Maltz Jupiter Theatre Announces 2012/13 Season Of Shows
The 2012/13 season brings with it a major milestone: the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Tenth Anniversary Season Celebration.
Maltz Jupiter states, "The 2012/13 season will begin with Amadeus, a thrilling tour-de-force biodrama that unveils the outrageous antics of one of the greatest composers of all time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Theatre will continue with the classic American musical The Music Man, which takes us on a toe-tapping adventure with fast-talking salesman Professor Harold Hill. Next up is Singin' in the Rain, the high-energy romantic comedy filled with splashy song-and-dance numbers and an onstage rainstorm. Then, the Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Doubt takes a gripping look at the pursuit of truth when a priest's relationship with an altar boy is questioned. The smash season ends with Thoroughly Modern Millie, a Tony Award®-winning musical that takes us on a high-spirited musical romp around 1920s New York City, featuring thunderous tap dancing, frisky flappers and dashing leading men."
"We are celebrating our tenth season of success with the best Broadway-caliber productions and events that we've ever assembled," said the theatre's artistic director, Andrew Kato. "Our season is filled with classic musicals, family entertainment and captivating plays, including four Tony Award®-winning productions and an MGM spectacle. Our audiences will be completely dazzled."
Maltx Jupiter draws over 70,000 people annually, serves a subscription base of more than 7,000 and has world-class classroom facilities in support of its Sandra and Paul Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts, which serves hundreds of youth and adults. The Theatre was recently nominated for 25 Carbonell Awards, South Florida's highest honor for artistic excellence.
Subscriptions start at $183. Subscribers save 10 percent to 15 percent on single ticket prices. Subscribers also get one fee-free ticket exchange per show, and advance notice and ability to purchase tickets to limited engagements and other special events. Subscription groups of 20 or more receive an additional discount.

Oct 30 – Nov 11
Winner of the Tony Award® for best play, this thrilling tour-de-force biodrama unveils the outrageous antics and humor of one of the greatest composers of all time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Set in 18th-century Vienna, Amadeus portrays the flamboyant genius, as seen through the eyes of his jealous rival, composer Antonio Salieri. The Music Man
Nov 27 – Dec 16
This classic American musical takes us on a toe-tapping adventure with fast-talking salesman Professor Harold Hill, who convinces the townspeople of River City, Iowa that they need a band, instruments and uniforms. His plans to skip town with their money comes to a crashing halt when he falls in love and has to face the music. With unforgettable songs such as "Til There Was You," and "Seventy-six Trombones," this Tony Award®-winning sensation is a treat for the entire family. Sponsored by Peggy and Rick Katz.
Singin' in the Rain

This high-energy romantic comedy overflows with splashy song-and-dance numbers, including glorious songs such as "Good Morning," "Make 'Em Laugh" and the show-stopping title number, "Singin' In the Rain." The golden age of movie musicals comes alive as we follow silent movie actor Don Lockwood's journey into the talkies of the late 1920s. February 5 – 17
When a priest's relationship with an altar boy is questioned, a nun takes matters into her own hands to prove it. In this brilliant Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, the nun becomes intent on exposing his dark secret and the mystery unfolds. But are his actions innocent? This gripping story will leave you questioning your own faith and the cost of the pursuit of truth.
Thoroughly Modern Millie
March 5 – 24
A high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl who travels to New York City to marry for money instead of love. Come relive the roaring 1920s in this Tony Award®-winning musical featuring jazz, thunderous tap dancing, frisky flappers and dashing leading men! In addition to its season shows (not included in subscriptions), the Theatre will bring back the "top ten" most popular limited engagements of past seasons during the 2012/13 season. The Theatre will also offer a contemporary retelling of the children's classic Alice in Wonderland for families with the all-new show Through the Looking Glass (Oct. 12); a once-in-a-lifetime spectacular gala benefit evening The Ten Event (Feb. 23); and The Laramie Project (Sept. 8), presented by local high school students as part of the Theatre's Youth Artists' Chair program.

