Feature: Suar Artspace to launch PESTA CERITA: Celebrating Children's Imagination and Literacy

On Saturday, February 25th, Suar and POST Santa will held PEST CERITA in Suar Artspace, to celebrate children's literature. The event will be filled with workshops, a book fair and art, storytelling picnic, illustrations exhibition, book talks, and musical performances.

PESTA CERITA is the first collaboration opportunity between Suar and POST involving a child's world. "Although we did not specifically engaged in children's world, but neither POST nor Suar engaged in the creative field, too. Creativity is born from an active imagination and we feel that the future of the children is an important period to develop courage to be creative.", said Nin Djani, spokesman for Suar.

Focusing on child literacy, PESTA CERITA is a suitable closing event for TELL TALE exhibition has taken place in Suar during February. PESTA CERITA appreciate such variety of children's stories as a starting point for the growth of imagination and creativity - two things that drive Suar and POST from the beginning until today. PESTA CERITA event will be held from 13:00 to 18:30 in Suar Artspace, Jalan Lebak Bulus I no 55 with the following activities:

- Picture Book 101 workshop with Rassi Narika from Seumpama Books
- Book donation stalls by Lemari Buku-Buku community, where the patrons who donated the book will get a a painted pothrait photo by volunteer illustrators in return. These books will be sent to the library and reading room around Indonesia. PESTA CERITA will also present book exchanges and stationery from a number of shop or independent book publishing: POST Santa, Seumpama Books, Bababaa, PEPA - People and Paper, and Anakayu.
- Storybooks stock and reading room decor: POST, Rubrik+Konteks, Bababaa, Anakayu, PEPA. PESTA CERITA exhibits illustration works in two children's books: Aku, Meps dan Beps illustrated by Cecilia Hidayat and Terbang, illustrated by Rassi Narika.
- In addition, there will be a storytelling picnic session, where visitors can read books or story quotes to each other. This session will be joined by Poetry Readers: Beni Satryo, Kezia Alaia, and Gratiagusti Chananya Rompas, they will recite poem about childrens.
- PESTA CERITA will be the official launch for the book Aku, Meps dan Beps, the collaborating work between mother and daughter Soca Sobhita and Reda Gaudiamo. This book tells a story of everyday family, focusing on Soca's childhood. Aku, Meps dan Beps is the first title released by POST Press, an independent publishing, subsidiary of POST Santa bookstore.
- To conclude the Fesival, there will be a children's music performances from Reda Gaudiamo and guitarist Jubing Kristianto.

Established in March 2015, Suar aims to promote, display and make art with the public through interactive and collaborative activities.
