BEETLEJUICE, WAITRESS and More Set for Broadway At The Harris Center 2026-2027 Season

Harris Center for the Arts has announced its 2026-2027 Broadway series, featuring five national touring productions coming to Folsom throughout the season. Subscription packages are on sale now, with single-ticket on-sale dates to be announced.

The season opens with Elf The Musical, running November 4-8, 2026. Based on the hit film, the musical follows Buddy, an orphan who accidentally crawls into Santa's sack of toys and is raised by elves at the North Pole. After learning he is human, Buddy travels to New York City in search of his biological father while helping those around him rediscover the spirit of Christmas.

Next is The Wiz, which will play November 12-15, 2026. The Tony Award-winning musical reimagines The Wizard of Oz through a score infused with soul, gospel, rock and funk. The revival follows Dorothy's journey to find her place in the world while encountering familiar characters along the Yellow Brick Road.

Beetlejuice arrives January 12-17, 2027. Based on the film by Tim Burton, the musical centers on Lydia Deetz, a teenager whose life changes after she meets a recently deceased couple and the irreverent Beetlejuice. The production combines comedy, spectacle and an emotional story about family and belonging.

Immediately following is Jersey Boys, running January 19-24, 2027. The Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, charting the group's rise from New Jersey street corners to international stardom. The score includes such hits as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man," "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," "Beggin'" and "Working My Way Back to You."

The season concludes with Waitress, playing May 13-18, 2027. Featuring music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson, the musical follows Jenna, a waitress and talented pie maker who dreams of a better future. When an unexpected opportunity presents itself, she must decide whether to take a chance on a new beginning. The production celebrates friendship, motherhood and self-discovery through an original score that includes songs such as "She Used to Be Mine."

In addition to the five-show Broadway series, Harris Center will offer two optional add-on productions.

Menopause The Musical will play September 24-27, 2026. The long-running musical comedy follows four women who meet while shopping and bond over the shared experiences of menopause. Featuring parodies of popular songs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, the production has entertained audiences around the world for more than two decades.

Stomp arrives February 11-14, 2027. The international percussion phenomenon transforms everyday objects—including brooms, garbage cans, hubcaps and wooden poles—into musical instruments in a performance built on rhythm, movement and physical comedy.

Subscriptions for the 2026-2027 Broadway season are available through the Harris Center Box Office by phone, in person and online. Single-ticket on-sale dates will be announced at a later date.

Inspired by the hit film, Elf The Musical follows Buddy, a young orphan whose life changes forever when he mistakenly crawls into Santa's sack of toys one Christmas Eve. After discovering he is human, Buddy travels to New York City to find his birth father and helps those around him rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. Based on the 2024 Broadway production, the musical features a score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin and a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.

The Wiz

November 12-15, 2026

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical returns in a new touring production direct from Broadway. Featuring a score that blends soul, gospel, rock and funk, The Wiz reimagines Dorothy's journey through Oz while celebrating themes of self-discovery, community and belonging.

Beetlejuice

January 12-17, 2027
Eight performances over six days.

Based on the film by Tim Burton, Beetlejuice follows Lydia Deetz, a teenager whose life is transformed after she encounters a recently deceased couple and the mischievous Beetlejuice. The musical combines comedy, spectacle and heart in a story about family, grief and embracing life.

ONE NIGHT OF QUEEN: A Tribute Performed By Gary Mullen & The Works will return with a brand new show, paying homage to Queen's legendary “Magic Tour,” their final tour with Freddie Mercury which was never played in the USA. The performance will take place on Friday, July 17th.

In 2000, Gary Mullen won the UK's most watched talent contest, ITV's “Stars in Their Eyes,” with his performance as Queen's iconic lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Mullen's embodiment of Freddie Mercury resulted in him gaining 864,838 landline votes in the show's Live Grand Final. The number of fans who voted for Mullen was more than double that of the runner-up, thus setting the all-time record number of votes in the history of the show.

The year 2000 was the first season to use internet voting and, due to the surge of votes for Mullen, ITV's servers crashed.

Gary Mullen & The Works have performed for millions of people all over the world in over 20 countries, to sold-out audiences in many of the same venues that Queen actually played. As of 2023, they are the most successful tribute band in France, playing in arenas to over 250,000 people within that year alone.

