(4/22/2015) - Based on Boris Pasternak's Nobel Prize-winning 20th-century epic Russian masterpiece, Doctor Zhivago is directed by Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys), with a book by Michael Weller (Ragtime), music by Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyrics by Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (Ella Enchanted), and choreography by Kelly Devine (Rocky). (4/21/2015) - Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company, is proud to present a World Premiere adaptation of the classic tale of a young mermaid who longs to be human, "The Little Mermaid".  Featuring an original score by Callan Holderbaum, MET company member Laura Stark will direct an original adaptation by fellow company member Devin Gaither based on the fairy-tale by Hans Christian Anderson.  An entertaining show for the whole family, it will run at MET this April and May for nine performances over five weeks. (4/21/2015) - More than 350 of Chicago's most influential young professionals gathered at Venue One in the West Loop on Friday, April 10 for the 2015 Red or White Ball, the Steppenwolf Auxiliary Council's annual spring event. The celebration raised nearly $60,000 for Steppenwolf's nationally recognized arts education program, Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA), which annually impacts more than 15,000 students, teachers and families. (4/21/2015) - If you are a Friar you receive an "Opening Act" email that introduces you to a new member. Sadly, you also get a "Final Curtain" email when a member leaves the stage. In true theater tradition an "After Party" was held for one of the clubs esteemed members in the Frank Sinatra Dining Room last night. It was organized by Actors Fund President and CEO Joseph Benincasa to remember Irv Welzer, a beloved member of the club. With song and story a few of Irv's fellow Friars reminisced. Mayor David Dinkins, Danny Aiello, Bernadette Peters, Dominic Chianese, Mark Simone, Robert Creighton,Carol Skarimbas,Will & Anthony Nunziata, and Stewie Stone all participated in this party, which celebrated a much loved member of the theatre community.

(4/21/2015) - After a two year absence the Atlantic City Ballet returns to The Strand Theater in Lakewood, NJ with their sexy performance of Bizet's Carmen. The Strand Theater has hosted the ballet in the past with performances of Dracula and Nutcracker and the original premier of Carmen. "We were disappointed that these last two years, we could not include The Strand in our touring dates." says Ms. Papa, "but we are so excited to be back and to have the opportunity to build an audience in this area of the state." The ballet is planning to perform at the Strand at least three times during their season. In September they will bring Ballet Goes Broadway, December will bring back The Nutcracker and in March they will perform Visions. "We are always excited to present at The Strand. It's such a majestic theater and it really showcases the company. All of our ballets look beautiful on that stage." remarked Papa.

The Music and Times of Burt Bacharach produced by Jan McArt and hosted by Marshall Turkin at Lynn University was enthusiastically received by it's Boca audience and these events are 'hot' tickets in the sunshine state. One of the wonderful things about attending the varied theatrical and musical offerings at Live at Lynn is that you get to see, different artists, diverse performances, and Jan McArt's splendid wardrobe when she comes on stage to introduce the concerts.
