Breakdown

Synopsis:
Richard Singer, a dorky teenage boy is accused and thrown in jail for rape, tearing his parents apart. Now, nine years later, Richard is out of jail and his accuser is back in his life.

seeking:

HENRY SINGER:
(male, late 40s-50s) Father of Richard, husband of Sarah. He is stubborn and controlling toward his wife. Believes his son was wrongfully persecuted for the rape, putting pressure on their marriage. After his son is released from jail and returns home, Henry makes efforts to take care of him.

SARAH SINGER:
(female, early 40s) Mother of Richard, wife of Henry. Tolerant of her husband, but does not see the good in men. Believes her son was capable of rape. Feels pity for Elizabeth DeVaughn (Richard’s alleged victim) and her family.

RICHARD SINGER:
(male, 28) Son of Henry and Sarah. Returns to stay with his father in Texas. Extremely angry and short tempered. Treats women as items.

BETH MUMPHREY:
(female, 28) Very attractive young woman. Wrongfully throws Richard in jail for rape for the sake of her own well-being and reputation. Insecure.

MACY CUMMINGS:
(female, 18) Young woman. Very ambitious and organized. Speaks her mind. Has a naive quality about her.
