It is absolutely ravishing, and Seattle audiences are lining up hours early to witness the spectacle for themselves.

RAGTIME Will Come to the New Stage Theatre This Month

Ragtime is returning to the New Stage Theatre. Based on the novel by E. L. Doctorow, Ragtime features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The Tony Award-winning musical will continue with additional performances June 11–13 at 7:00 p.m. and June 14 at 2:00 p.m.

Set at the dawn of the 20th century, Ragtime paints a sweeping portrait of a nation in transition. Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing New York City, the musical follows the interconnected lives of three families: a white upper-middle-class family from New Rochelle, an African American musician and his girlfriend in Harlem, and a Jewish immigrant and his daughter on the Lower East Side.

As their stories unfold, audiences encounter some of the era’s most influential figures, including Harry Houdini, Booker T. Washington, J. P. Morgan, and Henry Ford. Through their intersecting journeys, the musical explores themes of race, class, identity, opportunity, and the pursuit of the American Dream.

Ragtime remains one of the most celebrated American musicals of the modern era. Its powerful score and deeply human story continue to resonate with audiences, offering a moving reflection on the challenges and possibilities that define the American experience.

The production is recommended for ages 12 and older. Tickets are now available for the newly added performances through June 14.

BroadwayWorld Launches Producer Fantasy Game

Ever watched the weekly Broadway grosses roll in and thought you could pick the winners? Now you can put it to the test. BroadwayWorld has launched the Producer Fantasy Game, a free, season-long competition that lets theatre fans build a roster of Broadway shows and earn points based on how those productions actually perform at the box office. The draft window is open now.

How It Works

The setup is simple. During the draft window, you pick any six Broadway productions that opened this season. Drafting is non-exclusive, so there is no need to race a rival for a hot title. Any number of players can roster the same show.

From there, your shows go to work for you. Every week, each production on your roster earns fantasy points based on its reported box office grosses and capacity percentages. When Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations and wins are announced, your shows bank bonus points on top of that. And each week you can answer our Fantasy Forecast prediction questions for up to five bonus points per correct call.

Weekly Scoring

Each week, a show earns one base point for every $50,000 it grosses, so a $1 million week is worth 20 base points. On top of that, shows can earn bonuses: up to five points for filling seats (based on how close to full capacity the house ran), six points for grossing $2 million or more (or three points for grossing between $1 million and $2 million), and eight points if its gross jumped at least 15 percent from the week before. A show loses four points if its gross dropped at least 15 percent. If a show goes dark and reports no gross for a week, it scores zero for that week with no penalty.

The Fantasy Forecast

The Producer Fantasy Game is really two games in one. The first is the box office game: drafting shows and earning points from their weekly grosses and awards. The second is the Fantasy Forecast, a weekly set of prediction questions about what's happening on Broadway, where each correct answer is worth up to five points. You can play one or both.

We track them separately so you can shine at either. Your Producer score covers the box office game, your Forecast score covers your prediction results, and your Combined score adds the two together for the overall championship ranking. The leaderboard lets you toggle between Overall, Producers, and Forecasters, so a sharp predictor can top the Forecasters board even during a rough season for their roster, and a roster powerhouse can lead the Producers board without answering a single question.

Managing Your Roster

Your lineup stays at six shows all season, and you have plenty of room to maneuver. You get one free drop every week, three additional season drops to use anytime before the trade deadline, and free replacements whenever a show on your roster closes. New productions open throughout the season and become available the moment they start reporting grosses, so it pays to keep a transaction in your pocket for that buzzy new opening.

Draft within the first two weeks of the season and your roster is scored from opening week, so the earlier you get in, the more weeks you bank. SONIC LIVE IN CONCERT to Launch Global Tour With US and UK Premieres

As Sonic the Hedgehog celebrates 35 years as one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time, Senbla and SEGA today announced Sonic Live In Concert (www.sonicliveinconcert.com). This new concert experience brings the music and moments of the beloved video games to the stage.

Featuring iconic moments and music from the very first game in 1991 through today, the production will debut in the U.S. at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on September 26, 2026, before making its European premiere at London's Eventim Apollo on September 30. The U.S. tour will visit more than 30 cities nationwide, and a UK tour will follow in February 2027. More European dates will be announced at a later time. Tickets will go on sale May 29, 2026, with pre-sale tickets going on sale on May 28, 2026.

