It is absolutely ravishing, and Seattle audiences are lining up hours early to witness the spectacle for themselves.

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is excited to announce that individual tickets for the 2026-27 Boldt Arts Alive! and Menasha Corporation Spotlight Series will go on sale to the public on Friday, June 12, at 10 a.m.

Following a much-anticipated 2026-27 Season announcement in March, patrons can now secure their seats for individual titles during a season of world-class performances ranging from international music and contemporary dance to intimate theatrical experiences and culinary storytelling.

The 2026-27 Boldt Arts Alive! Series officially launches on September 29, 2026, with The Carpenters Songbook: A Live Celebration. Additional highlights of the series include Ballet Hispánico's CARMEN.maquia, Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol, and the high-energy 360 ALLSTARS Urban Circus.

The Menasha Corporation Spotlight Series, known for its engaging and intimate atmosphere in the Kimberly-Clark Theater, will feature compelling performances such as The Accidental Hero, an evening with five-time James Beard finalist Chef Dan Jacobs, and the Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble.

BroadwayWorld Launches Producer Fantasy Game

Ever watched the weekly Broadway grosses roll in and thought you could pick the winners? Now you can put it to the test. BroadwayWorld has launched the Producer Fantasy Game, a free, season-long competition that lets theatre fans build a roster of Broadway shows and earn points based on how those productions actually perform at the box office. The draft window is open now.

How It Works

The setup is simple. During the draft window, you pick any six Broadway productions that opened this season. Drafting is non-exclusive, so there is no need to race a rival for a hot title. Any number of players can roster the same show.

From there, your shows go to work for you. Every week, each production on your roster earns fantasy points based on its reported box office grosses and capacity percentages. When Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations and wins are announced, your shows bank bonus points on top of that. And each week you can answer our Fantasy Forecast prediction questions for up to five bonus points per correct call.

Weekly Scoring

Each week, a show earns one base point for every $50,000 it grosses, so a $1 million week is worth 20 base points. On top of that, shows can earn bonuses: up to five points for filling seats (based on how close to full capacity the house ran), six points for grossing $2 million or more (or three points for grossing between $1 million and $2 million), and eight points if its gross jumped at least 15 percent from the week before. A show loses four points if its gross dropped at least 15 percent. If a show goes dark and reports no gross for a week, it scores zero for that week with no penalty.

The Fantasy Forecast

The Producer Fantasy Game is really two games in one. The first is the box office game: drafting shows and earning points from their weekly grosses and awards. The second is the Fantasy Forecast, a weekly set of prediction questions about what's happening on Broadway, where each correct answer is worth up to five points. You can play one or both.

We track them separately so you can shine at either. Your Producer score covers the box office game, your Forecast score covers your prediction results, and your Combined score adds the two together for the overall championship ranking. The leaderboard lets you toggle between Overall, Producers, and Forecasters, so a sharp predictor can top the Forecasters board even during a rough season for their roster, and a roster powerhouse can lead the Producers board without answering a single question.

Managing Your Roster

Your lineup stays at six shows all season, and you have plenty of room to maneuver. You get one free drop every week, three additional season drops to use anytime before the trade deadline, and free replacements whenever a show on your roster closes. New productions open throughout the season and become available the moment they start reporting grosses, so it pays to keep a transaction in your pocket for that buzzy new opening.

Review: & JULIET at Fox Cities Performing Arts Center

& Juliet offers a contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, asking what might happen if Juliet chose a different path after Romeo’s death. Written by comedy genius David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), the musical blends Shakespearean characters with modern tastes and twists, exploring themes of self-discovery, independence, and second chances. The foundation of the production is laid on the catalog of songwriter and producer Max Martin, featuring well-known hits made famous by artists including Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, and P!nk. Unlike many traditional jukebox musicals, several of the selected songs are carefully and cleverly woven into the narrative, advancing both character and story.

The touring production recreates the colorful visual style and high-energy staging that helped make the show a Broadway success. While its contemporary humor and pop soundtrack may not appeal to every theatergoer, & Juliet presents a fresh take on a familiar story and offers a distinctly modern perspective on one of literature’s most famous heroines.