Nevada County arts leader to guide the region's flagship cultural venue into its next chapter

GRASS VALLEY, CA, June 11, 2026 - The Center for the Arts today announced that Michelle Amador has been named its new Executive Director. A Grass Valley resident and longtime leader in Nevada County's arts community, she will begin her tenure on June 16, 2026.

Amador's connection to The Center began as an artist and community member. When she relocated to Nevada County from Brooklyn in 2017, the organization was one of the things that made the region feel like home - a world-class venue with a thriving artistic identity at the heart of a rural community. In the years since, she has become one of the area's most engaged cultural citizens, serving as Secretary of the Community Foundation of Nevada County, contributing to the development of the Grass Valley-Nevada City Cultural District's mini-grants program, serving on the board of the Nevada County Arts & Culture, and volunteering with the Equity and Inclusion Leadership Alliance of Nevada County. Beyond Nevada County, Michelle serves on the board of CA for the Arts and Arts Advocates, advancing arts policy at the state level, and co-authored From Regranting to Redistribution, a Mellon Foundation-supported toolkit on community-centered funding practices that has been shared widely across the national field.

With more than fifteen years of senior leadership in performing arts nonprofits, Amador brings a proven ability to build ambitious and sustainable fundraising programs, cultivate meaningful donor relationships, and align mission with long-term financial strength.

Over the course of her career, she has led major philanthropic campaigns and built deep partnerships with individuals, foundations, and institutions that advance cultural work at the highest level. She is also a recording artist and performer with six independent albums and appearances at the BAMcafé, San Francisco Jazz Festival, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and other venues.

"After a thorough and wide-ranging search, Michelle rose to the top because she embodies everything we hoped to find - artistic credibility, proven leadership, a real understanding of this region, and a genuine, lasting commitment to our community," said Jon Blinder, President of the Board of Directors. "We could not be more optimistic about the future of The Center under her leadership."

The sentiment is mutual. Amador, who has attended performances and followed The Center's growth as a community member for nearly a decade, brings both an insider's affection for the organization and an outsider's fresh perspective on its potential.

The Center for the Arts looks forward to welcoming Michelle Amador on June 16.

Since 2000, The Center for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization, has grown into a leading presenter of music, dance, theater, comedy, literary and visual art, and family programming, offering more than 150 events per year from its location in downtown Grass Valley. The Center recently completed a major renovation of its multiuse, 21,000-square-foot facility in downtown Grass Valley, making it a premier performing arts destination. The venue includes the Main Stage, which accommodates up to 492 guests in configurable theater seats and up to 700 patrons for dance shows, and a 90-seat studio theater.

Sutter Street Theatre Actor Jon Beaver Has Passed Away

Sutter Street Theatre has announced that local Sutter Street Theatre actor and beloved husband and grandfather, Jon Beaver, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2026. He had just finished a rousing opening weekend of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Sutter Street Theatre doing one of the things he loved most: making people laugh. He humorously referred to himself as “Mr. Eileen” since his wife of 45 years and fellow actor was also the Resident Costumer and Director of the Olde Tyme Radio Show at SST.

Jon practiced law for 50 years, primarily in the Sacramento and Placer County areas, having retired in 2020. He liked to identify himself as “an old country lawyer who moonlights as a stage performer”. As an active member of the theatre community for over 45 years, he performed in over 150 musicals, plays and productions.

He was an athlete and lettered in both track and football in high school and college. Jon also proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1962 and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Jon was known for his infectious smile, kindness, honesty and unwavering values. He lived his life with unabashed joy.

Jon is survived by his wife Eileen, children Michael Beaver, Nancy Hayes, stepson Kevin McGuire, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will be interred at a private ceremony at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. A Celebration of Life will be hosted by his family and Sutter Street Theatre on July 26, 2026, from 7:00-9:00pm at the Granite Grammar School, 909 Mormon Street, Folsom, CA.

Sacramento Music Circus has released a behind-the-scenes video featuring Costume Designer Colleen Grady, who walks viewers through her process of reimagining the icy world of Arendelle for the Broadway At Music Circus production of DISNEY'S FROZEN. Grady originally built this costume package from the ground up for Theatre Under The Stars in Houston, and she has returned to the project to deepen the detail and innovation across the production's signature looks, from Elsa's crystalline silhouettes to the warmer textures of Anna's Arendellian wardrobe.