As part of a global rollout celebrating the franchise's milestone anniversary, Sonic Live In Concert features the most recognizable music from the Sonic universe, performed by a live ensemble alongside rock musicians, vocalists, and electronic elements. The setlist includes fan-favorite tracks and an incredible array of music from the very first game through to today accompanied by synchronized HD footage of iconic levels, moments and boss battles from the franchise. COMING HOME: BECOMING AN ARTIST Exhibition to Open at Dusti Bongé Art Foundation

Dusti Bongé Art Foundation (DBAF) has announced its summer exhibition tracing the emergence of Mississippi's native daughter as an artist in her own right following the death of her husband Archie Bongé in 1936.

An academically trained artist, Archie died two years after the couple-who married in 1928-settled in Dusti's hometown of Biloxi with their young son in 1934. Coming Home: Becoming an Artist comprises 34 works on paper and paintings of which 19 are by Dusti along with sketchbook drawings.

From the early 1920s to the early 1930s, Dusti was pursuing a career in the theater in Chicago and Archie was building his reputation as a painter in New York City. Once married, they started making frequent trips to visit family and friends on the Gulf Coast and in New Orleans. On these trips, Archie would often sketch and paint local scenes and Dusti started occasionally joining him in this activity.

Archie built a light-filled studio behind their home and continued his artistic pursuits. Dusti started spending more time working alongside him in the studio and accompanying him on outings to capture local scenes of the vibrant coastal city. Recognizing his wife's innate talent, Archie encouraged her. She heeded his advice to forego art school, learning instead from observation and experimentation. Devastated by his tragic and untimely death from ALS, Dusti picked up his paint brushes and embarked on her storied, lifelong practice.

Whereas Archie's drawings and paintings were mostly rendered in traditional academic style, Dusti's almost immediately took on a more modern quality. Although her very early pieces are figurative, they are not rendered in any kind of strictly realist manner.

Römer, Ph.D., DBAF Executive Director, said, "In a poignant celebration of Archie and Dusti's brief years together working side by side, yet also in remembrance of the solemn circumstances leading up to Dusti's launch as a professional artist, we are presenting this selection of some of Archie's last works and some of Dusti's earliest. After Archie's passing, Dusti continued to hone her skills through hours of observing and sketching anything and everything around her, whether inside or outside, expansive scenes or intimate settings. We anticipate providing visitors with a moving experience-an artist who came home, faced personal loss, and emerged a pioneering Modernist."

About Dusti Bongé 1903-1993

Dusti Bongé, widely considered Mississippi's first Modernist painter, absorbed the lessons of Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism while remaining deeply rooted in the rhythms of the Gulf South. Her canvases oscillate between dreamlike figuration and gestural abstraction, drawing inspiration from the Gulf Coast's natural and built environments as well as the inner worlds of dreams, visions, and the psyche.

About the Dusti Bongé Art Foundation

The Dusti Bongé Art Foundation (DBAF/the Foundation) promotes the artistic legacy of Dusti Bongé, Mississippi's pioneering Abstract Expressionist painter, through exhibitions, conservation, scholarship, and education. Established in 1995 in Biloxi, the artist's hometown, the organization preserves and promotes her extensive and impressive oeuvre and is dedicated to increasing public awareness of and access to her work.

Since its inception, the Foundation has been engaged in advancing scholarship about the artist and cataloguing and conserving her artworks in its collection including the development of a digital catalogue raisonné to debut in 2028. In addition to placing several significant works with national institutions including the Mississippi Museum of Art, Morris Museum of Art, and National Museum of Women in the Arts, DBAF organizes exhibitions and provides loans to art institutions. Its on-site gallery showcases selections of work that explore Bongé's evolution from her earliest representational landscapes and portraits to experiments with Surrealism to her Abstract Expressionist masterworks. The Foundation's holdings include an extensive selection of her work in a variety of media, including oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, pen and ink sketches, mixed media works, tempera on paper, and ceramics.

SHREK THE MUSICAL Will Come to Beau Rivage Theatre in June

A Broadway favorite is heading to the Mississippi Gulf Coast this summer when “Shrek The Musical” arrives at the Beau Rivage Theatre in Biloxi beginning June 11, 2026. The production will run through July 2, 2026, bringing the Tony Award-winning stage adaptation of the DreamWorks animated film to audiences across the region.

