SEEKING:

[FEMALE SINGER SWING / 2nd ASM] Female, African-American, mid 20s – 30s. To cover the onstage ensemble and the featured roles of SQUEAK (Harpo's lover after Sofia leaves him. Although she is mistreated, she eventually undergoes a transformation, demanding to be called by her actual name, Mary Agnes, and starting a new life. She is of mixed ancestry. Attractive, sassy, fiery, strong-willed, unafraid to take anybody on, has chutzpah and a caring heart), OLIVIA (Celie's daughter grown up. No text) and CHURCH LADIES (A trio of busybody types who love to gossip about the people of their town. They comment on the action throughout the show). Must be a fantastic actress, with a high belt voice who sings very well. An understanding of contemporary pop or gospel music is must. This track will also be the Second Assistant Stage Manager and she will be trained on the ASM deck duties. This is an off-stage track. SM/ENSEMBLE
