MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET to Open at New London Barn Playhouse

The New London Barn Playhouse kicks off its 94th Summer Season with the MainStage production of Million Dollar Quartet running June 10th thru June 21st. Performances are held Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM, with matinees on June 11th, June 17th, and June 19th at 2:00 PM, and Sundays at 5:00 PM.

Million Dollar Quartet is a high-octane jukebox musical that brings rock 'n' roll history to life. Set in 1956 Memphis, it imagines the legendary jam session where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins collided at Sun Records. Fueled by friendship, rivalry, and raw ambition, the show crackles with iconic hits, Southern swagger, and backstage banter—capturing the moment when four young musicians unknowingly changed music forever in a once-in-a-lifetime night of rhythm, rebellion, and sound, electrifying magic.

The cast features a mix of Barn Playhouse veterans and newcomers. Ken Sandberg* returns to the Barn Playhouse as Johnny Cash after appearing as Danny DeVito in Jersey Boys in 2024. John Drinkwater* makes his Barn Playhouse debut as Elvis Presley; his previous credits include Bye Bye Birdie, HAIR and The Wizard of Oz. Kevin Lausche makes his Barn Playhouse debut as Jerry Lee Lewis, a role he previously performed aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's production of Million Dollar Quartet. Jay Osborne takes on the role of Carl Perkins, having previously appeared in productions including The Osmonds, One Man, Two Guvnors and Million Dollar Quartet. Ross Griffin* makes his Barn Playhouse debut as Sam Phillips in his seventh production of Million Dollar Quartet.

Sydney Greene returns to the Barn Playhouse as Dyanne after spending the 2024 season as a member of the Acting Intern Company. Jamie Pittle returns as drummer Fluke after performing in the Barn Playhouse's 2025 Monday Night Concert, Pianomania. Isaac Foley joins the company as Brother Jay on bass, bringing prior experience with Million Dollar Quartet. Ben Smallwood serves as the male understudy, covering the roles of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Sam Phillips; his previous credits include Million Dollar Quartet, Heartbreak Hotel and Jesus Christ Superstar. Katie Gwen Morris returns to the Barn Playhouse as the Dyanne cover after previously participating in the 2024 Acting Intern Company.

The production is directed and music directed by Sam Sherwood, who makes his Barn Playhouse debut after performing in and serving on the creative teams of productions of Million Dollar Quartet across the country. Assistant director Luke Ferrante takes on his first assistant directing assignment while also serving as the Barn Playhouse's artistic coordinator for the summer.

The creative team also includes scenic designer Mia Irwin, returning for her fourth production at the Barn Playhouse after designing shows including Winter Wonderettes and The Cottage; lighting designer Eli Goldberg, who makes his Barn Playhouse debut after working on the new musical LATE in Boston earlier this year; Costume Designer Andrew Burns, whose previous Barn Playhouse credits include Hairspray and Clue; sound designer Zachariah Rosenbaum, who previously served as the theatre's resident sound engineer for the past two seasons; and hair and wig designer Jeff Knaggs, whose credits include Broadway's 25th Anniversary production of Mamma Mia! as well as Come From Away, Ring of Fire and The Bodyguard.

Stage manager Brenna Bishop* returns for her third summer at the Barn Playhouse, joined by assistant stage manager Wavyne White*, who returns for a fourth season.

The Players Ring has announced its Mainstage Season for 2026-27. The Players Ring is a historic and uniquely intimate 75-seat venue at 105 Marcy Street, right at the edge of beautiful Prescott Park. Donors were invited to an exclusive season preview at the end of May.

“Seven years into my role at the Players Ring, the process of curating a Season has not become any easier — or any less thrilling,” said Margherita Giacobbi, Executive Director of the Players Ring.

“The practice of soliciting proposals from the community has been part of the Ring since the very beginning in 1992,” she continued. “But today, as the organization has evolved into a producing house committed to consistent excellence, experimentation, plurality, and entertainment, there is much more at stake than simply choosing a compelling script.”

Every year, the theatre holds the so called “Ring-Toss,” a community event where theatre makers – playwrights, directors, performers, producers – have the opportunity to pitch their works and ideas.