The musical follows the story of the unlikely hero Shrek, a lovable ogre whose quiet swamp life is turned upside down when a group of fairy tale characters invades his home. Joined by the wisecracking Donkey and Princess Fiona, Shrek embarks on a journey that blends comedy, romance and heart with a score by Jeanine Tesori and a book by David Lindsay-Abaire. The family-friendly production includes songs such as “Big Bright Beautiful World” and “I’m a Believer.”

Performances are scheduled on multiple dates throughout the engagement at the Beau Rivage Theatre inside Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi. Ticket prices currently start $25, with select performances offering additional seating options and premium packages. Several dates already have tickets on sale, including June 12, June 13 and June 24 performances.

The North American Tour of THE NOTEBOOK hasannounced engagements for the 2026-27 season, adding 26 cites to the previously announced route, including stops in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, and Houston. The tour began performances on September 6, 2025, at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio, and has welcomed over 500,000 patrons to date.

Allie and Noah, two people from different worlds, share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart in a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love. Based on the book that has sold millions of copies worldwide and a film that is one of the highest-grossing romantic dramas of all-time, the musical adaptation of THE NOTEBOOK played Broadway at the Schoenfeld Theatre from March 2024 to December 2024 following a critically acclaimed world premiere engagement at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in the fall of 2022.

THE NOTEBOOK features music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter (writer and producer on NBC's “This Is Us,” The Cake). The production is directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, RENT) and Schele Williams (Aida, The Wiz), with choreography by Katie Spelman (Associate Choreographer on Moulin Rouge! The Musical).

The creative team for the tour includes scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. StageMag Launches Programmable PDF Editor for Digital Theater Programs

StageMag, the digital show program platform from BroadwayWorld, today launched its new PDF Editor to all producers and stage managers using the service. The tool gives editors granular, real-time control over how their digital program renders as a downloadable or printable PDF - the format most often used in lobby printouts, accessibility packets, and press kits.

Until now, the StageMag-to-PDF path was a one-shot export: whatever fit, fit. The new editor turns the export into a configurable surface. Each section of a program including the cast list, song list, director's note, bios, advertisements, sponsor pages, articles, listings and more — can be individually told how to paginate. Editors choose between three strategies per section:

Flow: natural pagination, sections may split across pages.
Own page: start the section on a fresh page.
Fit one page: start fresh and scale the section to occupy the whole page.

A live preview pane re-renders the PDF on every change, so editors see the final printed result as they work rather than guessing and re-exporting.Beyond the strategy picker, the editor exposes a set of advanced controls familiar to anyone who has hand-tuned a long-form print document: hide-element selectors (drop sponsor strips or vestigial nav from the print version), forced page breaks before or after named elements, a draggable section-order list, custom header/footer/watermark text, and a custom-CSS escape hatch for theaters whose programs follow a house style.

The release also includes paper-level controls including US Letter or A4, portrait or landscape, three margin presets, three type scales, and a "booklet" mode that adds a binding gutter for stapled lobby printouts.

The PDF Editor is available now to all StageMag-enabled productions at no additional cost, under the Share PDF tab in the program editor. Existing programs render with sensible defaults; the new controls are opt-in and per-production.

Mississippi Museum Of Art to Present 'Photography And The Black Arts Movement, 1955–1985'

Mississippi Museum of Art (MMA/the Museum) will present Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955-1985, a landmark exhibition exploring the work of American and Afro-Atlantic diaspora photographers and artists working with photography in developing and fostering a distinctly Black visual culture and identity. Investigating the medium's role in the Black Arts Movement, which evolved concurrently with the American civil rights and international freedom movements, the exhibition reveals how artists developed strategies to engage communities and encourage self-representation during the turbulent decades of the mid-20th century.

Organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, where the exhibition debuted, it is on view at MMA from July 25 to November 8, 2026. Prior to MMA, Photography and the Black Arts Movement was presented at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles.

The exhibition comprises approximately 150 works, spanning photography, video, collage, painting, installation, and other lens-based media, some of which have rarely or never been on public view. Among the over 100 artists included in the exhibition are Billy Abernathy (Fundi), Romare Bearden, Dawoud Bey, Frank Bowling, Kwame Brathwaite, Roy DeCarava, Louis Draper, David C. Driskell, Charles Gaines, James E. Hinton, Danny Lyon, Gordon Parks, Adrian Piper, Nellie Mae Rowe, Betye Saar, Raymond Saunders, Jamel Shabazz, Lorna Simpson, and Carrie Mae Weems.

