Seeking:

RENO SWEENEY
Female, 30-55, G3-Eb5, Alto/Belt. Charismatic nightclub singer, former evangelist. Clever, funny, persuasive, extremely confident. Strong singing and tap dancing required, as well as comedic timing.

HOPE HARCOURT
Female, 20-35, A4-Eb5. Soprano. Beautiful heiress with strong sense of duty. Willing to sacrifice love and marry to satisfy her mother’s wishes. Strong singing and dancing required including tap.

BILLY CROCKER
Male, 25-35, B3-G4. Baritone/Tenor. Young businessman who is in love with Hope, he charismatic and charming. Strong singing required and should be able to dance including tap.

LORD EVELYN OAKLEIGH
Male, 30-45, C3-G4. Baritone. Hope’s energetic, quirky, good-natured aristocratic fiancé. English accent, strong singing and the ability to move well also required.

EVANGELINE HARCOURT
Female, 40-65. Hope’s overbearing mother. Mainly concerned with money and social status. Must sing and move well.

MOONFACE MARTIN
Male, 30-60, Bb3-Gb4. Baritone. Loveable gangster who is loyal and willing to go the distance for a friend. Requires strong comic timing, plus the ability to sing and move well including some tap.

ERMA LATOUR
Female, 21-35, A4, C#5. Mezzo/Belt. Playful, independent, impulsive, loveably clueless ‘dame’ – a typical 20’s ‘gun moll’ with a ‘Joisey’ accent. Strong singing and dancing. Must tap.

ELISHA WHITNEY
Male, 45-60, C4-D4, Baritone. Successful Wall Street banker. Nearsighted. Thinks he is always right. Ability to move well is a plus.

REGINALD STRONG
Male, 50-60. Baritone. Captain of the S. S. American. Ability to move well is a plus.

ELVIS PRESLEY
20s; male; actor/singer/guitar player to portray Elvis in his 20s at beginning of his career. Must be familiar with his music and able to play guitar; should sound and look somewhat like Elvis without being an “impersonator”. In the production, Elvis sings: Memories Are Made Of This, That’s All Right, Long Tall Sally, Peace In The Valley, Party, Hound Dog

JERRY LEE LEWIS
20s; male; actor/singer/pianist; he was rock & roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated Last Man Standing. Must be a superb piano player, able to play like Jerry Lee Lewis; fun, energetic; comic skills a plus. In the production, Jerry Lee Lewis sings: Real Wild Child, Great Balls Of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On

CARL PERKINS
Mid 20s; male; actor/singer/guitar player (lead guitar); he was the American pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song Blue Suede Shoes; Must be an excellent lead guitarist. In the production, Carl Perkins sings: Matchbox, Who Do You Love?, My Babe, See You Later, Alligator

JOHNNY CASH
Mid 20s; male; actor/singer/guitar player to portray Johnny cash at the dawn of his epic career. Must be familiar with his music and able to play guitar; tall; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an impersonator. In the production, Johnny Cash sings: Folsom Prison Blues, Sixteen Tons, I Walk The Line, Riders In The Sky

DYANNE
18-30; female; excellent actor and singer; she was an aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend; attractive; great singer with a wide range; sings solos and back-up throughout the show; sings ‘Fever’ in her alto range and covers the high soprano part of Riders In The Sky (Johnny Cash song). In the production, Dyanne sings Fever and I Hear You Knockin’.

SAM PHILLIPS
Excellent actor; Father of Rock’n’Roll and founder of Sun Records who discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and many others including Roy Orbison and B.B. King; a towering and charismatic figure in American music

W.S. ‘FLUKE’ HOLLAND: male; any age; excellent drummer. Some singing a plus.

JAY PERKINS
Male; 30s Carl Perkin’s older brother; excellent bass player; sings back-up on many songs throughout the evening.

BERNADETTE
Male, 40s – 50s. Quietly dignified transsexual who must be convincing as an older woman who was once the star performer of ‘Les Girls.’ The mother of the group, Bernadette is glamorous, oozing Old Hollywood charm with rapier wit and sensitivity. Must be able to be convincing and touching in her attraction and growing relationship with Bob. Outstanding acting, singing (range adaptable), dancing, and lip-synching ability.