DISNEY'S FROZEN is based on the beloved 2013 Disney animated film and features a score by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the songwriting team behind "Let It Go" and "For the First Time in Forever," with a book by Jennifer Lee. The stage musical follows sisters Elsa and Anna as they navigate fear, identity, and the transformative power of love.

The Sacramento Music Circus production performs at the UC Davis Health Pavilion June 19 through 28, as part of the company's 75th anniversary season. The thrust staging of the pavilion presents particular creative challenges for a production of this visual scale, making Grady's costume work a central element in transporting audiences to Arendelle.

DISNEY'S FROZEN continues to attract regional productions across the country. Slow Burn Theatre Company presented the musical at the Broward Center's Amaturo Theater earlier this year, and the show's international footprint is also expanding, with Shiki Theatre Company set to open a long-run engagement in Osaka in 2027.

PINOCCHIO to Make Public Debut at Sacramento Fine Arts Center with Storytellers Theater

For the first time at Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Placer Repertory Theater will perform their touring show Storytellers Theater: PINOCCHIO. Trained performers use improv & commedia to turn storytelling into interactive theater on Friday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. Performances are appropriate for students from TK through grade 6 and their families as patrons engage from their seats or volunteer to join the professional actors onstage.

For the June 26 performance, the PINOCCHIO cast includes Jessica Martinelli, who was most recently seen as the villainous Madge Larrabee in the Spring 2026 show Sherlock Holmes: The Strange Case of Miss Faulkner, John Cablao who played both Jonathan Harker and Miss Lucy in Fall 2025’s DRACULA: A Melodrama, and Natalie Bordwell, who has been performing this Spring in Placer Rep School Tours shows throughout the region. BroadwayWorld Launches Producer Fantasy Game

Ever watched the weekly Broadway grosses roll in and thought you could pick the winners? Now you can put it to the test. BroadwayWorld has launched the Producer Fantasy Game, a free, season-long competition that lets theatre fans build a roster of Broadway shows and earn points based on how those productions actually perform at the box office. The draft window is open now.

How It Works

The setup is simple. During the draft window, you pick any six Broadway productions that opened this season. Drafting is non-exclusive, so there is no need to race a rival for a hot title. Any number of players can roster the same show.

From there, your shows go to work for you. Every week, each production on your roster earns fantasy points based on its reported box office grosses and capacity percentages. When Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations and wins are announced, your shows bank bonus points on top of that. And each week you can answer our Fantasy Forecast prediction questions for up to five bonus points per correct call.

Weekly Scoring

Each week, a show earns one base point for every $50,000 it grosses, so a $1 million week is worth 20 base points. On top of that, shows can earn bonuses: up to five points for filling seats (based on how close to full capacity the house ran), six points for grossing $2 million or more (or three points for grossing between $1 million and $2 million), and eight points if its gross jumped at least 15 percent from the week before. A show loses four points if its gross dropped at least 15 percent. If a show goes dark and reports no gross for a week, it scores zero for that week with no penalty.

The Fantasy Forecast

The Producer Fantasy Game is really two games in one. The first is the box office game: drafting shows and earning points from their weekly grosses and awards. The second is the Fantasy Forecast, a weekly set of prediction questions about what's happening on Broadway, where each correct answer is worth up to five points. You can play one or both.

We track them separately so you can shine at either. Your Producer score covers the box office game, your Forecast score covers your prediction results, and your Combined score adds the two together for the overall championship ranking. The leaderboard lets you toggle between Overall, Producers, and Forecasters, so a sharp predictor can top the Forecasters board even during a rough season for their roster, and a roster powerhouse can lead the Producers board without answering a single question.

Managing Your Roster

Your lineup stays at six shows all season, and you have plenty of room to maneuver. You get one free drop every week, three additional season drops to use anytime before the trade deadline, and free replacements whenever a show on your roster closes. New productions open throughout the season and become available the moment they start reporting grosses, so it pays to keep a transaction in your pocket for that buzzy new opening.

