Kansas City Actors Theatre, in collaboration with the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, is presenting a free staged reading of The Beard of Avon on Sunday, February 26th at 2:00 pm at the H&R Block City Stage in Union Station.

Presented as part of HASF's "25 for the 25th" celebration of their 25th anniversary, this delicious and witty farce by Amy Freed fashions the longstanding debate over who really penned Shakespeare's canon into a merry look at the mortality of artists and the immortality of their legacy. Seen for the first time in Kansas City, this bawdy love letter to language and theatre has been described by noted critic Robert Brustein as satire "worthy of Monty Python."

This script-in-hand reading of The Beard of Avon will be directed by Sidonie Garrett and will feature the talents of KCAT Board members Cinnamon Schultz, Victor Raider-Wexler and John Rensenhouse along with HASF regulars Matt Rapport, Andy Perkins, Jason Chanos and Roan Ricker.

Join in on Sunday, February 26, 2:00 p.m. at H&R Block's City Stage at Union Station for what's sure to be a very good time. The performance is FREE for general admission but reservations are required; please RSVP to john@kcactors.org.

The Beard of Avon is a part of The Kansas City Actors Theatre's Season 12 Reading Series, which has been made possible by the generosity of Rick and Barbie Dierks.
