When the curtain goes up for Kansas City Repertory Theatre's production of John Kander and Fred Ebb's hit Broadway musical Cabaret, the audience will be transported back in time to an exciting, decadent cabaret world of pre-war WW II Berlin. The Rep's artistic director Eric Rosen will direct. Music director is Anthony T. Edwards and choreography is by Richard J. Hinds. Cabaret runs March 18-April 10 at Spencer Theatre.

For the first time in its 46-year-history, the Rep is presenting a show on a specially-designed 360-degree, rotating theatre-in-the-round stage. Special on-stage risers have been built for theatre-lovers who choose to experience Cabaret from a unique, behind-the-scenes perspective; in addition to enjoying the show's revolving set, they will see the run crew, scenery load-in, actors in the wings and other activities not scene by the house audience. There will also be a limited number of cabaret tables located around the stage perimeter, on both sides of the proscenium.

Returning to KC Rep after his star turn as the Wolf and Cinderella's Prince in Moisés Kaufman's Into the Woods (2009), is Claybourne Elder as Clifford Bradshaw (Bonnie and Clyde, La Jolla Playhouse and upcoming Broadway premiere). He is joined by Kara Lindsay as Sally Bowles (National tour: Little House on the Prairie, also at Guthrie Theatre); Hollis Resnik as Fräulein Schneider (The Light in the Piazza-Arena Stage; Grey Gardens-Philadelphia Theatre Co.; Man of La Mancha-Long Wharf Theatre, Court Theatre) and Brian Sills as Master of Ceremonies (The 24 Hour Plays-Broadway; The Lion King-Broadway national tour).

Cabaret runs March 18-April 10 (preview week is March 18-March 24, opening night is March 25) at Spencer Theatre in the James C. Olson Performing Arts Center, 4949 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Tickets for on-stage seating are $30-$70. Cabaret table tickets are $199 for a table for two, including refreshments. Regular house seats are $20-$60.