Fabiola Caraballo Quijada, fresh off her win at the 2025 Jimmy Awards, makes her professional debut in the role of Juliet. A talented young actress, she brings a youthfulness and vibrancy to a role that requires it. Caraballo Quijada shines vocally, showing off a rich sound that is both precise and balanced. It will be exciting to see where her career takes her next, and how more experience allows her to refine her craft and take on roles with greater depth and nuance. She may be small in stature, but there is nothing small about her impact on the stage.

Crystal Kellogg in the role of Anne, is the queenpin of this production. From start to finish, Kellogg brings consistency and perfectly timed humor. The role of Anne is one that holds a massive responsibility in this book, and Kellogg was masterful in her approach. Previous roles have prepared her well for this opportunity both on the Broadway stage and in touring productions. She is able to navigate a uniquely blended role which serves as a participant, a narrator, and a writer of the story with believability and confidence. Her performance was the heart of the production in every way.

In the role of François, Noah Marlowe strikes just the right balance between awkwardness and sincerity. What could easily become a one-note comic character instead emerges as one of the production's most genuine presences. His social missteps and uncertainty are played with authenticity rather than exaggeration, making François both relatable and endearing. His performance allows the audience to laugh with the character rather than at him, and that honesty helps ground some of the show's more over-the-top moments.

“I’m Not a Girl”, performed by Jourdan Ibe in the role of May, lands as one of the more grounded moments in the production, offering a brief pause from the show’s constant and frantic momentum. Stripped of excess staging, the song’s emotional core comes through clearly, leaning into a sense of transition and self-definition rather than spectacle. What makes the number effective is its restraint; it doesn’t try to over-explain or amplify the feeling, and that simplicity allows the lyric to do most of the work. In a show that often favors big comedic turns and pop-driven energy, this moment stands out for its quiet honesty, even if it is relatively short-lived before the production moves on.

The book provides plenty of opportunities for clever Shakespearean humor, particularly in the exchanges involving Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway, and those moments often rank among the show's most effective. However, the script occasionally leaves one wishing for greater depth beneath its clever exterior. While the musical is eager to engage with contemporary social themes, those ideas take precedence over the development of the central relationships that give Shakespeare's original work its emotional weight. As a result, certain character arcs can feel more representative of larger messages than fully realized personal journeys. The show is well-intentioned throughout, but there are moments where a greater sense of nuance and emotional gravity can strengthen its impact.

The choreography keeps the show moving with consistent energy and a strong sense of pace, clearly designed for broad accessibility and momentum. At the same time, it doesn’t always land with the level of precision or polish that more dance-forward productions achieve, which can make some sequences feel a bit underwhelming in their execution. The sound design, however, is a standout element of the production. Clean, powerful, and exceptionally well-balanced throughout, it does a lot of heavy lifting in shaping the overall theatrical experience and giving the show its professional sheen. Vocally, the production sits in a deliberately blended space between pop performance and musical theatre technique, which is conceptually fitting for the material. This blend, however, is inconsistent and results in moments where the show flips between styles instead of achieving the blend that it seems to actually desire.

Taken as a whole, & Juliet is a lively, crowd-pleasing evening of theatre that knows exactly how to entertain an audience in the moment. Its score, comedic wit, and high-energy staging make it an easy recommendation for viewers looking for something modern, fast-moving, and familiar. There are, however, areas where the production prioritizes momentum and concept over refinement and depth, which may explain why it does not necessarily resonate with all theatregoers. Even so, it remains a worthwhile production; one that succeeds most in its ability to keep audiences engaged and leave them revisiting beloved songs they already know in a creatively new light.

& Juliet will be at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center through Sunday, June 5, 2026 before continuing on to Milwaukee and then Indianapolis.

A DRAG QUEEN CHRISTMAS to Return for 12th Year With 39-City National Tour

“A Drag Queen Christmas” will return for its 12th year, launching a 39-city national tour this November - December. The 2026 edition is hosted by returning fan favorite and theatre star Nina West, and features an all-new merry lineup of drag superstars from the Emmy-winning RuPaul's Drag Race franchise.

SONIC LIVE IN CONCERT to Launch Global Tour With US and UK Premieres

As Sonic the Hedgehog celebrates 35 years as one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time, Senbla and SEGA today announced Sonic Live In Concert (www.sonicliveinconcert.com). This new concert experience brings the music and moments of the beloved video games to the stage.

