The Grand 1894 Opera House's Serious Fun Children's Series presents Monkey Baa Theatre of Australia's "I Am Jack", Tuesday, March 4 at 10am. Best-selling author, educational specialist and most importantly Jack's mother-Susanne Gervay, tells the thought-provoking story about her son's experience with bullying.

Bullying can have a devastating effect on a child and the school community. "I Am Jack" is a journey based on real experiences and explores important ways to create a safer place. Jack is the main character who is a great kid: He tells jokes, annoys his sister, takes great photos and his Mum even says he is smart and clever. Then he was bullied at school and became really scared.

The story is a powerful way of developing understanding and strategies to stop bullying. Australia's Life Education believes "I Am Jack" celebrates kids. Unique, valuable kids who deserve the right to take pride in their own special qualities." Award-winning author and former content advisor to Sesame Street, Trudy Ludwig proclaims "I Am Jack "a sensitive and realistic portrayal of bullying."

Monkey Baa is an award-winning theatre and has established a fine reputation for producing vibrant, imaginative, relevant and sometimes downright silly productions. Adapting the very best of Australian children's literature for the stage, they are dedicated to working with young people. Their stimulating theatrical experience invites children to question, connect and encourage a greater understanding of the world and their place in it.