The Producer Fantasy Game is free for all BroadwayWorld users, and you can join any time the draft window is open. Draft within the first two weeks of the season and your roster is scored from opening week, so the earlier you get in, the more weeks you bank. GoldenSky Music Festival Returns To Discovery Park In October 2027

GoldenSky Music Festival will return to Discovery Park in Sacramento, California in October 2027. It's part of a three-year commitment that will bring GoldenSky to Discovery Park in 2027, 2028 and 2029.

As plans continue to come together for the fourth year of GoldenSky, fans can mark their calendars for the weekend of October 15, 2027. Additional details — including exact festival dates, the initial artist lineup, and early bird on-sale information — will be announced this October.

Music fans are also invited to help shape the 2027 event by participating in GoldenSky surveys all summer long and can sign up HERE. Fans who sign up will also get the first chance to purchase early bird tickets this Fall.

Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center and Valkyrie Theatre Company will present a summer musical theatre workshop production of Disney's High School Musical On Stage! this July and August, marking the first outdoor play/musical staged in the venue's newly opened Amphitheatre.

Following a successful opening season of outdoor concerts, the Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center Amphitheatre will welcome its first theatrical production with Disney's High School Musical On Stage!, performed by middle and high school students as part of a fast-paced summer musical theatre workshop.

The workshop runs July 13-31, with public performances scheduled July 31-August 9 at the Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center Amphitheatre.

Presented in accordance with Music Theatre International, Disney's High School Musical On Stage! brings the beloved East High story to life, following Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, and their classmates as they navigate friendships, cliques, auditions, basketball, academics, and the pressure to "stick to the status quo."

The summer workshop is designed for middle and high school students and gives young performers the opportunity to build skills in acting, singing, dance, ensemble work, and live performance. Students will rehearse and perform the full musical in a professional-style outdoor setting, gaining hands-on experience in the energy and discipline of musical theatre.

"We are excited that High School Musical will be the first outdoor theatre production in the new Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center Amphitheatre," said Alison Gilbreath of Valkyrie Theatre Company. "The venue has already come alive through concerts, and now students will have the chance to bring a full musical to that space. It is a wonderful opportunity for young performers and for the Fair Oaks community."

Disney's High School Musical On Stage! is known for its high-energy songs, large ensemble numbers, and themes of confidence, friendship, and discovering who you are beyond the labels people place on you. For young performers, the show offers a fun and accessible way to experience the excitement of musical theatre while working as part of a company.

Review: ESPEJOS: CLEAN at Capital Stage

Capital Stage once again demonstrates its dedication to producing works that illuminate the intricacies of human relationships. Christine Quintana’s Espejos: Clean is a powerful production that explores assumptions and identity through storytelling in both English and Spanish. Director Dena Martinez relies on the strength of the script, capturing the characters' authentic experiences of tension, misunderstanding, and the stark contrast between privilege and need.

The play is set in a luxury resort in Mexico, using its opulent surroundings to reinforce themes of inequality and assumptions. The two characters, Adriana (Sarita Ocón) and Sarah (Stephanie Altholz), are a study in the dichotomy of haves and have-nots: one, a hotel housekeeping manager; the other, a comfortable Canadian tourist. At first glance, that’s exactly how they seem. Adriana’s options were limited as she escaped an abusive environment. A job in glamorous Cancun, surrounded by wealth, seemed perfect for her younger, idealistic self. Now that she has experience behind her and the glitz of the pristine property has worn off, she feels even more invisible to everyone who passes through her rooms. That is, until Sarah arrives at the resort for her sister’s destination wedding. As the title suggests, they are more alike than they appear. As they begin to peel back layers and expose vulnerabilities, it’s as if they’re looking into espejos (mirrors) despite their different circumstances.

Ocón delivers her monologues almost entirely in Spanish, segueing to English periodically in scenes that emphasize the frustration and disparity between her two worlds. She cuts a mature figure that has been shaped by hardship and resilience. Altholz is always compelling, and her turn as Sarah is no exception. Their performances feel authentic, showing the complexities of people trying to navigate trauma and self-reflection. What makes the experience especially compelling is how they reveal the contradiction within their characters. Every interaction is rife with intention, and nothing feels out of place. A surprising treat is the humor peppered throughout the seriousness, particularly in the second act.

