All new photos have been released of the cast of Entr’Acte Theatrix' production of Cats, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic, award-winning, record-breaking, family-friendly feline musical. The show will open at the William G Skaff Center in West Palm Beach and run from June 12th through the 28th. Check out the photos below!

A completely sung and danced-through musical, Cats tells the story of a tribe of cats called The Jellicles, who have gathered to make ‘the Jellicle Choice’ – deciding which cat will be chosen to the ascend to the Heavyside Layer and come back to a new life.

A HUMAN BEING DIED THAT NIGHT to Open at Willow Theatre from Boca Stage

Boca Stage will return to its roots with A Human Being Died That Night, Nicolas Wright's searing and award-winning adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela's powerful account of her interviews with South Africa's state-sanctioned mass murderer Eugene De Kock. The play will run at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton from December 4th through December 20th, 2026.

Eugene de Kock was a paid White political assassin nick-named “Prime Evil” for his crimes against anti-apartheid activists. While he was serving his multiple life sentences at Pretoria's C-Max prison, Black psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela went to interview him. As she attempts to unravel De Kock's psychology, their conversations – and the play - offer a rare, penetrating look at how one of the 20th century's bloodiest regimes came to be and the agonizing path toward healing and compassion.

A Human Being Died That Night - to be directed by Boca Stage founder Keith Garsson - will feature Carbonell and Silver Palm award-winner Rita Cole as psychologist Gobodo-Madikizela and veteran New York actor and South Florida favorite Steve Carroll as de Kock.

“This production perfectly highlights Boca Stage's signature style of intense, dark, and highly personal stage dramas,” Garsson says. “The play becomes its own mystery in terms of unraveling how a family man could justify such errant behavior. It is enthralling to see how there are no easy answers as the play becomes a cat-and-mouse chase burrowing into the dark recesses of our minds.”

JAGUAR PARADE to Transform Miami With Public Art During FIFA World Cup

As Miami plays host to seven FIFA World Cup games June 11 to July 19, 2026, monumental jaguar animal sculptures created by 11 Brazilian artists will be painted and presented throughout Miami during that time, transforming Miami into a free, global, open-air art experience.

Called The Jaguar Parade Miami 2026, the jaguar animal sculptures are to increase public awareness about jaguar conservation in the wild. The 11 jaguar sculptures will be auctioned off and proceeds will benefit Onçafari, the internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to jaguar conservation and protection in Brazil.

The jaguar animal sculptures will be created, painted and placed in Coral Gables, Pinecrest Gardens, Lincoln Road, Miami Beach Bandshell, Miami Gardens, Sunny Isle Beach (Collins Avenue), and Casa Rolando (Wynwood)

Arriving at a moment when Miami will be welcoming unprecedented international attention and global audiences, Jaguar Parade connects public art, environmental awareness and cultural exchange through immersive installations designed to engage diverse communities and visitors from around the world.

Created and produced by Artery, the Miami edition will feature 11 large-scale jaguar sculptures installed across key locations throughout the city. Blending artistic expression with environmental purpose, the installations are designed to spark curiosity, interaction and meaningful conversations around nature and conservation.

Among the featured works, one sculpture will be painted live during a special activation in June by acclaimed Brazilian urban figurative artist Fabiano Senk. Based in São Paulo, Senk is recognized for his dreamlike color palettes and large-scale works exploring themes of community, identity and human connection.

The exhibition will also feature works by Brazilian artists Gus Attab, Laila Mackenzie, Busy, Livia Mourão & Rui Machado, Guilherme Kramer, Kássia Borges, Lettice, Vinicius Zoia, Sophie Reiterman and Cíntia Abravanel - each bringing distinct artistic perspectives inspired by biodiversity, coexistence and environmental preservation.

Following successful editions in cities including New York, Paris, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Jaguar Parade arrives in Miami as part of its international expansion into some of the world's leading cultural capitals. To date, the initiative has brought together more than 225 artists and impacted over 30 million people globally, generating more than 336 million media and digital impressions worldwide.