This year was no different, with more than 70 submissions received.

“The quality of the writing remains paramount, but we must also have deep confidence in the artists who will bring these productions to life — from directors to casts to designers,” Giacobbi said. “We are extraordinarily fortunate to be surrounded by a local artistic community whose talent rivals what you would see on metropolitan or even international stages.”

Giacobbi said she is always impressed by how clearly artists understand what The Ring's identity is and what it aims to showcase. The difficult part is that many deserving ideas cannot fit into a single Season, which features only eight productions plus the beloved appointment with A Christmas Carol.

“We work hard to cultivate positive relationships with the artists and trust they understand that if it's not this year, there may very well be another opportunity ahead,” she said. “Curating a Season is always an act of alchemy — balancing originality and familiarity, surprise and beloved titles, artistic risk and viability.”

This year, in particular, the staff and board heard loud and clear a desire for levity.

“While we will never abdicate our responsibility to stir reflection and empathy, we leaned toward stories that — we think — will leave audiences with a sense of hope and joy,” Giacobbi said.

Shonni Holmes, Board Member and Chair of the Artistic Committee, works very closely with the ED and CFO to ensure that the seasons are both artistically and fiscally sound. The mission for the Artistic Committee is to honor the history and promote the advancement of The Ring.

“I get to read all the plays — which is the fun part, and crucial for curation,” Holmes said. “The harder part is shortlisting which plays should be considered for the Mainstage. We always start with more contenders than we can accommodate, because things happen, sometimes with highly theatrical behind-the-scenes.”

Holmes said Giacobbi works on reference checks, availability of artists and creative teams, securing rights - if published.

“Then, we often re-read plays, to examine more closely if they honor the vision and mission of The Ring; whether we have parity and representation on and off stage; and if the play is in the appropriate hands to ensure that everyone has what they need to reach their full potential in a safe space.”

The next layer is how all of that aligns with the fiscal impacts and responsibility of an arts organization.

“It is a delicate and challenging process; and frankly, we don't always get exactly what we want or what we've visualized, and neither do all of the artists,” Holmes said. “But we continue to find that, in the end, we're presenting a lineup that sends audiences on a journey of rich storytelling and provides our community with a vital arts and culture experience. Season 35 delivers on that, as we see themes of connection, discovery, and the plurality of journeys, across genres. There will truly be something for everyone.”

The Ring-Works|New Play Lab, Directed by Leslie Pasternack, is a mentorship experience for playwrights with extremely promising scripts that need support to become truly stage-ready.

“Each year, we choose two projects from our season submission pool that demonstrate exciting theatrical vision and a strong point of view,” Pasternack said. “As a professional dramaturg with extensive directing and acting experience, I am privileged to provide one-on-one mentorship to these playwrights through two rounds of revisions which culminate in a staged reading.”

Along the way, the Ring-Works|New Play Lab offers input from its Ring Readers in a Zoom roundtable discussion, and then feedback from the audience at the staged reading.

“It's an intensive amount of resources that we're fortunate to invest in emerging playwrights, which is central to The Ring's mission,” Pasternack said. “And our audiences love the opportunities to be involved in the development process. The group discussions are always well-attended and lively.”

This coming season, the Ring-Works|New Play Lab will be working with Newburyport-based playwright Joshua Faigen on An Empty Sky, which depicts a love relationship struggling to blossom “in a time of political strangeness.” It tenderly grapples with many current themes in an imaginative and humane way.

“Our second play, Ant Wars, is written by Christopher Garvin, of Virginia,” Pasternack said. “A military veteran himself, Garvin has crafted a ‘tragicomic solo play' about a combat veteran obsessed with protecting his kitchen from an ant invasion. Solo work presents specific challenges and pleasures that I'm excited to explore, and we welcome the chance to highlight this fresh voice from the veteran community.”

