Patti LuPone, Megan Hilty & More to Headline Inaugural WinterStage Season at Parker Playhouse
The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Matthew Lombardo will launch the inaugural season of WinterStage to be presented at the 1,167 seat Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, beginning January 2014.
Lombardo has been instrumental in bringing name talent to the Parker Playhouse over the past few years, having written and produced Tea at Five with Tovah Feldshuh, High starring Kathleen Turner and, last season, brought Stefanie Powers as Tallulah Bankhead in the critically-acclaimed production of Looped. Actresses Kate Mulgrew and Valerie Harper have also made appearances in his plays in South Florida at The Cuillo Center for the Arts in West Palm Beach.
"I have a very special place in my heart for the audiences in South Florida," Lombardo said. "Continuing to bring name talent in first-class productions to the beautiful and historic Parker Playhouse is such a gratifying venture. Today, I am happy to announce that WinterStage will present three concerts with Broadway's biggest names. I am currently finalizing an equally exciting slate of artists and plays, which I plan to announce as part of the WinterStage Season soon."
The 2014 WinterStage concerts, produced by Mark Cortale, are as follows:
January 16, 2014
Megan Mullally & Seth Rudetsky In Concert
Famous for her iconic role as Karen Walker on the groundbreaking hit TV series Will & Grace, two-time Emmy Award-winner Megan Mullally and Sirius XM Radio star and pianist Seth Rudetsky shoot the breeze, dish the dirt and raise the roof with a host of classic Broadway songs.
Breakout star Megan Hilty recently starred as the seasoned triple-threat Ivy Lynn in NBC's musical drama Smash for two seasons and is now currently appearing as Sean Hayes' loyal friend Liz on NBC's new comedy Sean Saves the World. The evening will feature Hilty in conversation about her illustrious career with Sirius XM Radio Star and pianist Seth Rudetsky and singing some of the most memorable Broadway showstoppers!
Don't miss the legendary Patti LuPone, two-time Tony Award-winning star of Evita and Gypsy, with Sirius XM Radio's Seth Rudetsky as they engage in a riveting evening of conversation and song. After Ms. LuPone's triumphant return to London's West End last June, The Telegraph raved, "Anybody who has ever enjoyed a musical on the stage should see this show, a miraculous close-up encounter with Patti LuPone. It is a fair bet that they will have the time of their life!"