Photography and the Black Arts Movement is drawn principally from the National Gallery's collection-including more than 50 newly acquired works by Dawoud Bey, Kwame Brathwaite, Louis Draper, Ray Francis, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, Horace Ové, Jamel Shabazz, Malik Sidibé, Ming Smith, and Carrie Mae Weems, among others-and from lenders in the U.S., Great Britain, and Canada.

This expansive selection of work showcases the broad cultural exchange between writers, musicians, photographers, filmmakers, and other visual artists of many backgrounds, who came together in the mid-20th century to grapple with social and political changes, the pursuit of civil rights, and the emergence of the Pan-African movement through art. The exhibition also includes art from Africa, the Caribbean, and Great Britain to contextualize global engagement with the Black Arts Movement.

Images feature prominent civil rights leaders, artists, and musicians as well as everyday people, bringing together studio, press, and street photography with photographs that were originally created and circulated in fashion, commercial, political, and journalistic contexts. Structured around thematic sections-including explorations of community, fashion and beauty, the media, and ritual-the exhibition evokes a holistic vision of the period, its far-reaching cultural impact, and the breadth and texture of Black identity.

Photographs were a crucial tool used to communicate the events of the civil rights movement to a national and international audience. Artists and news media understood the power of photographs to address inequality and advocate for civil and human rights. Some works in the exhibition are by photojournalists who captured the speeches, marches, and sit-ins that indelibly recorded and helped define the era.

The Black Arts Movement was also instrumental in reshaping fashion, advertising, and media as tools of self-representation and cultural empowerment, prompting advertisers to engage Black audiences more thoughtfully by hiring Black photographers and models in their campaigns.

MMA's presentation is distinguished by a partnership with Jackson State University's Margaret Walker Center, which operates the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) Learning Center. COFO was the epicenter of the modern civil rights movement in Mississippi and served as the organizational home for Freedom Riders in 1964. It was notably one of the only initiatives to successfully unify a coalition of activist organizations in the fight for civil rights that included the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and a host of local organizations.

To highlight COFO's pivotal contributions to the history of civil rights, MMA has produced supplementary wall labels in the exhibition's section on activism and provides expanded resources on its Bloomberg Connects app. In addition, MMA's presentation includes rarely seen photographs taken at Jackson State University (formerly Jackson State College) in 1973, during the inaugural Phillis Wheatley Poetry Festival, organized by poet Margaret Walker. The photographs capture leading Black women writers of the Black Arts Movement, including Audre Lorde, Alice Walker, Sonia Sanchez, and Nikki Giovanni, who gathered at the festival for readings, conversations, and cultural exchange.

MMA Associate Curator of Exhibitions Kaegan Sparks said, "Our goal of partnering with COFO and the Margaret Walker Center for this powerful presentation is to amplify the singular role that Mississippi played in galvanizing both the Civil Rights and Black Arts Movements. Photographers from Mississippi include Doris Derby and Roy Lewis. Documentation by Bob Fletcher, Doug Harris, Danny Lyon, and Tamio Wakayama vividly portray the aftermath of Freedom Summer and the formation of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party in 1964-two civil rights milestones organized by COFO."

Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955-1985 is organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. It is curated by Philip Brookman, consulting curator of photographs at the National Gallery of Art, and Deborah Willis, university professor and chair of the department of photography and imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts and director of the Center for Black Visual Culture at New York University. The exhibition has been overseen at MMA by Kaegan Sparks, associate curator of exhibitions, and Chase Quinn, creative director and curator of special projects.

Published by the National Gallery of Art in association with Yale University Press, the fully illustrated catalogue accompanying the exhibition examines the vital role photography played in the evolution of the Black Arts Movement, which brought together writers, filmmakers, and artists as they explored ways of using art to advance civil rights and Black self-determination. Edited by Philip Brookman and Deborah Willis, with a preface by Angela Y. Davis and contributions by Makeda Best, Margo Natalie Crawford, Romi Crawford, Cheryl Finley, Sarah Lewis, and Audrey Sands, the publication reveals how photographs operated across art, community building, journalism, and political messaging to contribute to the development of a distinctly Black art and culture. Essays by these distinguished scholars focus on topics such as women and the movement, community, activism, and Black photojournalism, and consider the complex connections between American artists and the African diaspora, and the dynamic interchange of Pan-African ideas that propelled the movement.