This edition also carries special significance as it celebrates the 15th anniversary of Onçafari, the internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to jaguar conservation and biodiversity protection in Brazil.

"Being part of the Jaguar Parade is a major milestone for Onçafari and an opportunity to expand our international presence while sharing the conservation work we have developed across Brazil and Latin America," said Mario Haberfeld, founder of Onçafari. "As we celebrate 15 years of history, we are proud of the legacy we've built in jaguar conservation and habitat protection."

Today, Onçafari operates 23 conservation bases across nine Brazilian states, directly managing more than 125,000 hectares and supporting the protection of over 2 million hectares of natural areas. At the conclusion of the exhibition, 100% of the auction's net proceeds will support the organization's ongoing conservation efforts and future initiatives.

The Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center will present Summer Dances & Two Pianos bringing together two of South Florida's most innovative arts organizations - Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami (DDTM) and Dranoff 2 Piano Fusion - for a bold new collaboration celebrating the dynamic fusion of contemporary ballet and live music.

Presented by The Moss Center, the highly anticipated performance marks the first-ever collaboration between DDTM and Dranoff, featuring internationally acclaimed piano duo Stephanie & Saar performing live alongside DDTM's world-class dancers in an evening of innovation, artistry, and cultural expression.

A program of virtuosic movement and musical brilliance, Summer Dances & Two Pianos will showcase an electrifying company premiere by award winning choreographer DaYoung Jung, alongside world premiere commissions by DDTM Artistin-Residence Yanis Eric Pikieris and company dancers/choreographers Selah Jane Oliver and Rafael Ruiz-del-Vizo.

The program explores the exhilarating interplay between neoclassical dance and live twopiano performance, creating a thrilling evening pushing classical art forms into fresh and vibrant territory.

Musically, the evening traverses a richly varied landscape - from the haunting contemporary textures of composer Alfonso Peduto's Aftermath to the sweeping lyricism of Ludwig van Beethoven's beloved Pastorale. One of the evening's signature highlights will be a new creation by Pikieris set to Fantasia de Tres Mundos, a vibrant jazz-infused composition by Dranoff Music Director Martin Bejerano inspired by Miami's layered cultural rhythms and cosmopolitan spirit.

Gary Schweikhart, president of the Carbonell Awards, today announced that “South Florida's Theater & Arts Honors” is seeking nominations for up to eight additional Special Awards that will be presented at the 49th annual Carbonell Awards Ceremony on Monday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. at FAU's University Theatre in Boca Raton.

The Vinnette Carroll Award for significant achievement in advancing the cause of diversity, equality, and inclusion in South Florida theater.

Previous winners of this award include Michel Hausman, co-founder and artistic director of Miami New Drama (2025); director, actor, and college educator John Pryor (2024); Christina Alexander & Katie Christie, for leading the South Florida Theatre League's Anti-Racism Theatre Strategies Cohorts (2023); and Marshall L. Davis, who served for nearly 40 years as managing director of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCAC) in Miami's Liberty City (2022).

The Charlie Cinnamon Award honors an individual who contributes significantly to the support of the arts in South Florida and to the Carbonell Awards program.

The Carbonell Awards Board of Directors will review all nominations before selecting which Special Awards to present this year and each recipient. The winners of the 2026 Carbonell Special Awards will be announced one-per-week starting in late July.

The Carbonell Awards announced last month that the 2026 recipient of the prestigious George Abbott Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts is Stuart Meltzer, founding artistic director of Zoetic Stage.

In September, the Board will announce this year's 120 Carbonell Award finalists in 20 competitive categories based on accumulated scores from the nonprofit organization's pool of nearly 50 experienced and diverse volunteer judges—with seven judges from various counties assigned to each show.