Featuring iconic moments and music from the very first game in 1991 through today, the production will debut in the U.S. at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on September 26, 2026, before making its European premiere at London's Eventim Apollo on September 30. The U.S. tour will visit more than 30 cities nationwide, and a UK tour will follow in February 2027. More European dates will be announced at a later time. Tickets will go on sale May 29, 2026, with pre-sale tickets going on sale on May 28, 2026.

As part of a global rollout celebrating the franchise's milestone anniversary, Sonic Live In Concert features the most recognizable music from the Sonic universe, performed by a live ensemble alongside rock musicians, vocalists, and electronic elements. The setlist includes fan-favorite tracks and an incredible array of music from the very first game through to today accompanied by synchronized HD footage of iconic levels, moments and boss battles from the franchise. Audiences can expect musical Easter eggs woven into the arrangements, adding an extra layer of discovery that brings Sonic's world vividly to life on stage.

The concert also highlights the creative legacy behind Sonic's music from legendary composers Jun Senoue and Tomoya Ohtani, whose work has helped define Sonic's sound across generations.

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center has announced that the hit a cappella group Straight No Chaser will return with NiteLite Presents Straight No Chaser on Sunday, November 29, 2026.

For the group, the holidays and the annual fall tour are shared experiences with their fans (affectionately known as “Chasers”), acknowledging tried-and-true traditions while simultaneously introducing the excitement of novelty. Their road to success, after all, can be attributed to the success of one of their holiday songs.

Straight No Chaser was originally formed at Indiana University in the mid-'90s. The group reunited and gained new momentum in 2006 when an original member uploaded their 1998 performance of “The 12 Days of Christmas” to YouTube to share some college nostalgia with friends. What happened next was a level of success that few people could have predicted, least of all, the nine members of Straight No Chaser.

For the next decade, audiences watched as the group put a cappella on the map–bursting on the scene before pop culture phenoms like “The Sing Off” and “Pitch Perfect.” They were signed to Atlantic Records, developed a robust fan base through touring, and sold out venues. Their star is constantly on the rise, as Straight No Chaser continues to achieve new milestones with every tour run, EP and album release and TV performance.

Year after year, the group aims to keep fans entertained and inspired. There are no cookie-cutter shows here; each concert serves up a healthy dose of banter between the band members, flawless harmonies, and a blend of old and new music. THE NOTEBOOK North American Tour Adds 26 Cities to 2026-27 Route

The North American Tour of THE NOTEBOOK hasannounced engagements for the 2026-27 season, adding 26 cites to the previously announced route, including stops in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, and Houston. The tour began performances on September 6, 2025, at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio, and has welcomed over 500,000 patrons to date.

Allie and Noah, two people from different worlds, share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart in a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love. Based on the book that has sold millions of copies worldwide and a film that is one of the highest-grossing romantic dramas of all-time, the musical adaptation of THE NOTEBOOK played Broadway at the Schoenfeld Theatre from March 2024 to December 2024 following a critically acclaimed world premiere engagement at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in the fall of 2022.

THE NOTEBOOK features music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter (writer and producer on NBC's “This Is Us,” The Cake). The production is directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, RENT) and Schele Williams (Aida, The Wiz), with choreography by Katie Spelman (Associate Choreographer on Moulin Rouge! The Musical).

The creative team for the tour includes scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Mia Neal, and projection design by Lucy Mackinnon. The production's music supervisor is Carmel Dean, who also collaborated on arrangements with Ingrid Michaelson and on orchestrations with John Clancy, and the music director is Tina Faye. Fox Cities PAC Announces 2026 Center Stage Program Honorees

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center has announced the 2026 representatives of the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program: Amara Kennedy of Sheboygan Falls and Antonio Thompson of Oshkosh North.

These nominees were first announced live at the 10th Annual Center Stage Showcase on Saturday, May 16, and will now head to New York City to represent our region at the prestigious Jimmy Awards®/National High School Musical Theatre Awards® from June 12-23, joining an elite cohort of students from 58 regional programs across the country.

This year’s representatives emerged from a vibrant season of local talent, with more than 2,200 students from 34 participating high schools across the region pouring their hearts into the 2025-26 Center Stage Program.

