Curtain Call Theatre to Present MAN OF LA MANCHA

Curtain Call Theatre will present a daring new production of the classic musical Man of la Mancha at Flagler Place in Downtown Stuart with a run from January 15th- 25th. The show continues Curtain Call's main series, which kicked off with Reefer Madness this November.

Curtain Call, while known for edgier, more contemporary shows like Next to Normal and Avenue Q, is venturing into more classic territory for the first time with Man of La Mancha. "I really wanted the opportunity to bring this piece to life," says Artistic Director Jake Sanders. "Man of La Mancha is just as relevant as it ever has been. To watch Cervantes navigate through corruption and have such bravery in the face of what seems to be an Impossible Dream is incredibly uplifting and relevant for today's climate."

Man of La Mancha tells classic story of the noble Don Quixote as he fights injustice with his loyal friend Sancho Panza at his side, falling in love with the lovely but downtrodden Aldonza, creating his story amidst the backdrop of a modern jail. The show has achieved considerable Broadway success and is widely considered among the best-written modern musicals, featuring classic songs like The Impossible Dream and Dulcinea.

To tackle this difficult show, Curtain Call has pulled together a team of professional talent helmed by Director Heidi Condon, who spearheaded last season's 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Avenue Q. "It's an exciting show with a tremendously talented cast," says Condon, whose cast is led Treasure Coast favorite Richard "Dick" Grady, who previously starred as Emile in a sold-out South Pacific at the Lyric as Cervantes, with Curtain Call favorite & NYC Actress Michelle Lucey as Aldonza and Resident Vocal Director Mariano Garcia IV as Sancho Panza. The cast also includes Leah Santos as Antonia, Darian Cisneros as Dr. Carrasco/ The Duke, Samantha Lacroix as Maria, Barbara Murray the Inkeeper's Wife, Clarissa Allie as Fermina, Corey Toussaint as The Governor/ The Inkeeper, Michael Harrison as the Padre and actors Andy Morejon, Mitch Charchalis & Nicholas Marchese as Muleteers.

Dick Grady has been the only name Artistic Director Jake Sanders and Director Heidi Condon have heard since Man of La Mancha was announced this summer. "We choose the show, and all everyone kept telling me was that we have to get Dick to play Cervantes. We connected through a friend and he came out to audition and we were just blown away. Here we are, six months from the show and we have a Cervantes who could go on tomorrow." "As an actor, by avocation, it's a privilage to get into a chracter that so typifies hope and righteousness in a despairing world," says Dick Grady. "The idea of not viewing life just as it as, but as it ought to be is something worth dwelling upon as we enter the New Year."

Man of La Mancha will play the Flagler Place January 15th- 25th with performances at 8PM on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays and at 2PM on Sundays at 201 SW Flagler Avenue, Stuart, FL-34994. The show runs approximately an 2 hours and 10 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.
