We will close the 2016/2017 Season with "Siegfried", the third episode of Richard Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen".

"Siegfried" recounts the coming of age of Siegfried, the son of Siegmund and Sieglinde. Raised by Mime, Alberich's brother, Siegfried re-forges the magical sword Nothung, defeats Fafner who has transformed into a dragon and awakens Brünnhilde, sleeping on a rock.

The cast includes Stephen GOULD as Siegfried in at least his 50th appearance in the role to date. Ricarda MERBETH will play Brünnhilde, while Der Wanderer will be played by Greer GRIMSLEY (also appearing in the 2016/2017 Season as Wotan in "Die Walküre"). Recurring roles from "Das Rheingold" in 2015 include Andreas CONRAD as Mime, Thomas GAZHELI as Alberich and Christian HÜBNER as Fafner.

This production will be conducted by IIMORI Taijiro, the Artistic Director of Opera and the production is by Götz FRIEDRICH.