Amara and Antonio were nominated based on their leading performances in their high school productions, and then chosen through a separate audition to represent the Center Stage Program at the national level. Their New York experience will include intensive workshops with industry titans and the life-changing opportunity to compete for scholarships, culminating in a performance on the legendary Minskoff Theatre stage – the current Broadway home of Disney’s The Lion King – where they will showcase their talents in the heart of the Theater District.

Amara, a senior at Sheboygan Falls, was nominated for her performance in the role of Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act.

Antonio, a senior at Oshkosh North, was nominated for her performance in the role of Hermes in Hadestown: Teen Edition.

The 10th Annual Center Stage Showcase also lent a spotlight to the mentors who make these milestones possible with the presentation of Influential Theater Educator recognition. This honor celebrates a teacher whose tireless commitment and mentorship have left an indelible mark on their students and the broader theater community, highlighting the vital role educators play in fostering the next generation of storytellers. The 2025 Influential Theater Educator selected for recognition is Andrew Mildebrandt, director at Winnebago Lutheran Academy.

ABOUT THE 2025-26 CENTER STAGE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM

Throughout the 2025-26 school year, 34 area high schools participated in the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program, an education initiative that celebrates and supports the achievements of high school theater programs in Northeastern Wisconsin.

During the program year, participating students had the opportunity to attend workshops with professional artists, to ask questions and explore different aspects of theater, giving them a deeper understanding of the live performing arts industry, focusing on a variety of skills including dancing, acting, technical theater and hair and makeup.

Until now, the StageMag-to-PDF path was a one-shot export: whatever fit, fit. The new editor turns the export into a configurable surface. Each section of a program including the cast list, song list, director's note, bios, advertisements, sponsor pages, articles, listings and more — can be individually told how to paginate. Editors choose between three strategies per section:

Flow: natural pagination, sections may split across pages.
Own page: start the section on a fresh page.
Fit one page: start fresh and scale the section to occupy the whole page.

A live preview pane re-renders the PDF on every change, so editors see the final printed result as they work rather than guessing and re-exporting.Beyond the strategy picker, the editor exposes a set of advanced controls familiar to anyone who has hand-tuned a long-form print document: hide-element selectors (drop sponsor strips or vestigial nav from the print version), forced page breaks before or after named elements, a draggable section-order list, custom header/footer/watermark text, and a custom-CSS escape hatch for theaters whose programs follow a house style.

The release also includes paper-level controls including US Letter or A4, portrait or landscape, three margin presets, three type scales, and a "booklet" mode that adds a binding gutter for stapled lobby printouts.

The PDF Editor is available now to all StageMag-enabled productions at no additional cost, under the Share PDF tab in the program editor. Existing programs render with sensible defaults; the new controls are opt-in and per-production.

The Brown County Civic Music Association and The Weidner have announced the 2026-2027 Virtuosi Live! Series in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The season will feature Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis during Marsalis’ final season as artistic director and music director of the ensemble. Additional performances will include Daniel Ho, the Pro Arte Quartet, and the Weidner Philharmonic.

The Weidner and the Brown County Civic Music Association (BCCMA) have announced the lineup for the 2026-2027 Virtuosi Live! Series, celebrating the organization’s 100th anniversary season.

Daniel Ho

Hawaiian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Daniel Ho will perform two concerts on October 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Ho is known for his work as a ukulele virtuoso, slack key guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, and vocalist, performing original music in both English and Hawaiian.

WHY YOU LIKE IT: Decoding Musical Taste – Live Experience with Dr. Nolan Gasser

Composer, musicologist, and Music Genome Project architect Dr. Nolan Gasser will present an immersive concert-lecture experience on November 13, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

Inspired by the PBS special of the same name, the event combines live performance, storytelling, and discussions of neuroscience, psychology, and culture to explore the origins of musical taste and emotional responses to music.

Pro Arte Quartet

The Pro Arte Quartet will perform on March 4, 2027 with performances at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Founded in Brussels in 1912, the ensemble became one of Europe’s leading string quartets during the 20th century and has been in residence at the University of Wisconsin for more than 75 years. In 2012, the quartet marked its centennial anniversary.

Weidner Philharmonic: Sound & Seek

The Weidner Philharmonic will present Sound & Seek on May 1, 2027 at 7:00 p.m.

