of the Tallgrass Prairie" and supports Symphony in the Flint Hills non-profit efforts of to heighten appreciation and awareness of the Kansas Flint Hills.

Lovett then gears up to launch a 37-city North American summer tour with his extraordinary Large Band in support of Natural Forces. The tour kicks off on June 18, marking Lovett's fifth Telluride Bluegrass Festival appearance and continues through August 21 at the Hot August Blues festival in Cockeysville, Maryland. Highlights include Los Angeles (7/23), Chicago (8/6), Toronto (8/10), Vienna, VA (8/17) and Red Rocks (7/30) which will be recorded and aired on 270 radio stations across the country via eTown.

Lovett's tour with the Large Band comes on the heels of a 22-city international tour which included a series of European dates and a debut tour of Australia.

For nearly three decades, Lyle Lovett has defined the modern Texas singer-songwriter. Fusing elements of the blues, country, folk, gospel and jazz - in a career that spans 14 albums and more than four million records sold-Lovett has created his own style of Americana, defying convention and breaking down barriers along the way.
