BREAKDOWN

Adult Kevin
(late 30s) - Voiced by Daniel Stern in the original series. Here, our grown-up narrator (in the unnamed mid-nineties) and a near-constant onstage presence, looking back on his early teens and commenting with nostalgia and, yes, wonder. Should possess an easy, regular-guy warmth, with a strong, rangy folk/rock tenor singing voice for everything from When I Grow Up to Be a Man to the iconic With a Little Help From My Friends.

Jack Arnold
(40s) - Played by Dan Lauria in the original series. Kevin's stern workhorse father, a tough (but not mean) wall of a guy who wants what's right for his family but struggles with the vocabulary and emotional intelligence to express it. Strong actor who sings for Cat's in the Cradle.

Norma Arnold
Role CAST. (40s) - Played by Alley Mills in the original series. Kevin’s doting mom, Norma has a leftover Leave it to Beaver spunk that hides her desire for women's liberation, both in and out of the house. Possesses both an earnest suburban glow and a raise-the-roof voice for Aretha Franklin's Respect and Circle Game. CAST

Karen Arnold
Role CAST. (adult actor 18+ to play 18) Played by Olivia d'Abo in the original series. Kevin’s flower child older sister, Karen is on the cusp of womanhood but still needs to borrow the car keys. Braided hair, acoustic guitar, Karen is a hippie with a matching Joni Mitchell voice to sing God Only Knows. CAST

Wayne Arnold
role CAST (adult actor 18+ to play 15) Played by Jason Hervey in the original series. Kevin’s bully older brother whose aimless teasing gives way to a softer side, culminating in Wayne joining the army. A strong folk bari-tenor voice for The Times They Are A'Changin', etc. CAST