The orchestra performs under the artistic direction of Michelle McQuade Dewhirst and is conducted by UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander. The program will include Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question alongside additional repertoire centered on themes of exploration and discovery.

Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will perform on April 22, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.

The internationally touring ensemble features 15 jazz soloists and ensemble musicians and presents performances, educational programs, and broadcasts throughout the world each season. The Green Bay engagement will take place during Marsalis’ final season leading the organization.

OPERATION MINCEMEAT has announced the full 2026/27 season dates for the North American leg of its world tour. The news comes as OPERATION MINCEMEAT celebrates its 500th performance on Broadway this Saturday, May 2, after hitting 2,000 performances worldwide - now playing simultaneously in the West End, on Broadway, and on tour across the UK. Following the North American leg, further stops on its international journey will include Australia, China, Mexico, and New Zealand.

About Operation Mincemeat

In OPERATION MINCEMEAT: A NEW MUSICAL, it's 1943, and the Allied Forces are on the ropes. Luckily, they've got a trick up their sleeve. Well, not up their sleeve, per se, but rather inside the pocket of a stolen corpse. Equal parts farce, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style spy caper (with an assist from Mr. Fleming himself), OPERATION MINCEMEAT tells the wildly improbable and hilarious true story of the covert operation that turned the tide of WWII.

Written by triple Tony Award nominees SpitLip (comprised of David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson, and Zoë Roberts), OPERATION MINCEMEAT began performances on Broadway on February 15, 2025, and continues to play at the historic Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), where it has been extended eight times and will soon celebrate its 500th performance. RAGTIME Will Launch National Tour in Fall 2027

Lincoln Center Theater’s Broadway revival of Ragtime, directed by Kewsong Lee Artistic Director Lear deBessonet, announced today that it will launch a North American Tour in the fall of 2027. The tour will premiere at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York, before continuing onto cities across the U.S. and Canada. Additional tour stops and casting will be announced at a later date.

Lincoln Center Theater’s limited engagement of Ragtime has been extended twice by popular demand with performances now through August 2, 2026. The production set a new box office record at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and was recently nominated foreight Drama Desk Awards, six Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet), as well as five Drama League Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical and Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet).

“Ragtime is one of the most ambitious musicals ever written, and it feels timelier than ever,” said producers Tom Kirdahy, Kevin Ryan, Robert Greenblatt, and Lamar Richardson in a statement. “What Lear deBessonet and this extraordinary company have created at Lincoln Center Theater is both epic in scale and deeply human. The North American Tour of Oh, Mary! has announced the dates and cities for its 2026-27 season. The tour of the Tony Award and Olivier Award-winning comedy will tech and launch at The Bushnell in Hartford, Connecticut, with performances beginning September 19, 2026. Written by Tony Award and Olivier Award winner Cole Escola and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway on July 11, 2024, and continues to play at the Lyceum Theatre, where it became the first show in the theatre’s 121-year history to gross more than $1,000,000 in a single week. Oh, Mary! has since broken its own box office record twelve times and became the first show of the 2024-25 Broadway season to recoup its investment. Oh, Mary! opened to rave reviews in London’s West End on December 18, 2025.

Oh, Mary! is a dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola).

PSYCHICS VS. SCIENCE Will Embark on Tour Across The U.S.

Fact, fraud, or phenomenon? A psychic and a scientist share the same stage to put those questions to the test in Psychics vs. Science (www.psychicsvscience.com), a high-energy, interactive live event touring 15 U.S. cities in June. Launching June 9 in Houston, the production features "America's Greatest Mind Reader" and world record holder Joe Diamond (The Mind Reader) battling cognitive scientist and Carthage College professor Dr. Anthony Barnhart (The Professor) for an unpredictable night that challenges what audiences think they know about the human mind.

Each performance unfolds as a live back-and-forth between intuition and analysis. Audiences witness demonstrations of mind reading, prediction, and perception followed by real-time scientific insight into attention, memory, bias, and belief. There is no barrier between performer and audience. Every moment happens live with audience members at the center of the experience since Psychics vs. Science is built around participation, spontaneity, and unscripted moments. No two performances are ever the same.