Park Theatre to Bury Time Capsule as Part of AMERICA 250 CULTURAL FAIR

A time capsule will be buried on the grounds of The Park Theatre in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, as part of their America 250 Cultural Fair, which is commemorating the 250th birthday of our nation. The public is asked for ideas on what's to be included in the America 250 Time Capsule. It will be buried alongside the theatre's parking lot on River Street at 2:50pm on Saturday, July 4. The public is invited to watch the ceremony.

The idea for time capsules dates back to ancient times, when pharaohs and emperors buried treasures and mementos, often for use in the afterlife. The United States' oldest known time capsule was the work of Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. In late 2014, a repairman fixing a water leak in a Massachusetts steakhouse uncovered a brass box the two former Sons of Liberty had placed in a cornerstone in 1795. It had already been opened once in 1855 for cleaning and the addition of new artifacts (History.com).

Items in the time capsule might include newspapers, voice and/or music recordings, photographs, historical artifacts, and much more. People can submit their ideas starting today by emailing them along with their name and telephone number to timecapsule250@theparktheatre.org. Ideas must be emailed or given by hand no later than 12 pm on Monday, June 29, 2026.

The Jaffrey Historical Society (JHS) has partnered with The Park Theatre to administer the time capsule. The JHS will have its own ideas for items to be put in the time capsule. They will also help judge the ideas for final selection. Time capsule idea entry forms will be available at the theatre box office and lobby during hours when it is open.

Instructions for the time capsule and its first opening will be engraved on the capsule. It will have its inaugural opening in 100 years on July 4, 2126. The contents will be reviewed, and any new items will be added before it is resealed. Subsequently, the instructions will require it to be opened every 50 years thereafter.

The America 250 Cultural Fair runs from July 2 through July 4. There will be movies, exhibits, a Fred Marple variety show, a cookout, and more. BroadwayWorld Launches Producer Fantasy Game

Ever watched the weekly Broadway grosses roll in and thought you could pick the winners? Now you can put it to the test. BroadwayWorld has launched the Producer Fantasy Game, a free, season-long competition that lets theatre fans build a roster of Broadway shows and earn points based on how those productions actually perform at the box office. The draft window is open now.

How It Works

The setup is simple. During the draft window, you pick any six Broadway productions that opened this season. Drafting is non-exclusive, so there is no need to race a rival for a hot title. Any number of players can roster the same show.

From there, your shows go to work for you. Every week, each production on your roster earns fantasy points based on its reported box office grosses and capacity percentages. When Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations and wins are announced, your shows bank bonus points on top of that. And each week you can answer our Fantasy Forecast prediction questions for up to five bonus points per correct call.

Weekly Scoring

Each week, a show earns one base point for every $50,000 it grosses, so a $1 million week is worth 20 base points. On top of that, shows can earn bonuses: up to five points for filling seats (based on how close to full capacity the house ran), six points for grossing $2 million or more (or three points for grossing between $1 million and $2 million), and eight points if its gross jumped at least 15 percent from the week before. A show loses four points if its gross dropped at least 15 percent. If a show goes dark and reports no gross for a week, it scores zero for that week with no penalty.

The Fantasy Forecast

The Producer Fantasy Game is really two games in one. The first is the box office game: drafting shows and earning points from their weekly grosses and awards. The second is the Fantasy Forecast, a weekly set of prediction questions about what's happening on Broadway, where each correct answer is worth up to five points. You can play one or both.

We track them separately so you can shine at either. Your Producer score covers the box office game, your Forecast score covers your prediction results, and your Combined score adds the two together for the overall championship ranking. The leaderboard lets you toggle between Overall, Producers, and Forecasters, so a sharp predictor can top the Forecasters board even during a rough season for their roster, and a roster powerhouse can lead the Producers board without answering a single question.

Managing Your Roster

Your lineup stays at six shows all season, and you have plenty of room to maneuver. You get one free drop every week, three additional season drops to use anytime before the trade deadline, and free replacements whenever a show on your roster closes. New productions open throughout the season and become available the moment they start reporting grosses, so it pays to keep a transaction in your pocket for that buzzy new opening.

Prescott Park Arts Festival has revealed that reservations are now opening for its 2026 signature musical production, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, along with two additional concerts joining the River House Restaurant Concert Series on the Wilcox Main Stage: Ralph Stanley II & the Clinch Mountain Boys on Wednesday, June 24, and The Devil Makes Three on Saturday, August 29.

RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA

This beloved classic follows Ella, a young woman forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother, who dreams of a better life, and with the help of her Fairy Godmother, a pumpkin, and a little magic, finds it. Featuring the iconic songs "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible," and "Ten Minutes Ago," this enchanting production invites audiences of all ages to believe in the transformative power of kindness and to build a better, kinder world together. This magical production will light up the Wilcox Main Stage most Thursdays through Sundays at 7 PM from June 19 through August 9, with select matinee and American Sign Language (ASL)-supported performances available. Matinees will be on July 5 and July 25 at 1 pm. American Sign Language-supported performances will be on Sunday, June 28; Thursday, July 9; Saturday, July 18, all at 7 pm; and the matinee on Saturday, July 25 at 1 pm. Ralph Stanley II honored his father's wishes by taking over the legendary Clinch Mountain Boys name following the passing of bluegrass icon Dr. Ralph Stanley, carrying forward one of the most storied traditions in American roots music. A Grammy Award winner and two-time Grammy nominee, Ralph II is an accomplished songwriter with six solo albums and the highly acclaimed duet album with his father, Side by Side. On Sunday, June 7, Ashuelot Concerts will welcome internationally acclaimed cellist Edward Arron to The Park Theatre in Jaffrey for a powerful afternoon of chamber music alongside violinist Louisa Stonehill and pianist Nicholas Burns.

Edward Arron's performances have taken him to many of the world's most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall in London, and major festivals across Europe, Asia, and North America. A longtime collaborator with some of classical music's most distinguished artists, Arron is also a member of the renowned Ehnes String Quartet and co-Artistic Director of the Performing Artists in Residence series at the Clark Art Institute in Massachusetts.

Despite an international schedule, Arron remains deeply committed to the intimacy and emotional depth of chamber music in a rural setting— something audiences in Jaffrey will experience firsthand.

The June 7 performance features two monumental works for piano trio: Grieg's Andante con Moto in C minor and Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50. Written in memory of thecomposer's dear friend Nikolai Rubinstein, Tchaikovsky's Trio is one of the most emotionally expansive chamber works ever composed — moving from profound lyricism to dazzling virtuosity and heartbreaking reflection.

AMERICA 250 CULTURAL FAIR to Launch at Jaffrey's Park Theatre This July 4th Weekend

The Park Theatre in Jaffrey, New Hampshire announced the line-up for its America 250 Cultural Fair. The fair will commemorate America's 250th birthday and will run from July 2 through July 4. The fair will feature movies, a Salute To America live variety entertainment show, historical exhibits, and a cookout on July 3.

Festivities begin Thursday, July 2 at 6:30pm on the big screen in the Eppes Auditorium with an advance screening of the new movie, Young Washington. The film stars Ben Kingsley, Mary-Louise Parker, and William Franklyn-Miller as Washington. The film chronicles how the young George Washington tests his honor, loyalty, and courage by fighting in the Revolutionary War. Young Washington will also play on July 3 and 4 in the 4K upgraded King Screening Room.

Friday, July 3rd features the Monadnock 250 Main Street Cookout from 3pm to 7pm. This outdoor cookout will offer a wide variety of traditional Independence Day foods for sale, including hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst sausage, homemade chili, salads, chips, sweets, and more. The Kona Ice Truck will be on hand to serve up traditional Hawaiian shaved ice in a variety of flavors, from classic to exotic. The theatre's bar will open as well (ID is required).

Later on Friday, July 3 at 7pm, the theatre presents a variety show salute to America hosted by “Fred Marple” (Ken Sheldon), the fictional New England character who has charmed audiences for decades with his stories of the mythical town “Frost Heaves.” The Fred Marple Salute To America Variety Show has a power line-up of talent, including magician Ben Pratt, the Cheshiremen Barbershop Chorus, Ivy and Chum & The Puppets, comedian Jody Sloan, and pianist Kyle Trombley. More talent to be announced. Tickets are $30 (children under 12 are $20.)

