The award-winning Sheyenne Theatre program is proud to present the regional premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Performances of this musical theatre phenomenon are scheduled February 10, 11, 17 & 18 @ 7:30pm and February 12 & 19 @ 2:30pm on the Sheyenne High School Main Stage.

Based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command.

The winner of seven Tony Awards, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA has gone on to become Broadway's longest running show with over 12,000 performances since its debut in 1988. Its sensational score includes: 'Think of Me,' 'Angel of Music,' 'Music of the Night,' 'All I Ask of You,' 'Masquerade' and the title song.

Sheyenne Theatre's production features a company of approximately 90 young artists in its cast, crew and pit orchestra under the direction of a team of teachers and professionals lead by veteran director, Adam Pankow. This title was chosen because of its challenging musical demands, unique technical elements and effects, and incredible audience appeal. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA has only recently been made available for production by amateur educational groups which makes Sheyenne Theatre among the first to perform the show in the United States outside of professional engagements on Broadway and on various national tours.
