Pearland Theatre Guild's production of Music From a Sparkling Planet by Douglas Carter Beane runs at the Pearl Theater March 14 - 30, 2014.

Pearl Theater continues to provide audiences light diversions with polish and gusto, and in its effort to embrace nostalgia as more than a comic retreat, Music from a Sparkling Planet "will remind you of those carefree days of childhood when there was nothing more important to do than play baseball, watch cartoons and wait for Christmas. The story of looking for fulfillment in the past, only to realize that it lies in the future, has touched me in so many ways," says Director, John Lazo.

In the 1970s, Tamara Tomorrow thrilled and amused her youthful space kiddets with cheery predictions of the future. Today, three thirty-something adults, "only on paper," are in search of hope and meaning in life. Life, as they know it, seems to suck. With responsibility and accountability slowly creeping in, things certainly are not as they once were. Through casual conversation, they discover their mutual admiration and love for a one-time local television star, Tamara Tomorrow.

Decades later, three of her adoring fans set out on a search to find their childhood idol, which leads to the big question: What in the world ever happened to Tamara Tomorrow? She was sexy, happy, positive and every little boy's first love interest and the woman every little girl wanted to be. As a last ditch effort to escape the present, the trio seek to relive the happiness of their innocent youth, no matter what the cost of finding their muse. Soon they must confront what it means to hold on, and what it means to let go.

Come blast off with us as past meets present, dreams meet reality, and we'll show you such a Sparkling Planet. Oh! What the future holds! What the future holds!