Espejos: Clean continues to show Capital Stage’s commitment to thoughtful artistic presence. Their work is consistently rewarding and enriching, and this show stands as another testament to excellence. It gleams with creativity and insight: another one not to be missed.

SONIC LIVE IN CONCERT to Launch Global Tour With US and UK Premieres

As Sonic the Hedgehog celebrates 35 years as one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time, Senbla and SEGA today announced Sonic Live In Concert (www.sonicliveinconcert.com). This new concert experience brings the music and moments of the beloved video games to the stage.

Featuring iconic moments and music from the very first game in 1991 through today, the production will debut in the U.S. at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on September 26, 2026, before making its European premiere at London's Eventim Apollo on September 30. The U.S. tour will visit more than 30 cities nationwide, and a UK tour will follow in February 2027. More European dates will be announced at a later time. Winner of the 2026 Bay Area Theater Critics Circle Award for Solo Performance, the production is written and performed by Hoyle and directed by Aldo Billingslea. Developed with Charlie Varon and Michael Moran, the 75-minute solo work draws from interviews and reporting conducted across the United States to explore contemporary American civic life.

The production follows a range of individuals navigating political and cultural divisions, including a Florida school-board activist, voting-rights canvassers in Atlanta, a former gang member working to counter extremism in Missouri, and residents sharing stories in Las Vegas barbershops. Through a combination of storytelling, character work, and documentary-style performance, Hoyle portrays people confronting questions of democracy, identity, and social change.

Hoyle’s previous solo productions have been presented Off-Broadway at The Public Theater and Culture Project, as well as at theaters including Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and Portland Center Stage. His work has also toured internationally in Ireland, India, Wales, Mexico, Canada, and Nigeria.

Director Aldo Billingslea is a professor of theater at Santa Clara University, where he teaches acting. He also serves as Theatre Program Director for The222.org in Healdsburg, California.

Broadway At Music Circus has announced the cast for its upcoming production of DISNEY'S FROZEN, which will run at the UC Davis Health Pavilion in Sacramento as part of the 2026 season.

Based on the Oscar-winning animated film, the stage musical features songs from the original film including “Let It Go,” “For the First Time in Forever,” and “Love Is an Open Door,” along with additional music written for the Broadway adaptation. The production will run June 19–28.

Lauren Nicole Chapman will star as Anna. Her previous credits include Legally Blonde at Broadway At Music Circus, as well as Broadway and touring productions of Disney's Frozen and Kinky Boots. Teal Wicks will play Elsa. THE NOTEBOOK North American Tour Adds 26 Cities to 2026-27 Route

The North American Tour of THE NOTEBOOK hasannounced engagements for the 2026-27 season, adding 26 cites to the previously announced route, including stops in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, and Houston. The tour began performances on September 6, 2025, at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio, and has welcomed over 500,000 patrons to date.

Allie and Noah, two people from different worlds, share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart in a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love. Based on the book that has sold millions of copies worldwide and a film that is one of the highest-grossing romantic dramas of all-time, the musical adaptation of THE NOTEBOOK played Broadway at the Schoenfeld Theatre from March 2024 to December 2024 following a critically acclaimed world premiere engagement at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in the fall of 2022.

THE NOTEBOOK features music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter (writer and producer on NBC's “This Is Us,” The Cake). The production is directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, RENT) and Schele Williams (Aida, The Wiz), with choreography by Katie Spelman (Associate Choreographer on Moulin Rouge! The Musical).

The creative team for the tour includes scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Mia Neal, and projection design by Lucy Mackinnon. The production's music supervisor is Carmel Dean, who also collaborated on arrangements with Ingrid Michaelson and on orchestrations with John Clancy, and the music director is Tina Faye. The Harris Center for the Arts invites the community to experience The Crystal Affair, a dazzling anniversary concert and celebration marking 15 extraordinary years of bringing world-class performing arts to the Sacramento region. This evening of music, glamour, and community spirit takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The festivities begin at 5:30 pm with a lively pre-concert sip-and-stroll party in the Harris Center lobby, featuring sparkling conversation, celebratory toasts, curated food from the restaurants of the Palladio, award-winning wineries and an elegant atmosphere. The celebration continues at 7:30 pm as the acclaimed Folsom Lake Symphony takes the stage for a spectacular concert performance of iconic film scores by John Williams honoring the Harris Center's legacy and bright future.