"This isn't church. You don't have to believe a single word I say. Personally, I do believe we're all a little psychic, but that doesn't matter. What matters is what you experience in the moment during this live show," says Diamond.

Dr. Barnhart brings a scientific lens to those moments, offering insight into how audiences perceive what they experience in real time.

"What makes this show so compelling is that it lives right at the intersection of perception and explanation," says Dr. Barnhart. Following a special event celebrating our region's educators, the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is proud to reveal the 2026-27 Amcor Education Series. This announcement comes on the heels of a historic season in which the Center officially welcomed its 500,000th student attendee to the Amcor Education Series since opening its doors in 2002, marking a monumental achievement in Northeast Wisconsin's commitment to arts-integrated learning.

The Amcor Education Series is designed specifically for students in grades PreK through 12 attending from public and private schools, state-registered homeschools and state-licensed family or group childcare centers. The series serves as an extension of the classroom, transforming the theater into a dynamic learning space where literature, history, and science leap off the page and onto the stage. By connecting curriculum to live performance, the Center provides students with a multisensory experience that fosters empathy, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

NEWSIES Unseats LES MISÉRABLES to Win BroadwayWorld's 2026 Ultimate Movie Musical Bracket

After six weeks of voting, BroadwayWorld readers have crowned Newsies the Ultimate Best Movie Musical in the 2026 edition of BroadwayWorld's Annual Bracket. The 1992 Disney film, directed by Kenny Ortega and featuring music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, defeated Les Misérables in the final round, ending the Tom Hooper-directed film's two-year winning streak.

In both 2024 and 2025, Les Misérables was voted as the Ultimate Best Musical of all time, making it the title to beat heading into this year's competition. Newsies, a perennial fan favorite that developed a devoted following after its theatrical release and has since been adapted for the Broadway stage, advanced through six rounds of head-to-head matchups before claiming the title.

Now in its third year, BroadwayWorld's Bracket invites readers to debate, defend, and ultimately crown the greatest movie musical of all time from a field selected by BroadwayWorld editors. Review: THE GREAT GATSBY: NATIONAL TOUR at Fox Cities Performing Arts Center

A cornerstone of American literature by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, has been brought to life in a way never seen before. Long regarded as a challenging work to adapt due to its introspective nature and nuance, this production leans confidently into spectacle, movement, and music to express the internal longing that defines the novel. At the heart of the production is its design. The definitive opulence of the Jazz Age bursts onto the stage through lavish sets and fluid transitions that evoke Gatsby’s extravagant parties without ever feeling static. Art Deco-inspired visuals, paired with sharp and kinetic choreography, give the show a cinematic tone. Costuming is equally striking, with flapper dresses shimmering, and sharply tailored suits reinforcing the rigid social structures the story quietly critiques.

What makes this adaptation particularly compelling is how it handles narration. Rather than relying heavily on a single observer figure, the production distributes perspective through ensemble storytelling, allowing characters like Gatsby and Daisy to step out of the haze of Nick’s recollection and into fully realized emotional arcs. Gatsby’s yearning is no longer just described, it’s embodied. Daisy, often interpreted as distant or elusive, is given added dimensionality through motifs that reflect both her charm and her entrapment.

Joshua Grosso as Nick Carraway doesn’t simply narrate the story, he elevates it. Delivering one of the most dynamic performances of the season, Grosso offers effortless charm and precision. Guiding the audience with clarity and charisma, he balances sharp physical humor with a grounded emotional presence that keeps the storytelling both engaging and authentic. His movement is fluid and intentional, while his vocals are smooth and controlled, carrying a richness that draws you in from the first note. Jazzy, charming, and undeniably polished, his performance is like a glass of fine whiskey; refined, warm, and lingering long after the final moment.

Jay Gatsby, played by Jake David Smith brings to the stage the most captivating male vocal heard at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center since his previous appearance as Marius in Les Misérables, reminding audiences exactly why he stands among the finest leading tenors currently touring. He embodies Gatsby with a balance of magnetism and vulnerability, bringing a vibrant, deeply lovable quality to a character often shrouded in mystery. His performance of “For Her” is a standout moment, rivaling the very best with distinctive vocal runs ( i.e. “lost her…” He had no right to do that to us, but thank you, old sport) and intentional choices that feel both fresh and emotionally grounded. From his very first note, the audience is immediately disarmed; drawn in by a refined, velvety sound that feels effortless yet precise. Opposite Daisy, his chemistry is palpable, crafting a relationship that feels youthful, aching, and beautifully woven with longing and desire.