This season's Carbonell Awards will be presented at a glittery ceremony on November 16 that is South Florida's version of Broadway's Tony Awards. Hundreds of actors, musicians, performers, writers, directors, back-stage technicians, producers, reviewers, designers, specialty artists, and diehard theater fans are expected to attend the event that is being produced and directed by Andrew Kato, Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, with the award-winning Caryl Fantel serving as Music Director. Eloisa Ferrer is returning as the production's Coordinating Producer. Tickets for the ceremony and after party are only $45 and will go on public sale in mid-October.

The Carbonell Awards announced last month that the 2026 recipient of the prestigious George Abbott Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts is Stuart Meltzer, founding artistic director of Zoetic Stage.

In September, the Board will announce this year’s 120 Carbonell Award finalists in 20 competitive categories based on accumulated scores from the nonprofit organization’s pool of nearly 50 experienced and diverse volunteer judges—with seven judges from various counties assigned to each show.

This season’s Carbonell Awards will be presented at a glittery ceremony on November 16 that is South Florida’s version of Broadway’s Tony Awards®. Hundreds of actors, musicians, performers, writers, directors, back-stage technicians, producers, reviewers, designers, specialty artists, and diehard theater fans are expected to attend the event that is being produced and directed by Andrew Kato, Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, with the award-winning Caryl Fantel serving as Music Director. Henderson Behavioral Health to Launch Poppy Project Art Installation to Honor Veterans

Henderson Behavioral Health (HBH) recently launched The Poppy Project, a public art initiative and visual display of remembrance and patriotism which honors veterans while raising awareness and funds for critical mental health services.

The five-and 6-foot striking fiberglass poppy flowers, a remembrance of those who protect and serve our country, made their first appearance at Tunnel Top Plaza in Downtown Fort Lauderdale just in time for Memorial Day. The next pop-up garden photo opportunity experience will be at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 East Sunrise Boulevard) from September 10 – November 10, 2026.

“The Poppy Project is a powerful way for our community to come together in remembrance of those who have patriotically served our country and to honor them by supporting vital mental health programs and services,” said Dr. Steven Ronik, CEO of Henderson Behavioral Health. “Through this initiative, we are not only honoring service and sacrifice but also ensuring that those who have served and continue to protect our country receive the care they deserve.”

This launch also kicked off the virtual Legacy Wall which allows friend and families to honor loved one who have served or are currently serving our country. The campaign will continue throughout the year, aligning with nationally recognized holidays including Independence Day and Veterans Day. Poppy flowers are still available for individual or business sponsorships.

Funds raised will directly support Henderson Behavioral Health's VICTORY (Veterans in Counseling to Obtain Recovery) Program, which provides free mental health services to veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their families, including outreach and education across South Florida, workshops addressing mental health challenges impacting military families, and individual and relationship therapy offered both in clinical settings and within the community.

Inspired by the poppy's historical significance as a symbol of sacrifice, rooted in the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields,” and later adopted as a national emblem of remembrance, The Poppy Project brings this tradition to life in a local and meaningful way.

BroadwayWorld Launches Producer Fantasy Game

Ever watched the weekly Broadway grosses roll in and thought you could pick the winners? Now you can put it to the test. BroadwayWorld has launched the Producer Fantasy Game, a free, season-long competition that lets theatre fans build a roster of Broadway shows and earn points based on how those productions actually perform at the box office. The draft window is open now.

How It Works

The setup is simple. During the draft window, you pick any six Broadway productions that opened this season. Drafting is non-exclusive, so there is no need to race a rival for a hot title. Any number of players can roster the same show.

From there, your shows go to work for you. Every week, each production on your roster earns fantasy points based on its reported box office grosses and capacity percentages. When Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations and wins are announced, your shows bank bonus points on top of that. And each week you can answer our Fantasy Forecast prediction questions for up to five bonus points per correct call.

Weekly Scoring

Each week, a show earns one base point for every $50,000 it grosses, so a $1 million week is worth 20 base points. On top of that, shows can earn bonuses: up to five points for filling seats (based on how close to full capacity the house ran), six points for grossing $2 million or more (or three points for grossing between $1 million and $2 million), and eight points if its gross jumped at least 15 percent from the week before. A show loses four points if its gross dropped at least 15 percent. If a show goes dark and reports no gross for a week, it scores zero for that week with no penalty.

