Mark Danni, founder and artistic director of TheatreZone, the not-for-profit, Equity professional theatre group in residence at the G&L Theatre in Naples, reports that Season 11 single show tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 1.

Last month, Danni unveiled his selection of four Broadway musical treasures designed to reveal, amuse, confront and rouse audiences. "Our Season 11 premiere is a musical film noir classic, the satirical Sweet Smell of Success, with music by composer Marvin Hamlisch. It's the story of a crooked press agent who stoops to new depths to help an egotistical columnist break up his sister's romance," reports Danni.

February brings The Boy From Oz (Oz is slang for Australia), the Broadway musical where Hugh Jackman earned the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, based on the life of singer/songwriter Australian Peter Allen, a protégé of Judy Garland who was briefly married to her daughter Liza Minnelli. The book is by Nick Enright who used the same title for his musical version of Allen's life as the 1996 documentary The Boy From Oz.

In March, TheatreZone stages a production of Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods, the fairytale kingdom of the Brothers Grimm where, once upon a time, a mysterious witch sent a baker and his wife on a quest into the woods. According to Danni, Sondheim's brilliant lyrics and gorgeous music, paired with James Lapine's captivating book, make this Tony Award-winning Broadway musical about wishes, chasing your dreams, and the importance of the stories we tell our children both magical and deeply touching.

TheatreZone's season 11 finale in May is Dames at Sea, a tap dancing musical gem with book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller with music by Jim Wise. The show is a parody of large, flashing 1930s Busby Berkeley-style movie musicals in which an understudy steps into a role on Broadway and becomes a star. It originally played Off-Off-Broadway, then played Off-Broadway and jump-started the career of a 17-year-old singer and dancer named Bernadette Peters.

A special bonus added to TheatreZone's next season is the October 1 - 10, 2015 production of Xanadu, the second pairing of professional actors (members of the Actors Equity Association) with FGCU's Bower School of Music and the Arts professors, and theatre/music students. Based on the infamous film, Xanadu was penned by playwright Douglas Carter Beane and uses songs from John Farrar and Jeff Lynne's (E.L.O. - Electric Light Orchestra) film soundtrack.

Another bonus takes place in November when TheatreZone teams with Gulfshore Opera to present Brigadoon, the enchanting tale of two American tourists who stumble upon a little Scottish village that reawakens for one day every 100 years, then goes back to sleep for another century while Brigadoon itself vanishes in the mists. Brigadoon will be staged Friday, November 20, 2015 at 8 pm in the Charlotte Performing Arts Center in Port Charlotte, FL and Saturday, November 21 at 8 pm in the First Christian Church in Ft. Myers, FL. A third location and date in Collier County will be announced shortly.