The actress portraying Daisy Buchanan, Senzel Ahmady, is nothing short of stunning, delivering a performance that is as layered as it is haunting. Beneath her polished façade lies a quiet ache that permeates every moment, wrapping the audience up in both her charm and her contradictions. Ahmady crafts Daisy in a way that makes you question your allegiance. She invites empathy while never shying away from the character’s more elusive, even frustrating qualities. There’s a visible weight to her performance, as if every smile is carefully constructed to mask the scars of a woman worn down by a tumultuous relationship. The ensemble is an engine that keeps this production moving with irresistible energy, delivering lively, full-bodied vocals that consistently elevate each musical moment. Beyond their sound, their precision and grace in executing some of the smoothest, most elegant scene transitions you’ll see on stage is nothing short of remarkable. Set pieces glide, moments shift, and the story flows seamlessly without ever breaking momentum. They don’t simply support the action; they enrich it, filling out Gatsby’s world with unmatched artistic verve.

Having seen the original Broadway production of The Great Gatsby, there was a fair amount of skepticism going into this national tour, particularly given the seemingly unfillable holes that lingered in its initial staging. However, this touring production rises to the challenge, thoughtfully addressing many of those concerns with clearer storytelling, stronger character development, and a more cohesive overall vision. What emerges is an energetic production that not only redeems many of its predecessor’s shortcomings, but showcases some of the brightest touring talent on the road today, resulting in a performance that feels both revitalized and compelling.

The Great Gatsby concludes its run at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on Sunday, April 19th, and continues its tour at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago, IL.

Fox Cities Performing Arts Center Unveils Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program Recognition Recipients

In a landmark 10th anniversary season, the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center's Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program has named its 2025-26 recognition recipients, highlighting the talent and contributions of more than 2,200 participating students across 34 area schools.

The Center Stage Program was launched in 2016 as an education initiative that celebrates and supports the achievements of high school musical theater while developing confidence, creativity, and collaboration among high school students throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Educational opportunities are provided all season long for students and educators to learn and grow together in their craft.

A team of trained adjudicators attended the participating schools' musical productions and provided educational feedback. Scores for each production were tabulated, and applications were reviewed to determine the program recognition recipients. Participating schools and recognition recipients will be celebrated when the program culminates in a red-carpet, Tony Awards style showcase at the Center on May 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

"Reaching the 10th anniversary of the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program is a profound milestone for our community," said Chief Programming Officer Amy Gosz. "Over the past decade, we have watched this program grow into a vital platform for young artists to build confidence and lasting relationships. Seeing the immense talent and heart these students bring to the stage after ten years of excellence is truly inspiring. As we celebrate ten years of the Center Stage Program at the Showcase on May 16, we are honored to continue supporting the next generation of artists and creative leaders."

The Weidner has announced that comedian Preacher Lawson will perform on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

Lawson is known for his high-energy stand-up, combining physical comedy with personal storytelling. He first gained national attention as a finalist on America’s Got Talent and has since built a global following through touring, social media, and independently released comedy specials.

Raised in a military family, Lawson often draws on his experiences growing up and moving frequently, with material focused on relationships, resilience, and everyday challenges. In addition to his stand-up work, he has appeared on NBC programming and Netflix Is a Joke, and has performed at major comedy festivals.

One could be forgiven for feeling a little burned out on Wicked these days. After two super-sized movies and a press tour that seemed to last a decade, Wicked-mania feels a bit on the wane. However, there is no substitute for seeing this show live on stage. This show is more relevant than ever, and the current touring cast are exceptional.

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It catapults the ordinarily rational into webs of what-ifs and immobilizes presence in the now. But what if you could turn back time to fix that one regret or evaluate outcomes of disparate decisions. Would you do it, or would you choose to accept your past as part of you. Safety Not Guaranteed at Signature Theatre takes that exact journey and winds up in an alt-indie-rock concert with a semblance of sci-fi and human connection. Much like most time machines however, it’s transcendent in theory but lacks flawless execution in reality.