At 6pm on Saturday, July 4, the theatre will present on its giant screen, the restored classic musical movie, 1776. Originally a highly successful Broadway musical that debuted in 1969, it was produced as a movie in 1972. The Warner Bros. film stars many actors from the Broadway cast, including William Daniels, John Cullum, Howard Da Silva, and Ken Howard. 1776 follows the Founding Fathers as they debate and shape the birth of the United States in a lively musical adaptation of the Broadway hit. Gathering in Philadelphia, leaders like Benjamin Franklin and John Adams urge Thomas Jefferson to draft the Declaration of Independence announcing freedom from British rule.

Additionally, the fair will include an exhibit of the key documents concerning the birth of America. The National Archives' “Freedom Plane National Tour” is taking original Founding-Era documents around the U.S. this summer. The Park Theatre has obtained copies of the documents and large blow-up posters of the items will be put on display in the theatre lobby from July 2 - 4. The admission is free. They include:

RIVER HOUSE RESTAURANT CONCERT SERIES to Add August Shows at Prescott Park

Prescott Park Arts Festival has announced additional August performances for its 2026 River House Restaurant Concert Series, taking place on the Wilcox Main Stage along the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The August lineup will feature returning artists, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriters, and Americana and indie folk performers as part of the festival’s ongoing commitment to accessible live arts programming. All concerts are presented with a recommended $20 donation, though admission remains open to all attendees regardless of contribution.

“This round of announcements makes me so happy, and I think it reflects everything we try to do at the Festival,” said Executive Director Courtney Perkins in a statement. “There is nothing quite like welcoming back artists like Allen Stone and Langhorne Slim, performers who have stood on this stage before and left this community wanting more.”

2026 August Concert Series Lineup

The series will begin August 12 with the Ryan Montbleau Band, followed by returning performer Allen Stone on August 13. Singer-songwriter Jordan Caiola will perform his solo project Caiola on August 15.

Two-time Grammy nominee Madi Diaz will appear August 19 following the release of her recent albums Weird Faith and Fatal Optimist. Fantastic Cat will return to the festival August 21 after previously appearing as an opening act, and Langhorne Slim will close out the month on August 28 with a full-band performance.

All performances begin at 7:00 p.m. on the Wilcox Main Stage in Prescott Park.

Prescott Park Arts Festival has revealed the second wave of performances for its 2026 River House Restaurant Concert Series, continuing through mid-summer on the iconic Wilcox Main Stage in Prescott Park along the Piscataqua River. This next chapter of the season brings an extraordinary collection of artists to Portsmouth's waterfront, including Grammy Award winners, celebrated Americana icons, and some of the most exciting voices in roots and soul music today.

A two-time Grammy Award winner and seven-time nominee, Griffin received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting at the 2023 Americana Music Honors and Awards, and her songs have been covered by artists including Emmylou Harris, Kelly Clarkson, The Chicks, and Bette Midler. Joining her on this very special evening is Kathleen Edwards, celebrated as one of the forebears of modern alt-country and Americana music, beloved by fans and fellow musicians alike, and praised by the New York Times for her "droll, observant and unsparing tone that is all her own." Thursday, July 23: Tiny Habits

Tiny Habits is a folk-pop trio of Berklee College of Music alumni: Cinya Khan, Maya Rae, and Judah Mayowa, who met as students during the start of the pandemic, singing covers of old songs in each other's dorm rooms and posting videos to social media. After multiple videos went viral on TikTok and Instagram, the three made it official. The band has attracted praise for their harmonies from no less than Elton John and David Crosby, and has been hailed as "The Prodigies of Harmonies" in a New Yorker magazine article. They opened for James Taylor on a 43-date tour in summer 2025, and their warmth and jaw-dropping three-part harmonies are going to feel right at home on the waterfront.