The Fantasy Forecast

The Producer Fantasy Game is really two games in one. The first is the box office game: drafting shows and earning points from their weekly grosses and awards. The second is the Fantasy Forecast, a weekly set of prediction questions about what's happening on Broadway, where each correct answer is worth up to five points. You can play one or both.

We track them separately so you can shine at either. Your Producer score covers the box office game, your Forecast score covers your prediction results, and your Combined score adds the two together for the overall championship ranking. The leaderboard lets you toggle between Overall, Producers, and Forecasters, so a sharp predictor can top the Forecasters board even during a rough season for their roster, and a roster powerhouse can lead the Producers board without answering a single question.

Managing Your Roster

Your lineup stays at six shows all season, and you have plenty of room to maneuver. You get one free drop every week, three additional season drops to use anytime before the trade deadline, and free replacements whenever a show on your roster closes. New productions open throughout the season and become available the moment they start reporting grosses, so it pays to keep a transaction in your pocket for that buzzy new opening.

Draft within the first two weeks of the season and your roster is scored from opening week, so the earlier you get in, the more weeks you bank. Jonathan Maurer Joins Norton Museum of Art Board of Trustees

The Norton Museum of Art's Board of Trustees has elected a new member, Jonathan Maurer.

He joins the Norton at a pivotal moment in the Museum's history, as it looks ahead to the next phase of its Master Plan created by Foster + Partners.

"Jonathan's experience in both the corporate and nonprofit worlds will be invaluable to the Norton Museum of Art as it continues to grow," said Kelly Williams, Norton Board Chair. "We warmly welcome his perspectives and his contributions to the Norton's next chapter."

Maurer is the Co-CEO of OPAL Fuels Inc., a leading national producer and distributor of renewable biogas listed on the NASDAQ. He is responsible for the production of compressed natural gas and using it to fuel heavy duty trucks to displace fossil diesel.

Prior to working at OPAL Fuels and its predecessor company, Fortistar Capital, Maurer worked in finance at JP Morgan Chase. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from St. Lawrence University.

Maurer and his wife, Gretchen Shugart, reside in West Palm Beach, New York City, and Southport, Connecticut, and have two grown children. They have collected art for many years and are proud to support the Norton Museum of Art and other nonprofit arts organizations personally and through the Maurer Family Foundation.

Locally, he is a member of the Sailfish Club and a Trustee of The Society of the Four Arts.

Jonathan Maurer's father, Gilbert Maurer, was a longtime Trustee of the Norton who was instrumental in the 2019 expansion of the Museum. He passed away in 2025.

Feeding South Florida Names Winner of 7th Annual 'Feed Your Creativity' Art Competition

Feeding South Florida® – the leading hunger-relief organization in South Florida – is proud to announce that Liam ValdezLee, an 8th-grade student from Shenandoah Middle Magnet School, was named the winner of its Seventh Annual “Feed Your Creativity” Art Competition.

Elementary, middle and high school students throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties competed for the opportunity to have their artwork displayed on one of Feeding South Florida's semi-trailer truck wrap – a 36-foot moving billboard that travels throughout South Florida. ValdezLee was recognized during a gallery night at Feeding South Florida’s Pembroke Park warehouse on May 14, where all the submitted artwork was exhibited. Following, the semi-trailer truck was revealed during a celebration at Shenandoah Middle Magnet School on May 28. ValdezLee’s artwork will be prominently celebrated and displayed at Feeding South Florida’s Pembroke Park warehouse and recognized on social media.

Feeding South Florida’s mission is to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.

“A Drag Queen Christmas” will return for its 12th year, launching a 39-city national tour this November - December. The 2026 edition is hosted by returning fan favorite and theatre star Nina West, and features an all-new merry lineup of drag superstars from the Emmy-winning RuPaul's Drag Race franchise.

