HOUSTON WHATEVER FEST Moves Event to the Spring

HOUSTON WHATEVER FEST, Houston's annual eclectic music, comedy and art street festival moves to the spring. The organization will the honor weekend passes purchased by fans during the blind pre-sale for the new dates: April 1 - 2, 2017.

The change in dates comes as a result of a crowded marketplace with multiple music events taking place in the fall, says festival co-founder Jason Price. "With so many new music events taking place in the fall, there was a clear opportunity to insert a large-scale comedy-focused event into the mix."

HOUSTON WHATEVER FEST swaps dates with its sister festival, the Come Take It Comedy Festival which will feature Tim Meadows, Maria Bamford, Todd Barry and Nick Thune along with over 40 comedians performing at Warehouse Live and Secret Group venues. Launched in 2015, the Come Take It Comedy Festival (alternately titled The Come and Take It Comedy Takeover) is Houston's largest annual comedy festival spanning three venues in East Downtown. Come Take It Comedy Festival dates are November 18-20, 2016.

"After intense consideration, we felt that switching dates for the two festivals provided better opportunity to enhance entertainment options at the appropriate time of year," says Price. "It's our intention to deliver the best possible event while maintaining affordable ticket prices and being able to really give Houstonians and other patrons the biggest bang for their entertainment buck." With this in mind, the festival offers one complimentary weekend pass per purchase to the spring 2017 event.

HOUSTON WHATEVER FEST will mark its third year this spring and will include more than 80 acts on 5 stages featuring a diverse mix music genres, top-tier comedy acts and a variety of art experiences along with culinary options from some of the best local food trucks, Houston-centric vendors, unique street performers, and more. Continuing with its commitment to showcasing national talent alongside up-and-coming performers, the festival aims to provide opportunities for local acts, from musicians and comedians to artists, as part of the annual line up. Price says: "We feel that this move will allow us to do just that in a way that will have more impact in the long run."