Wednesday, July 29: The Lone Bellow

The Nashville-based trio of Zach Williams, Brian Elmquist, and Kanene Pipkin quickly became known for their transcendent harmonies, serious musicianship, and raucous live performance, creating what NPR calls "earnest and magnetic folk-pop built to shake the rafters." Their music embraces the dynamics of bluegrass and gospel, the fire of rock and roll, and the passion of the blues, sharing tales of folks trying to make something of their lives, sometimes against long odds. Their sixth studio album, What a Time to Be Alive, arrived in early 2026, and the band is out in full force. Back to perform in the park for their fourth time since 2014, come and see why they've earned one of the most devoted fanbases in Americana.

Josh Ritter is a folk-rock singer-songwriter and novelist with an expressive voice, a keen wit, and an evocative way with words, described as "harking back to Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and maybe a little Mark Knopfler" by the New York Times, and named one of the "100 Greatest Living Songwriters" by Paste magazine. Throughout his decades-long career, Ritter has established himself as "one of the most perceptive artists making music today," releasing twelve albums and earning the respect of music legends, with artists such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Bob Weir having covered or collaborated with him. Devon Gilfillian is a Philadelphia-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter and captivating, can't-miss live performer who regularly commands club, theater, and festival stages around the world. A soulful artist with a genre-encompassing vibe that touches on gritty blues, warm R&B, and hints of hip-hop with a rock heft, Gilfillian is one of those rare performers who makes every audience feel like the show was made just for them, just like he did on the Wilcox Main Stage back in 2023. Thursday, August 6: Maggie Rose

Maggie Rose has pulled off one of the most successful and natural reinventions in recent Nashville history, evolving from a country singer who never quite fit the Music Row mold into a self-assured performer of soul, R&B, and American roots. A Nashville-based powerhouse vocalist and songwriter with deep roots in country, blues, R&B, and rock, Rose has earned a reputation as a singer's singer and a writer's writer. Her most recent album No One Gets Out Alive was one of Rolling Stone's Best Albums of 2024. Don't miss her.

The North American Tour of THE NOTEBOOK hasannounced engagements for the 2026-27 season, adding 26 cites to the previously announced route, including stops in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, and Houston. The tour began performances on September 6, 2025, at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio, and has welcomed over 500,000 patrons to date.

Allie and Noah, two people from different worlds, share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart in a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love. Based on the book that has sold millions of copies worldwide and a film that is one of the highest-grossing romantic dramas of all-time, the musical adaptation of THE NOTEBOOK played Broadway at the Schoenfeld Theatre from March 2024 to December 2024 following a critically acclaimed world premiere engagement at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in the fall of 2022.

THE NOTEBOOK features music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter (writer and producer on NBC's “This Is Us,” The Cake). The production is directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, RENT) and Schele Williams (Aida, The Wiz), with choreography by Katie Spelman (Associate Choreographer on Moulin Rouge! The Musical).

The creative team for the tour includes scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Mia Neal, and projection design by Lucy Mackinnon. The production's music supervisor is Carmel Dean, who also collaborated on arrangements with Ingrid Michaelson and on orchestrations with John Clancy, and the music director is Tina Faye. Park Theatre Will Host Summer Baseball Movie Series

The Park Theatre is stepping up to the plate this summer with its 2026 Summer Baseball Movie Series, a five-film celebration of some of the best baseball movies ever made. The series begins Friday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. with the beloved classic The Natural (1984), and continues throughout the summer in the theatre's 330-seat Eppes Auditorium, featuring a big screen and 17-speaker surround sound.

The full lineup includes The Natural on Friday, May 29; A League of Their Own on Friday, June 12; Eight Men Out on Friday, July 10; Bull Durham on Friday, July 24; and Field of Dreams on Friday, August 14, with all screenings beginning at 6:30 p.m.

“Join us for our curated series of some of the best and most honored baseball movies ever made,” said Steve Jackson, CEO and Managing Director of the theatre, noting that "all films are restored and presented in the Park's signature and award-winning large-format cinematic setting. Plus, be ready for some surprise announcements to be made during the film series."

Tickets are available through The Park Theatre's website where movie titles are listed with tickets and event details. The theatre is located at 19 Main Street in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Ticket pricing for each film in the series is $10 gerneal admission and $9 for seniors, children 12 and under, students, teachers and active military

EMMA Will Be Performed at Players Ring as Final Show of 2025-26 Season

“Emma,” a reimagining of Jane Austen’s beloved classic, will be on stage at the Players Ring May 29 through June 21.