Review: The Wick Theatre’s CHER SHOW Scores with a Talented Cast & Tony Award-Winning Costumes

The Cher Show ended its monthlong run at The Wick Theatre on Sunday, May 31st, playing to full houses. All I can say is, leave it to Marilynn Wick to line up a booking like this as CHER celebrates her 80th birthday.

The production was super glamorous and all three Chers were terrific in their own right and the time period they were presented in. With a live orchestra and a crackling staging, the audience lapped it up. And, then, the Bob Mackie costumes. What more to say. Genius.

Eda and I had seen The Cher Show the week before, but I didn’t think to bring my camera, so we went back yesterday. This, after a great visit with Marilynn her daughter Kimberly Wick and legendary Broadway Producer Kenny Greenblatt and Sandi.

If you live in the Boca Raton area, you must come to see a show here. If you’re visiting during season, put it at the top of your list. Also, the food in their Tavern provides an excellent dining experience.

The Wick puts on high quality productions of musicals and with only 340 seats, brings a close-up excitement to their shows.

They are also famous for their Costume Museum and have become a true theatre hub for the community, also recognized at a national level.

Brévo Theatre will present the South Florida premiere of “The Color Purple,” a powerful musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the acclaimed 1985 Steven Spielberg film, June 20-28 at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center.

Directed by Bryan Keyth Wilson and choreographed by TM Pride, the epic story follows Celie, a young woman who endures unimaginable hardship and embarks on a profound journey of resilience, self-discovery and empowerment across 40 years. The production is brought to life through a dynamic score blending jazz, ragtime, gospel, blues and African music.

SONIC LIVE IN CONCERT to Launch Global Tour With US and UK Premieres

As Sonic the Hedgehog celebrates 35 years as one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time, Senbla and SEGA today announced Sonic Live In Concert (www.sonicliveinconcert.com). This new concert experience brings the music and moments of the beloved video games to the stage.

Featuring iconic moments and music from the very first game in 1991 through today, the production will debut in the U.S. at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on September 26, 2026, before making its European premiere at London's Eventim Apollo on September 30. The U.S. tour will visit more than 30 cities nationwide, and a UK tour will follow in February 2027. More European dates will be announced at a later time. Tickets will go on sale May 29, 2026, with pre-sale tickets going on sale on May 28, 2026.

As part of a global rollout celebrating the franchise's milestone anniversary, Sonic Live In Concert features the most recognizable music from the Sonic universe, performed by a live ensemble alongside rock musicians, vocalists, and electronic elements. The setlist includes fan-favorite tracks and an incredible array of music from the very first game through to today accompanied by synchronized HD footage of iconic levels, moments and boss battles from the franchise. Palm Beach Symphony has announced the three recipients of the 2026 Randolph A. Frank Prize for the Performing Arts. Instrumental musician Mickey Smith Jr. was named Performing Artist, dancer Heather Lescaillewas named Performing Arts Educator and choral musician Roberto J. Vidal was named Emerging Artist.

These deserving awardees were honored for their contributions to the enhancement of the cultural and artistic life of Palm Beach County, commitment to excellence in the field and, when applicable, their teaching experience. Since 2019, Palm Beach Symphony has annually honored up to three individual performing artists and arts educators in Palm Beach County who split a $10,000 monetary prize.

Mickey Smith Jr. was recognized in the category of Performing Artist. Palm Beach Symphony previously honored him as the 2024 Instrumental Music Teacher of the Year for his accomplishments as Associate Director of Instrumental Arts at The King's Academy in West Palm Beach. The Louisiana native is an acclaimed saxophonist who earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Smith can regularly be found performing in the heart of West Palm Beach at CityPlace. Using his gift of music, he is always uplifting the spirits of those in attendance at his performances. With his combination of saxophone playing and verbal communication during his motivational speaker engagements across the country, he elevates teachers' mindsets through empowering messaging. Smith also invites students to perform alongside him to give them real-world performing experience. He has been the featured artist in Downtown West Palm Beach's Soul in the City Concert Series and performs for 10,000 people annually. He has also performed alongside legends including Gloria Gaynor, Wendy Moten, Wycliffe Gordon and Jeremy Jordan, and performs not only as a solo artist but with his band Sax in the City comprised of his family, wife/singer Eugenia, daughter/singer/musician Mikayla and son/trumpet player William. Smith's playing is characterized by technical precision and a soulful, rich tone that resonates emotionally with listeners, making him stand out as a performer who connects on a personal level with his audience.

