BREAKDOWN

THE NERD
Director: Marc Vietor
Playwright: Larry Shue

1st rehearsal: 6/6/17. 1st preview: 6/23/17. Opens: 6/24/17. Closes: 7/15/17

SEEKING

WILLUM
A Vietnam vet turned architect. Warm and appealing, though indecisive and to a frustrating fault, and at a standstill in life. In love with TANSY, but too afraid of commitment to stop her from moving to another city for work.

RICK
Role CAST. WILLUM’s Vietnam war buddy. The “nerd.” Odd, outlandish and outrageous. Socially inept.

AXEL
Male. WILLUM’s best friend. A theater critic. Intelligent and witty, with an acerbic sense of humor. Beneath the barbs, a very good friend.

TANSY
Role CAST. Female. WILLUM’s nearest and dearest. A weather forecaster on the brink of a move to DC.

WALDGRAVE
Role CAST. Male. A new client of WILLUM’s, and a self-made millionaire. A pompous real estate tycoon.

CLELIA
Female. WALDGRAVE’s wife. Frustrated and repressed – she carries around saucers to smash at will in order to avoid melt downs.

THOR
Male. WALDGRAVE and CLELIA's 8 year old son. A menace.
______________

OTHER DESERT CITIES
Director: Sheryl Kaller
Playwright: Jon Robin Baitz
1st rehearsal:8/1/17. 1st preview: 8/19/17. Opens:8/20/17. Closes:9/3/17

SEEKING:

POLLY
Role CAST. Female. A former scriptwriter (with sister SILDA) turned politician's wife. The ultimate matriarch and hostess. Has an unbreakable willpower. Devoted to her children, despite the complications.

LYMAN
Male. POLLY's husband. The patriarch. A former movie star and US Ambassador. Most certainly a Republican, with a steely façade but a deteriorating core. A family man.

BROOKE
Female. POLLY and LYMAN's liberal daughter. A depressive and a writer, whose latest work threatens to undermine and expose everything her parents stand for and have become. A bundle of contradictions, both fierce and fragile.

TRIP
Male. POLLY and LYMAN's son. Intelligent, attractive, quick-witted producer of reality television. Returns to his parents' home for an extended visit at the request of his frequently unstable older sister; struggles to remain even-handed and purposefully neutral in the face of family drama but finds himself back in the family soup despite his best efforts.

SILDA
Female. Late 60s +. POLLY's alcoholic sister, living with Polly and Lyman; bitter and ill, but has a wickedly and acerbicly funny sense of humor. The ultimate truth teller in the family.