Written by Kate Hamill and directed by Ro Gavin, the audience will see Emma Woodhouse as clever, charming, and perhaps a little too confident in her matchmaking abilities. Determined to orchestrate the romantic lives of everyone around her – while insisting she’ll never marry herself – Emma soon discovers that love has a habit of ignoring even the best-laid plans.

Playwright Kate Hamill infuses Austen’s world with razor-sharp humor, contemporary energy, and delicious theatricality, turning Emma into a fast-paced comedy of vanity, flirtation, and glorious social missteps.

Director Ro Gavin said “Emma” had always been their favorite classic novel.

“It is so empowering to see a script with dynamic and incredible roles for women in theatre,” they said. “The Ring is also one of my favorite venues, and it always challenges me as a director and creative. I felt like this piece would reap the greatest rewards for myself as a director and for our team as creatives in this space.”

The biggest challenge is finding the balance between the screwball comedy and the honesty of the piece,” Gavin said.

“When directing a comedy, you can't just go for a laugh; you have to really understand the depth and severity of the situations for the characters. Kate Hamill does an excellent job in her adaptation of staying true to the story while leaving room for comedic home runs, but it takes a group of very smart and witty artists to really be able to nail it.”

Gavin credits the cast as “by far, the most incredible group I've had to work with.”

“Everyone brings a very ‘yes and’ attitude into the space and I feel connected with everyone and able to coalesce between all our different working styles,” they added. “Furthermore, as a director, I have never felt safer with a group of actors to pitch some absolute insanity and to be met with welcoming and willing attitudes. The room is completely electric.”

Gavin said Ciara L. Neidlinger, who plays Emma, is a tour de force. This is Neidlinger’s debut at the Ring.

“She is carrying this show with ease and poise; we couldn't present this piece without her expertise. And our Harriet, (played by Gabby Bubrick), is without a doubt one of the most talented young women I've had the pleasure to work with. She has such a warm collaborative energy and a thoughtful professionalism about her. If she is the model of what is to come for the theatre industry, I can't wait to see where we are heading.”

Neidlinger said she is “ecstatic to be making my Players Ring debut.” “I am looking forward to the intimacy between performer and audience that The Ring naturally creates. And our production team has more up their sleeves to make Emma even more interactive for audiences,” she said.

Neidlinger said Emma is tumultuous. “We see her bursting with love, to brimming with feminine advocacy, to manipulating her friends, and chewing out one of her dearest teachers,” she said. “What we see is the battle that all young women seem to face, between what society has set aside for us and where our own inclinations lead. As Mrs. Weston (played by Olivia Sowell) says, a lady who is trapped between worlds ‘eats too much, she over-primps, she engages in silly dramas, she meddles with her friends' lives And yes, she takes out her frustrations on others.’ I love her dearly because I see and understand her frustrations. At the same time, she is not always a good friend. Emma is a complex character and I’m so excited to bring her to life onstage.”

Majestic Theatre will present Of Mice and Men this summer, from June 19 – 21. In this powerful tragedy, John Steinbeck's stage adaptation of his classic novel, explores the friendship between two migrant workers, affable George and mentally challenged Lennie, and their dream of owning a farm.

Two drifters, George and his friend Lennie, with delusions of living off the “fat of the land,” have just arrived at a ranch to work for enough money to buy their own place. Lennie is a little boy in the body of a dangerously powerful man. Lennie's obsessions with things soft and cuddly have made George cautious about with whom the gentle giant, with his brute strength, associates. His promise to allow Lennie to “tend to the rabbits” on their future land keeps Lennie calm, as the two men work towards their dream. But when a ranch boss's promiscuous wife is found dead in the barn with a broken neck, George knows that Lennie killed her. Now worried about his own safety, George finds Lennie in his favorite hiding spot. Realizing they can no longer run away, George is faced with a moral question: How should he deal with Lennie before the ranchers find him and take matters into their own hands?
