Breakdown

Show Synopsis / Character Breakdown:
To the Moon is a world premiere comedy about a Ralph Kramden who longs to be a Jackie Gleason. Under-employed Scottie has a dream of making it big. Together with his unwilling wife and dim-witted best friend, he plans his own meteoric rise to fame on the coattails of “The Great One” himself.
All actors must be comfortable with improvisation and building / devising work in the rehearsal room.

Seeking:

Audrey/Nora
40s, female. Audrey is Scottie’s wife, works the perfume counter at Macy’s and has for 20 years. Loves Scottie and is a great foil for his bluster. Nora is Scottie’s boss, a micro-manager who is very insecure. This actress will also play Alice Kramden from The Honeymooners, a showgirl and a Margaret Dumont type dowager in fantasy/video sequences.

Roger/Doctors
30s-50s, male. Roger is Audrey’s best friend from the perfume counter. Slightly catty, the perfume counter is his dream job. This actor also plays a succession of foreign doctors – German, Russian, Slavic, Indian - that Scottie meets at his standardized patient job. Ability to realistically do multiple accents is a must as is strong physicality to differentiate character.

----------------------

The following 2 roles have been CAST. Actors may be considered for possible replacements if needed:

Scottie/Jackie
ROLE IS CAST. 40s, male. Based on Ralph Kramden from The Honeymooners, Scottie is a contemporary actor stuck with a job as a standardized patient. Married to Audrey, he has big dreams of achieving fame and making it “to the moon”. This actor also plays Jackie Gleason and multiple Gleason characters (Rum Dum, The Poor Soul, Reggie Van Gleason) in fantasy/video sequences. THIS ROLE HAS ALREADY BEEN CAST.

Lawton/Marvin
ROLE IS CAST. 40s, male. Lawton is Scottie’s best friend, based on Ed Norton from The Honeymooners. Also an actor but perfectly content to go from one bizarre acting job to the next. Will support Scottie in anything he does. Marvin is Jackie Gleason’s head writer. Smart and deferential. This actor also plays Ed Norton and a comic doctor in fantasy/video sequences. THIS ROLE HAS ALREADY BEEN CAST.
