Please prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues and 16 bars of an appropriate song. Please do not sing from Sunday in the Park with George. Bring two copies of your headshot and resume and also bring your Equity card

Julia Campbell
(40-50) Suburban mother of a teenage son. Beautiful and self possessed on the outside. On the inside, she’s as uncertain and insecure as everyone else.

Tate Campbell
(40-50) Suburban father of a teenage son. Handsome and successful. An all American facade that’s starting to crack. Dealing with a troubled marriage and a life he never wanted.

Connie Beckman
(40-50) Suburban mother of a teenage son. Fiercely protective of her family. Especially her son. Pretends to be strong, but is not. Hard edged sarcasm hides a lost soul.

Arlin Beckman
(CAST. Actors will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.) (40-50) Suburban father of a teenage son. A banker. Soft spoken and kind. Tends to let his wife do the talking. Worships his son, despite the fact that he hardly knows him anymore.

Val Wallace
(40-50) Suburban mother. Julia’s best friend. Intelligent and funny. Has no patience for cruelty or ignorance. Divorced. Having an affair with a married man.

George
(Male, 25-35, G#2-Ab4)
In Act 1: George Seurat, a rather cold artist obsessed with his work at the cost of his personal life. Constantly troubled and borderline obsessive. Act 2: Seurat's burnt-out descendant and inventor-sculpture searching for his purpose. In the end, he is able to use his connection to the past to find the meaning in a blank canvas.

Dot/Marie
(Female, 25-35, E3-D5)
As Dot, George's headstrong mistress and occasional model so discontent with their relationship that she even-tually leaves him. As Marie, George's elderly wheelchair-bound grandmother who helps him connect to his artistry through her grammar book notes.

Old Lady
(Female, 55-80, F#3-Eb5)
George's mother. A cranky and rather demanding fixture in the park. She is able to find solace in nostalgia, and inspires George to find order in his art. Doubles as BLAIR DANIELS.

Nurse
(Female, 40-60, G3-F4)
The Old Lady's attendant. She is calming and assertive. Doubles as HARRIET PAWLING and MRS.

Jules
(Male 25-45, G2-F4)
A rival artist. Callous, critical, and ultimately shallow. He forces Frieda to engage in extramarital affairs. Doubles as BOB GREENBERG.

Yvonne
(Female, 25-35, E3-Eb5)
Jules' pampered wife. She is as snippy and snooty as her husband. Doubles as NAOMI EISEN.

Boatman
(Male, 35-60, Eb2-Eb4)
A surly blue-collared laborer, simple-minded and slovenly. Doubles as CHARLES REDMOND.

Celeste #1
(Female, 18-25, B3-G5)
A young shop girl, gossipy and flirtatious. Her friendship with the other Celeste is strained when they fight over the Soldier and his companion. Doubles as A WAITRESS.

Celeste #2
(Female, 18-25, A3-G5)
Another young shop girl, gossipy and flirtatious. Her friendship with the other Celeste is strained when they fight over the Soldier and his companion. Doubles as ELAINE.

Louise
(Female, 10-12, G3-Eb5)
Jules and Yvonne's spoiled little girl. She faces neglect and abuse from her parents, despite being honest. Dou-bles as BOY.

Franz
(Male, 30-50, B2-G4)
Jules's German coachman and Freida's husband. Disgruntled with his job. Has a bit of a temper and secretly yearns for the Nurse. Doubles as DENNIS.

Frieda
(Female, 35-55, G3-F5)
Jules and Yvonne's cook and Franz's wife. Caring and positive as a surrogate nanny to Louise. Forced by Jules into an affair. Doubles as BETTY and YOUNG MAN.

Soldier
(Male, 25-35, A2-F4)
A French military man, polite and gentlemanly. Close with his companion, though he yearns for a separation. Doubles as ALEX.

Louis
(Male, 35-55, B2-A4)
A baker who Dot starts seeing to make George jealous. Kind, friendly, and very popular, but a bit dull. Doubles as BILLY WEBSTER and MAN.

THE CARETAKER

Aston:
(Male, 35-40) Troubled, shy, questioning, treated badly by the world, naïve, goodhearted, trusting. shy, reserved, and slow. He speaks haltingly and has trouble finishing projects. He reveals that when younger he was subject hallucinations, and then, against his will, was put into a mental facility and given electroshock treatment.

Mick:
(Male, 25-30) The younger brother of Aston, rather mysterious and complex. Intelligent and ambitious, and talks frequently about his projects and desires to expand. His dream is to fix up flat and live there with his brother.

Davies:
(Male, 55+) an itinerant and a tramp. Loud, confident, arrogant, with a martyr complex, believing that everyone else, particularly other races, is out to get him. His identity is questionable.
