A. D. Players theater will open their 46th Mainstage season September 7th with Steven Deitz' award-winning play Sherlock Holmes: the final adventure at Grace Theater, 2710 W. Alabama. This production of the play, which won the 2007 Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Mystery Play, will be its Houston professional premiere.

Steven Dietz, one of the most produced playwrights of modern times, crafted the play from two of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's popular stories, A Scandal in Bohemia and The Final Problem.  TheWorld Premiere was at Arizona Theatre Company in 2006 and was a co-production with Pasadena Playhouse, where the show traveled after it closed in Arizona. Deitz is currently in residence at the University of Texas Austin.

case involving famous opera singer, Irene Adler. With his trusted companion Doctor  

Watson at his side, Sherlock Holmes pursues the case right into the web of his longtime nemesis and criminal genius, Professor Moriarty. Fans of Sherlock Holmes will be delighted with this spirited adaptation full of danger, intrigue, wit, and surprise.

The cast of Sherlock Holmes: the final adventureincludes A. D. Players company actors Chip Simmons as Sherlock Holmes, Blake Weir as Doctor Watson, Craig Griffin as The King of Bohemia ,Katharine Hatcher as Irene Adler, Marty Blair as James Larrabee, and Leslie Reese as Madge Larrabee. Completing the cast are guest artists Jeff McMorrough as Professor Moriarty and Brad Zimmerman as Sid Prince.

Lewis (Scenic Design), Andrew Vance (Lighting Design), Donna Southern Schmidt (Costume Design), Natalie Lerner (Sound Design), and Hannah Smith (Production Stage Manager).