Recipient of the Randoph A. Frank Prize in the Performing Arts Educator category is Heather Lescaille. The Palm Beach Gardens native is a member of the first class of dance majors at the Palm Beach County School of the Arts, which is now Bak Middle School of the Arts and Dreyfoos School of the Arts. In 2014, Lescaille returned to Dreyfoos and in 2016 she was appointed dean of the dance department. In this leadership role, she has choreographed original ballets and staged classical repertoire including Don Quixote, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty, Pas de Quatre, The Nutcracker, Napoli Variations, Diane and Acteon, and La Bayadère. A strong advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration, Lescaille directed Synergy in 2017 and 2018, encompassing large-scale productions uniting the dance and orchestra departments. These performances provided students the opportunity to collaborate on major works such as Balanchine's Serenade and Concerto Barocco, as well as Swan Lake. For the past three years, she has directed the Winter Arts Medley at Dreyfoos, a school-wide performance that engages every art area onstage and behind the scenes. The production has become a beloved holiday tradition and a celebration of the school's collaborative spirit. In 2022, Lescaille was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the most influential teacher of a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Lescaille was previously a faculty member of the Orlando Ballet School and a principal teacher for the trainee program and upper school division at Ballet Florida. Following the closure of Ballet Florida in 2009, she co-founded and co-directed the Florida Dance Conservatory, a community dance school providing pre-professional training for students ages three to 18. Lescaille's vision is to continue the Dreyfoos legacy by inspiring young artists to think creatively, work with discipline and pursue their dreams. Beyond technical excellence, her commitment is to guide students toward becoming thoughtful, responsible and successful adults.

This year's honoree in the Emerging Artist category is Roberto J. Vidal. Cuban-born and South Florida raised, Vidal serves as the Chorus Director, Vocal Academy Director and Fine Arts Department Chair at Eagles Landing Middle School in Boca Raton, Florida. In his seven years there, he has led his choral program to exceptional success, consistently earning high ratings in district assessments and competitions. Vidal's choirs are recognized as the only public, non-auditioned middle school choral groups in Palm Beach County with two ensembles earning Superior with Distinction ratings at district assessments. Most recently, his program was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Latin Grammy in the Schools presented by the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, further cementing its reputation for excellence. He was also named a 2026 GRAMMY Music Educator Award Quarterfinalist and selected as the 2025–2026 Middle School Conductor for both the Palm Beach County District Honor Choir and the Spotlight on Young Musicians concert at the Kravis Center. His ensembles have graced renowned stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York (2023), Benaroya Hall in Seattle (2024), the Honolulu Heritage Festival in Hawaii (2025) and Lincoln Center in New York (2026). His students regularly participate in prestigious district and state honor choirs, as well as solo student performances on national platforms including The Voice and America's Got Talent. Vidal is the founder of the ELMS Vocal Academy, offering students exceptional solo training across various genres. He also serves as a conductor with the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, where he leads the Bel Canto and Encore ensembles. He is a dedicated and active musician, frequently contributing as a vocalist, accompanist, clinician and adjudicator throughout Florida. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Directors Association and the Florida Vocal Association. Driven by a deep passion for musical excellence and the vocal development of young voices, Vidal pursued a bachelor's in music education at Florida State University, graduating summa cum laude with a double major in voice and piano, and is currently advancing his expertise with a Master of Music Education. He creates a safe and welcoming learning environment in the chorus room at The Nest while sharing his passions and talents with the music industry at large.