MITZI/TICK
Male, 30s. With an unremarkable and essentially straight exterior, Tick is a discontented drag queen, the best in the business. Estranged husband of Marion. Absent father to 8-year-old Benji, his journey from disillusionment to fulfillment through being reunited with his son is the central core of the story. Outstanding acting, singing (baritone/tenor), and dancing ability.

FELICIA/ADAM
Male, 20s. Flashy, sexy drag queen. Born performer with more than occasional bitchy streak. Provocative and outspoken. Has a tendency to get himself into trouble with both friends and complete strangers. Very well-maintained physical features. Outstanding acting, singing (tenor), dancing, and lip-synching ability.

BOB
Male, 40s – 60s. Mechanic. Typical laconic attitude, soft-hearted Aussie bloke who spent years wandering around the world only to find he was better off where he started. Has a fascination with Bernadette whom he saw perform in ‘Les Girls’ in Sydney more than 20 years ago. Outstanding acting ability; minimal singing ability.

SHIRLEY
Female, 30s – 50s. Hardened outback bartender/waitress. Good ironic comedy. Character acting, singing (solo and ensemble pieces), and dancing ability.

MARION
Female, mid 30s – early 40s. Hotel Entertainment Manager in Darwin, mother of 8-year-old Benjamin, estranged wife of Tick. Strong, direct, forthright woman who takes charge, but is incredibly accepting of her role as a single mother. There is a deep unconventional affection between her and Tick. Strong singing and acting. Will be required to sing and dance in ensemble numbers.

CYNTHIA
Female, late 20s – 30s, Asian. Bob’s feisty Filipino wife. Frustrated performer of obscure ‘stage tricks’ which make her very popular at the local pub. Spends her days as housewife looking after Bob and his home. Character acting, singing, and dancing ability essential. Must have a great physique.

MISS UNDERSTANDING
Male, 30s, African-American. Fabulous drag queen with great comic hosting ability. Sets up tone of the show for us—must be able to work a crowd well and look brilliant in drag. Ability to deliver Tina Turner numbers convincingly a must. Character acting, singing, and dancing ability, mostly all ensemble pieces with one key scene (the opening number).

FRANK
Male, late 20s – early 40s. Tough miner bloke with violent tendencies. Hardened resident of mining town Coober Pedy. Tall, strapping, very outback Australian. Character acting, singing, and dancing ability, mostly all ensemble pieces with one key scene.

JIMMY
Male, late 20s – 30s, African-American. Friendly indigenous Australian bloke that the queens run into in the desert. Innocent charm, great movement skills—any traditional dance a huge plus. Character acting, singing, and dancing ability, mostly all ensemble pieces with one key scene.

YOUNG BERNADETTE
Male, late 20s – mid 30s. Epitome of grace and glamour—gender illusion rather than drag—‘Les Girls’ at its most alluring. Also plays FARRAH, a young, beautiful, sassy drag queen in opening number. Must be brilliant mover and look stunning and believable as a woman. Character acting, singing, and dancing ability, mostly all ensemble pieces with one key scene.

Female, Age Flexible, Bb3-Eb5. One of Frank’s servants.

BRAD
Male, 26-35, Bb2-G4. Quirky; very much in love with fiancé, Janet. Overly optimistic at times.

JANET
Female, 26-35, A3-Eb5. Good girl; madly in love with Brad. Always seems frightened of something. Keeps losing more of her clothes throughout story. Emotionally weak; caves into pressure easily.

NARRATOR
Male, Age Flexible, Non-Singing Role. Follows our two hero’s through the story by narrating directly to the audience.

RIFF RAFF
Male, 25-40, D3-B4. Creepy man resembling more of a zombie. Often makes harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding. One of Frank’s servants.

COLUMBIA
Female, Age Flexible, E4-E5. One of Frank’s servants.

FRANK 'N' FURTER
Male Transvestite, 30-45, D3-G4. Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a man to be part of his sexual entourage. Master of seduction.

ROCKY
Male 18-30, A3-G4. Frank’s magnificent creation. Sexually appealing with prominent muscles.

EDDIE/DR. SCOTT
Male, 28-40, E3-F#4. Eddie, delivery man, ‘went to pieces.’ Misses the rock and roll of life. Comes back to life only to die after his solo. Scott is Eddie’s Uncle