In OPERATION MINCEMEAT: A NEW MUSICAL, it's 1943, and the Allied Forces are on the ropes. Luckily, they've got a trick up their sleeve. RAGTIME Will Launch National Tour in Fall 2027

Lincoln Center Theater’s Broadway revival of Ragtime, directed by Kewsong Lee Artistic Director Lear deBessonet, announced today that it will launch a North American Tour in the fall of 2027. The tour will premiere at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York, before continuing onto cities across the U.S. and Canada. Additional tour stops and casting will be announced at a later date.

Lincoln Center Theater’s limited engagement of Ragtime has been extended twice by popular demand with performances now through August 2, 2026. The production set a new box office record at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and was recently nominated foreight Drama Desk Awards, six Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet), as well as five Drama League Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical and Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet).

Written by Tony Award and Olivier Award winner Cole Escola and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway on July 11, 2024, and continues to play at the Lyceum Theatre, where it became the first show in the theatre’s 121-year history to gross more than $1,000,000 in a single week. The rules are simple: play at least one BroadwayWorld game every day in May. That's it. Complete all 31 days and you'll earn one entry to win the prize pack. Tracking is automatic once you're logged in - your progress populates on the challenge page as you play, no manual check-ins required.

Jamestown Revival is an internationally recognized Americana and roots-rock band from Austin, Texas, whose sound and songwriting have earned them a devoted following worldwide. The band has appeared at music festivals such as Austin City Limits, Farm Aid, and Coachella, among others.

NEWSIES Unseats LES MISÉRABLES to Win BroadwayWorld's 2026 Ultimate Movie Musical Bracket

After six weeks of voting, BroadwayWorld readers have crowned Newsies the Ultimate Best Movie Musical in the 2026 edition of BroadwayWorld's Annual Bracket. The 1992 Disney film, directed by Kenny Ortega and featuring music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, defeated Les Misérables in the final round, ending the Tom Hooper-directed film's two-year winning streak.

In both 2024 and 2025, Les Misérables was voted as the Ultimate Best Musical of all time, making it the title to beat heading into this year's competition. Newsies, a perennial fan favorite that developed a devoted following after its theatrical release and has since been adapted for the Broadway stage, advanced through six rounds of head-to-head matchups before claiming the title.

Now in its third year, BroadwayWorld's Bracket invites readers to debate, defend, and ultimately crown the greatest movie musical of all time from a field selected by BroadwayWorld editors. Voting in the 2026 edition opened on Tuesday, February 24 and concluded on Sunday, April 12, with new matchups released each week.

Air Supply will bring their 50th Anniversary tour to MSU Riley Center this month. The performance will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 7:30 pm.

Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock have spent half a century honing their skills, harnessing their passion, and unleashing the beautifully intimate yet rockin’ romantic energy of the instantly identifiable ’80s hits that made them global superstars. After meeting in the Australian touring company of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” they formed Air Supply in May 1975.

Five consecutive singles reached the Billboard Top 5 in 1980-81 (“Lost in Love,” “All Out of Love,” “Every Woman in the World,” “The One That You Love,” “Here I Am”), followed by such other memorable hits as “Even the Nights Are Better” and “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.” Audiences still love them; they perform more than 100 concerts every year.

Jackson theatre audiences will soon experience a darkly comedic twist on a cult horror franchise when SAW The Musical arrives at Duling Hall for a limited two-night engagement in April 2026.

The production is part of the touring run of the off-Broadway parody, which reimagines the infamous SAW film series as an irreverent stage musical blending horror, satire, and original songs.

SAW The Musical hilariously captures the events of the first movie, parodying the Saw that started it all, following from where Lawrence Gordon and Adam Stanheight find each other for the first time in the bathroom trap. Will they follow "the rules" as they discover each other's secrets? Will they escape the game in time and saw right through? A love story with fluidity (and lots more fluids), SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw is Little Shop of Horrors meets Avenue Q , pushing the boundary on sexuality and how to love. The production will play April 14–15, 2026 at 7:30 PM at Duling Hall in Jackson, Mississippi. The show is presented as a staged musical parody that follows characters trapped in Jigsaw-style moral games, while simultaneously poking fun at the original films’ tone and legacy. It is intended for mature audiences due to its explicit comedic content and horror themes.
