(3/21/2017) - Art, history, and humanity align in City Theatre's upcoming production of The Guard by Jessica Dickey. Directed by Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, the play will run March 11-April 2 on the Main Stage, continuing the 2016-17 season of new plays. This is the third time Ms. Dickey's work has been produced at City Theatre, following Charles Ives Take Me Home (2013) and The Amish Project (2011). The play features a cast of five tackling ten roles-including appearances by the legendary painter Rembrandt and the epic poet Homer-over three time periods. Tickets are on sale now.

(3/21/2017) - The critically acclaimed and multi award-winning new musical AN AMERICAN IN PARIS had its official London premiere tonight, Tuesday 21 March, at the beautifully restored Dominion Theatre. Christopher Wheeldon's stunning reinvention of the Oscar-winning film (that starred Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron) features the sublime music and lyrics of George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a new book by Craig Lucas.

(3/21/2017) - SXSW saw a lot of opportunities for new films and documentaries to be premiered. One in particular was a documentary called MAY IT LAST: A PORTRAIT OF THE AVETT BROTHERS that explored the Avett Brothers' journey into making their latest album that was recently released called “True Sadness.” In creating this documentary, directors Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio wanted to share all aspects of the lives' of the Avett Brothers and their band.

(3/21/2017) - Explore the vivid history of America's largest Chinatown through the eyes of a new generation in Lauren Yee's King of the Yees - a Goodman Theatre-commissioned world premiere that was developed in the 2015 New Stages Festival. Yee's longtime collaborator Joshua Kahan Brody directs her offbeat and electric joy ride about living in the contemporary world while honoring one's rich ancestral heritage-and the conflict that ensues. At a dinner party in the wilds of New Jersey, two married couples discuss a younger acquaintance - a polyamorous woman who also hunts her own meat. Fascinated, they invite this mysterious woman and her two live-in boyfriends to a New Year's Eve party, which alters the course of their lives.

(3/21/2017) - Jamie deRoy's Friar Membership and her long running Jamie deRoy & friends Variety Show are about the same age.  Jamie became a member in 1988 along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers and Brooke Shields.  Jamie brought this edition of the show to the Friars Club last night and the Frank Sinatra Dining Room was filled with Friars and Jamie's friends as they dined and were entertained by some of the best in the business.

(3/21/2017) - Broadway Academy of Performing, a kid's theatre camp hosted by Newman University Theatre Department, is now accepting registrations. The camp dates will be June 10th through 17th at Newman University in Wichita, KS. Kids ages 11-20 are eligible, and campers under 11 years can be day campers. The campers will arrive the afternoon of the 10th, audition and rehearse all week for this year's production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The musical, based on the animated feature of 1991, has music by Menken, Ashman and Rice, and features such delightful songs as "Be Our Guest" and "Something There." Broadway Academy of Performing is celebrating its 20th year, and this is the third at Newman University.

(3/21/2017) - Once on this Island is an adaptation of novelist Rosa Guy's My Love, My Love, which is in turn inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid. The annual All-Ohio Show is one of the most exciting projects that the Ohio EdTA offers to Thespians in Ohio. Thirty-eight students from nineteen different high schools around Ohio are featured in this production.  The show rehearses over 3 long weekends before opening the State Thespian Conference. The All-Ohio show intends to provide participating students with the experience of working on an advanced level of theatrical production. Involvement in the All-Ohio show is a special honor for the participants and schools, as well as an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
