40 Dance Company: Transformations
Lawrence's professional, contemporary dance company, will present Transformations, a concert for healing self and community, on Tuesday, January 26th at 7 pm at the Lawrence Arts Center. The tickets will be $5 for all ages. The residents and staff of First Step at Lakeview will be special guests at the performance. First Step at Lakeview is a half-way house for women recovering from drug or alcohol addiction.

Fast Johnny Ricker and Friends
Rock out and support the Lawrence Arts Center on Friday, January 29th at 730pm! Music at the Center presents another great singer/songwriter night, hosted by Fast Johnny Ricker. Performers include Davis Ricker, Two Headed Cow, Preston Girard, and Rayyan Kamal. A $5 donation at the door benefits the Lawrence Arts Center; a full bar and concessions will be available.

Paul Mesner Puppets: Anansi the Spider
Join us on Saturday, January 30th as the ever-popular Paul Mesner and his team of puppeteers return to the Lawrence Arts Center to benefit the Arts-Based Preschool Scholarship Fund. This year, the professional puppet theater company presents a collection of classic folk tales from Africa and the Caribbean, adapted by Paul Mesner himself. The Common denominator is Anansi, the trickster spider, who sometimes finds himself getting tricked. Two shows will be performed, one at 10am and one at 1pm; tickets are on sale NOW. This delightful show is perfect for children ages 3 and older (and grownups will enjoy it, too). Sponsored by Black Hills Energy.

The Lawrence Arts Center will be hosting its Annual Souper Bowl Saturday sale on Saturday, February 6th from 11am-2pm. This event has people lining up early to purchase unique handmade ceramic bowls donated by area artists, community members and students. Proceeds from the event benefit the Ceramics program in the LAC Art Education department.

Bonnie and Clyde vs Dracula
The award-winning Bonnie & Clyde vs. Dracula, an independently produced action-horror feature film, is the latest selection for the Free State Traveling Picture Show series sponsored by the Kansas Film Commission - and it's coming to the Lawrence Arts Center just in time for Valentine's Day! Join us Saturday, February 13th at 7pm for a special screening of this soon-to-be cult classic. Tickets are only $5 and refreshments will be available.

City Youth Theatre: don't u luv me?
Christie Dobson's production of the Linda Daugherty play, don't u luv me?, is a co-production with GaDuGi SafeCenter and addresses issues like cyber bullying, dating violence and other social interactions of importance to teenagers. After its Arts Center debut, the show will tour several area junior high and high schools. Performances are Friday, February 19th and Saturday, February 20th at 7pm. Tickets are $8.50 for adults and $6.50 for students and seniors.