FALSTAFF World Premiere to Open Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival's Free Summer Series

The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival invites everyone to be a part of history with a world premiere play celebrating the Bard of Avon's favorite character during the 36th Annual Shakespeare by the Sea production of William Shakespeare's FALSTAFF. Created by festival Artistic Director, Trent Stephens, the beloved “Lord of Misrule” is brought to life through Shakespeare's own text. The free, outdoor annual tradition is presented in partnership with Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation on July 9 – 12 and July 16 – 19 at the Seabreeze Amphitheatre in Carlin Park, Jupiter. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with pre-show entertainment from Devon “The Sonnet Man” Glover each evening and joined by guest musical artist Leoncarlo Canlas on July 16 - 19.

“It seems somewhat incongruous to call William Shakespeare's FALSTAFF a world premiere when we are using text that is over 400 years old,” says Stephens. “However, creating this play is an extraordinary opportunity to put the spotlight on Shakespeare's favorite character. We love Shakespeare for his ability to capture humanity in every aspect, and Falstaff is Shakespeare's most well drawn character.” Stephens continues. “He is a liar, a coward, a thief, and a glutton, yet he remains deeply lovable and intensely human. Falstaff takes great joy in life and is ‘not only witty in himself, but the cause that wit is in other men.'”

Veteran actor Patrick Price (Measure for Measure, PBSF) will perform the titular role of Falstaff. Entr'Acte Theatrix will present Andrew Lloyd Webber's award-winning, record-breaking, family friendly feline musical Cats at the William G Skaff Center in West Palm Beach from June 12th through the 28th.

Based upon Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, TS Eliot's 1939 whimsical collection of poems that humorously describe the personalities and behaviors of various cats, the musical has won numerous awards, had one of the longest runs in Broadway history, and has been seen by millions around the world. A newly imagined version of the show - Cats: The Jellicle Ball - is currently enjoying a hit run on Broadway.

A completely sung and danced-through musical, Cats tells the story of a tribe of cats called The Jellicles, who have gathered to make ‘the Jellicle Choice' – deciding which cat will be chosen to the ascend to the Heavyside Layer and come back to a new life.

“This show is a bit of a departure for us,” says Entr'Acte Theatrix' founder and producer Vicki Halmos. “It's a challenge we're excited to take on, and we have found an incredibly talented cast who are confident, creative, and enthusiastic. They have embraced their feline personalities with great passion - it's been a real treat to watch this show take shape.”

Cats' Director/Choreographer is Amber Lebrun. Music Director is Aaliyah Hirt; Elizabeth Southwell will serve as the production's Technical Director; the Production Stage Manager is Milo OConnor; and the Production Manager is Carlo Sabusap.

JUNETEENTH EXPERIENCE to Return to Miami and Fort Lauderdale with Hued Songs

Hued Songs will present The Juneteenth Experience 2026, a month-long series of free cultural programming from May 23 through June 20, 2026, across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, celebrating Juneteenth through music, dance, spoken word, visual art and community gathering.

The series builds toward Hued Songs' signature Mainstage Performance, which will be presented in Miami Beach on June 19 and Fort Lauderdale on June 20.

Now in its sixth year, The Juneteenth Experience has grown from a single sold-out performance at the Miami Beach Bandshell in 2021 into one of South Florida's most anticipated cultural traditions. What began as a one-night performance has evolved into a month-long, multidisciplinary, multi-venue celebration designed to engage audiences throughout the weeks leading up to Juneteenth.

This year's series unfolds under Hued Songs' 2025-2026 season theme, “We, Too, Sing America,” inspired by the Langston Hughes poem. As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the series asks what America sounds, looks and feels like when all of its voices are present, counted and celebrated.

“The Juneteenth Experience is more than a single performance,” said Kunya Rowley, executive artistic director and executive producer of Hued Songs. “It is a month of artistic and community-centered programming that creates space for reflection, joy and connection while honoring the depth and legacy of Black expression.”