Saturday, September 8 – The Laramie Project
Presented by local high school students as part of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Youth Artists' Chair program, the Laramie Project is about the brutal murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming, in 1998. Interviews with local citizens and officials unveil the hate crime and its aftermath. The play explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion in which we are capable. Showtime is 8 p.m.
Friday, October 12 – Through the Looking Glass
A contemporary retelling of the children's classic Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass comes to life with eye-popping sets, costumes, magic and puppetry. In a colorful land where animals talk and characters amuse, 12-year-old Alice learns to "look in the mirror" and see the truly special person she is. With an exciting original pop score, this adventure is filled with fun twists the entire family will enjoy. Friday, November 16 – Maltz Jupiter Theatre Guild presents the Stan Kenton Tribute Orchestra
Under the leadership of Dennis Noday, this high-energy big band plays all of the Stan Kenton jazz classics featuring "Artistry in Rythmn," "Intermission Riff," and more! Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $40.
Tuesday, December 18 – Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band
Its your chance to hear popular and traditional Christmas and Hanukkah songs played by the full band, plus surprise performances by vocal and instrumental soloists, in a joyous celebration of the Holiday season. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $15.
Monday, December 31 – Capitol Steps - New Year's Eve
Come along for the ride as they take a humorous look at some serious issues in an all-new show to ring in the New Year. Showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $50, $60 and $85 for special VIP seats with champagne toast, and meet and greet.
Monday, January 14 – Defending the Caveman
The longest-running solo play in Broadway history focuses on the hilarious ways men and women relate. Showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. All tickets $40.
Sunday, January 20 – Late Night Catechism
An uproariously funny play that takes the audience back to their youth. The irrepressible Sister teaches class to a roomful of "students" filled with audience participation. Showtime is 8 p.m. All tickets are $40.
Monday, January 21 – Chris MacDonald's Memories of Elvis
Join us for a memorial tribute celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley in honor of his 78th birthday. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $45.
Monday, January 28 – Jay and The Americans
The '60s pop legends sing "This Magic Moment" and other hit songs including "She Cried," "Only in America," "Come a Little Bit Closer," "Tonight" and "Cara Mia." Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets $50. VIP meet and greet tickets $65.
Monday, February 18 – The Platters
Take a trip down memory lane with the smooth sophisticated sounds that helped launch Doo Wop music. Singing hits such as "Only You (And You Alone)," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and "Great Pretender," their harmonies and arrangements will take you back in time. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $45.
Saturday, February 23, 2013 – The 10 Event
This once-in-a-lifetime spectacular gala benefit evening will feature celebrities from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's past 10 seasons of hit productions. Backed by an orchestra on stage and utilizing multimedia imagery, this enchanting celebration will take you on a retrospective journey of all our triumphs. Under a glittering tent at the Theatre, this ONE NIGHT ONLY benefit is a must for anyone who has been a part of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's success. The evening includes cocktails, gourmet dinner and seating for the 90-minute musical revue, followed by dancing under the stars.
Sunday, March 10 – The Second City: Laughing Matters
From the company that launched the careers of Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and more, comes the next generation of the comedy world's best and brightest in an evening of hilarious sketch comedy and Second City's trademark improvisation. Showtime is 8 p.m. All tickets are $40.
Monday, March 11 – Roger McGuinn
The front man and founder of The Byrds is famous for such hits as "Turn, Turn, Turn," "Eight Miles High" and " Mr. Tambourine Man." Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $35.
Monday, March18 – The Celtic Tenors
Celebrate your roots as the classical crossover group performs a mix of Irish, folk and pop just in time for St. Patrick's Day. Showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. All tickets are $40.
Wednesday, March 27 – John Pizzarelli Quartet
The world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer is known for classic standards, late-night ballads, and the cool jazz flavor he brings to his performances. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $50.
Season subscriptions are currently on sale. Renewing subscribers have until March 13 to renew their subscription to be entered into the 10th Anniversary Season Celebration Sweepstakes. Single play and musical tickets go on sale Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. Single tickets for special productions, special engagements and limited engagements go on sale May 7 at 10 a.m.
