The Grand 1894 Opera House presents The Pirates of Penzance, presented by the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 8 pm. Tickets may be purchased at The Grand's Box Office, 2020 Postoffice Street, by calling 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or online at www.thegrand.com.

The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players production of The Pirates of Penzance is an opportunity for fans of music, theatre, and comedy to "head to the high seas" with Gilbert & Sullivan's most popular comic opera! Swaggering swashbuckling buccaneers, bumbling British bobbies, frolicsome Victorian maidens, and the delightfully dotty "model of a modern Major-General" fill the stage with rollicking antics, mistaken identities, love-struck adventures, and delightful melodies. The rich sounds of full orchestra, chorus, and vocal soloists, plus colorful staging and choreography bring to life the classical elegance, power, and fun of one of the world's most delightful musical comedies.

New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players remains dedicated to the professional performance of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas and to building new audiences for this classic repertory. Each season the Company offers full scale performances of its main stage productions to NYC public school groups free of charge. This performance is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts. It is further sponsored in part by The Trube Foundation and Galveston Musical Club.