The concert carries special significance: the Folsom Lake Symphony was the very first ensemble to take the stage when the Harris Center opened its doors 15 years ago. Their return for this milestone anniversary closes a remarkable circle and launches the next chapter.

"The arts belong to this community – they always have,” said Center Manager Amber Shaver. “The Crystal Affair is our way of honoring 15 years of shared moments, standing ovations, and the belief that great art makes life richer for everyone. We can't wait to celebrate together."

Review: BACK TO THE FUTURE at Broadway Sacramento

Great Scott! Our 1985 memories have zoomed into town on the back of the much-anticipated tour of Back to the Future: The Musical. Based on the hit motion picture, the bones are the same: small-town dreamer Marty McFly is accidentally sent back in time by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown, where one wrong move could erase his future forever. The National Tour brings the nostalgia, packed with energy and jaw-dropping spectacle, to Broadway Sacramento for a limited time.

For fans of the film, the references are spot-on: the clock tower, the school dance, the awkward dinner table scenes, and, of course, the irresistible charm of Marty and Doc. The audience around me buzzed with excitement from start to finish. What really sends this production into another dimension are the effects. The DeLorean is the star attraction, and deservedly so. Between the lighting, projections, sound, and pure theatrical wizardry, the car genuinely seems to bend space and time on stage.

The cast throws themselves into the material with contagious energy, balancing the heart, humor, and absurdity beautifully. The show knows exactly what it is: big, loud, sentimental fun. It embraces the nostalgia factor and delivers what feels like revisiting a favorite memory. It has the feel of a jukebox musical that needs a tad more jukebox, but I loved "For the Dreamers," which was performed brilliantly by David Josefsberg, and the bully anthem "Teach Him a Lesson." There are also familiar tunes from the movie that everyone will recognize.

Lucas Hallauer is a Michael J. Fox lookalike Marty McFly, and delivers teen disgust and confidence like a pro. Doc Brown is hilariously played by David Josefsberg. He’s laugh-out-loud funny and disarmingly likable. Like the movie itself, it’s funny, sweet, a little chaotic, and entertaining. Whether you grew up with Marty McFly or you’re introducing someone new to Hill Valley, this production delivers an unforgettable ride.

World Premiere Comedy WORKING FOR CRUMBS is Coming to B Street Theatre

A disastrous cookie order, a terrifying boss, and one very dead executive send two office assistants into full panic mode in Working For Crumbs, the world premiere comedy by Kate Danley and the 2025 winner of B Street Theatre's New Comedies Festival, where new works are selected from submissions across the country. Amy and Grace are overworked assistants trying to survive another day in a toxic corporate office ruled by Helen, a self-important executive obsessed with status, control, and white chocolate macadamia cookies. But after an oatmeal raisin disaster turns deadly, the pair find themselves scrambling to hide evidence, dodge suspicious coworkers, survive office politics, and somehow keep their jobs.

Working For Crumbs turns workplace burnout into comic catastrophe. Packed with rapid-fire dialogue, physical comedy, passive-aggressive coworkers, malfunctioning office culture, and mounting panic, the play asks one terrifying question: how far would you go to avoid getting fired?

Edgar Allan Poe continues to captivate readers, close to two centuries after his death. His imagination spawned Gothic horror and helped shape the modern psychological thriller through his exploration of madness, guilt, and the dark recesses of the human mind. His famous short story, “The Masque of the Red Death,” receives a vivid new life in a new audiobook adaptation featuring dialogue by Jason Markiewitz. Enlisting the vocal talents of local Sacramento actors, Markiewitz expands on Poe’s original story, developing the characters’ personalities and adding emotional tension to Prince Prospero’s doomed celebration. The additional dialogue and character interactions help transform the story into a more dramatic and emotionally engaging experience, while still preserving the eerie tone that makes Poe’s work so memorable.

