JONATHAN
(Role now CAST) (Male late 20s – early 30s): Rock Tenor, Full voice to an A.
A talented, struggling composer about to turn 30; dealing with pressures of making money, settling down with his girlfriend, and becoming successful as a writer; vibrant, funny, neurotic; thinks too much and can be introspective; driven and visionary but not too cocky; preferably Jewish, but not necessary; piano skills a big plus (ideally Jonathan accompanies himself on parts of songs).
SUSAN
(Role now CAST) (Female late 20s – early 30s) Strong Belter to a C, with a mix to an E flat.
Jonathan’s longtime girlfriend and a teacher; strong, confident, and assertive; wants to move out of New York and get more security and comfort; realistic. Also doubles multiple roles. Seeking actors of all ethnicities, but particularly interested in casting this character as non-Caucasian.
MICHAEL
(male late 20s early 30s) Warm Bari-tenor, Full voice to an F -
Jonathan’s gay best friend from childhood; helpful, kind, funny and outgoing; can have explosive temper; successful and keeps himself busy to avoid his troubles. Also doubles multiple roles. Seeking actors of all ethnicities, but specifically interested in casting this character as non-Caucasian