Florida Emancipation Day Celebration

The series opens with a vibrant, family-friendly celebration honoring May 20, 1865, the date Florida's enslaved people received word of their freedom. The event will feature workshops led by Alana DaCosta, a community block party, live DJ, free catered bites by Sidecar Catering, creative placemaking stations, a pop-up market of local vendors and a featured outdoor performance with Wilkie Ferguson III, Miriam King, Arsimmer McCoy and Inez Barlatier.

As part of Hued Songs' two-year performance residency with the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, this free intergenerational workshop invites participants to engage with the themes of The Juneteenth Experience through hands-on artistic practice led by Pangea Kali Virga — inviting community into a shared act of creation that honors the past, holds the present, and gestures toward a freer future through a collective Emancipation Flag craft experience.

Hued Songs will present Where We Stay, a visual art exhibition curated by Tayina Deravile, featuring nine South Florida based artists. The exhibition explores themes of home within Black communities while honoring the history of the Sistrunk neighborhood and the legacy of Dr. James and Daisy Sistrunk. The exhibit runs through the end of August.

The series culminates in The Juneteenth Experience Mainstage Performance, Hued Songs' signature concert-theater production and the emotional centerpiece of the festival. Presented in the same full production across two locations, the work will be performed in Miami Beach on June 19 and Fort Lauderdale on June 20, expanding access to audiences in both counties.

The production asks a bold question: Who is America, and who gets to say so? Through gospel, blues, R&B and classical traditions, original spoken word, live music, choreography and visual storytelling, the performance honors Black artistic tradition as central to the American story.

This year's mainstage performances also carry added significance. Following the loss and rescission of funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, Hued Songs considered whether the production could continue. In the spirit of Juneteenth and the perseverance it represents, the organization chose to move forward.

The cast, creative and production team includes Kunya Rowley, executive artistic director and executive producer; Clinton Harris, choreographer and dancer; King Friday, musical director; Miriam King, gospel and soul vocalist and writer; Erron Cooper, gospel vocalist; Wilkie Ferguson, III, Broadway performer & vocalist; Eric Nelson, technical and lighting director; Sandi Stock, production stage manager; and Quincy Knowles, sound and projection technician.

Review: La Poubelle – A Glamorous New 'Entre Nous' Cabaret on Miami Beach

On Saturday May 23, Eda and I ventured down to Miami and into an alley to enter a place called La Poubelle (French for "the trash"). You literally enter through a back door, between trash cans; hence the name of the venue.

This place is a hidden gem and the occasion was a celebration of a double birthday party for Richard Jay-Alexander and Lee Schrager of South Beach and New York City Wine and Food Festivals.

What a space and as it holds about 52 people, you immediately get to know your neighbors and become one as a small and mighty crowd. It was extraordinary.

This desirable cabaret club is the brainchild of David Sexton and the owners of Silverlake Bistro, Sandy Sanchez and Benoit Rablat. They opened in August of 2024 and it’s, sort of, a little hidden treasure in North Beach.

Great staff and service and the food was, quite simply, delicious.

With Eric Alsford at the piano, we were treated to local talents Franser Pazos and Maya Azucean. Also, David introduced us to Jordan Kleiner, who is becoming a Senior in High School and plans to pursue a professional career (mentored by Mr. Jay-Alexander) and Nina Marie, part of the Young Musicians Unite program (ymu.org).

A big surprise came when it was announced that Sirius XM on Broadway’s Julie James was here to help host the evening. She was in sterling voice and it was emotional for Richard and Lee.

Richard and Lee performed together ( I GOT YOU BABE ) and another great surprise was when Richard introduced Harry Casey (they have been friends for decades) and we put on our KC And The Sunshine Band “Boogie Shoes.”

La Paubelle features a piano bar every Thursday and cabaret shows on Fridays or Sundays. Nicole Henry and Nicolas King were two of the inaugural Cabaret bookings.