The plot follows Prince Prospero, a wealthy nobleman who attempts to escape a deadly plague known as the Red Death by sealing himself and his guests inside an abbey. Prospero hosts an extravagant masquerade ball filled with music, dancing, and elaborate costumes. He believes that his wealth and privilege will keep him safe. As the celebration moves through a series of differently colored rooms, tension builds until a mysterious masked figure appears, dressed as a victim of the Red Death itself. The arrival of this silent stranger transforms the night from one of arrogant indulgence into one of terror, forcing Prospero and his guests to confront the reality that death cannot be escaped. The adaptation captures this progression beautifully, gradually intensifying the suspense until the story reaches its chilling conclusion.

The voice cast plays a major role in bringing the story to life, with each actor giving their character a distinct personality and emotional presence. Brennan Villados plays Prince Prospero and captures both the prince’s arrogance and his growing fear. Supporting performers help create a believable sense of panic and unease as the drama unfolds. Their reactions and exchanges add humanity to the story, which makes the inevitable tragedy feel even more disturbing.

The narration and performances work together seamlessly, making even the quieter moments feel unsettling. The pacing allows suspense to build naturally, while the dialogue adds weight to the story’s themes of denial, excess, and mortality. Combined with eerie sound design and haunting music, the audiobook creates an immersive experience that stays faithful to Poe’s original work. This adaptation enhances the original message, drawing listeners deeper into its Gothic atmosphere and reinforcing the timeless message about the inevitability of death and the futility of trying to escape it.

StageMag Launches Programmable PDF Editor for Digital Theater Programs

StageMag, the digital show program platform from BroadwayWorld, today launched its new PDF Editor to all producers and stage managers using the service. The tool gives editors granular, real-time control over how their digital program renders as a downloadable or printable PDF - the format most often used in lobby printouts, accessibility packets, and press kits.

Until now, the StageMag-to-PDF path was a one-shot export: whatever fit, fit. The new editor turns the export into a configurable surface. Each section of a program including the cast list, song list, director's note, bios, advertisements, sponsor pages, articles, listings and more — can be individually told how to paginate. Editors choose between three strategies per section:

Flow: natural pagination, sections may split across pages.
Own page: start the section on a fresh page.
Fit one page: start fresh and scale the section to occupy the whole page.

A live preview pane re-renders the PDF on every change, so editors see the final printed result as they work rather than guessing and re-exporting.Beyond the strategy picker, the editor exposes a set of advanced controls familiar to anyone who has hand-tuned a long-form print document: hide-element selectors (drop sponsor strips or vestigial nav from the print version), forced page breaks before or after named elements, a draggable section-order list, custom header/footer/watermark text, and a custom-CSS escape hatch for theaters whose programs follow a house style.

The release also includes paper-level controls including US Letter or A4, portrait or landscape, three margin presets, three type scales, and a "booklet" mode that adds a binding gutter for stapled lobby printouts.

The PDF Editor is available now to all StageMag-enabled productions at no additional cost, under the Share PDF tab in the program editor. Existing programs render with sensible defaults; the new controls are opt-in and per-production.

No Curtain Productions to Premiere PRESSURE POINTS Double Bill in Penryn

No Curtain Productions will present PRESSURE POINTS, a world premiere double bill written and directed by Brian King, from June 12–14 at Mandarin Hollow Theatre in Penryn, California.

The production includes two original plays, Hellevator and Hammer. According to the announcement, Hellevator is a dark comedy centered on two strangers trapped inside a malfunctioning Art Deco elevator following a practical joke gone wrong. The second play, Hammer, takes place in the locker room of a California State Arm-Wrestling Championship and follows an athlete confronting personal questions of identity while preparing for competition.

The cast includes world champion arm wrestler Sontino Bravo alongside Jessica Martinelli, Michael Coleman, and Caleb Purciel. Micki King serves as stage manager, with graphics by Juice Creative Studios.

Artistic Director Brian King said in a statement, “We're aiming for that rare sweet spot where the theater feels as alive as the people sitting in it, sharing the same Penryn night air.”

Performances are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on June 12 and June 13, with a 6:00 p.m. performance on June 14.

The production will take place outdoors at Mandarin Hollow Theatre, located at 2225 Highland Way in Penryn. Admission is by donation, with a suggested contribution of $20 available at the door or via Venmo.
