ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Seeking:
Alice
Ingenue, mezzo soprano, curious girl, full of energy. 18 to 25.
Emily/Duchess
mezzo soprano, down to earth, normal child, doubles as Duchess, a zany lady with a baby pig. She is slightly (okay-very) over the top. 20 to 40.
White Rabbit
Character actor, baritone, nervous fellow, very confident even around the Queen of Hearts. 25 to 55.
Caterpillar/Mad Hatter
Baritone, comedic character actor, two very zany roles, must be agile. The Caterpillar is snooty. 25 to 55.
Cheshire Cat/Dormouse - comic character actress, mezzo soprano, foil for Caterpillar when Cat. Slinks around and smiles mysteriously. Dormouse is Mad Hatter's partner. Both talk very quickly and in circles. 20 to 55.
Knave of Hearts
Juvenile, Baritone/Tenor. He somewhat the sane one, but is frightened by the Queen and fears for his life. 18 to 25.
Governess/Queen of Hearts
Character actress, mezzo soprano/soprano. Governess is tough-nosed nanny who
believes in strict rules and no nonsense. Queen is tough nosed, but all nonsense. Very broad comedic style. 30 to 55.

Oldest Son/Old Farmer/Ogre
Character Actor, baritone. Plays a not too smart Miller's son, an amiable Farmer in the field, and a mean hideous Ogre. 30 to 55.
Middle Son/King
Character actor, Baritone. Plays a not too smart Miller's middle son and is a gullible, jolly King. 25 to 55.
Youngest Son
Young leading man, baritone/tenor, insecure, hapless young man who is transformed into the Marquis de Carrarbas by his cat. 20 to 30.
Princess/Farmer's Wife
Mezzo Soprano, Main character is Princess who is smitten by the Marquis and his adventures. 20 to 50. Farmer's wife is older.

Juvenile, baritone/tenor, must move well, be able to play young teenager. Likable young boy who doesn't always listen and gets into boyish troubles.
Gretel
Ingenue, mezzo soprano/soprano, must move well. Young teenager. Is younger sister to Hansel. Relies a lot on him, but is true to herself and gets stronger and more independent.
Mother/Guardian Angel
Character Actress, mezzo soprano/soprano. Mother is hard-working housewife, who loves her children, but is desperate to make ends meet. Guardian Angel watches over Hansel and Gretel in the woods. 35 to 55.
Father/Sandman
Character actor, Baritone. Father is hardworking broom maker, diligent and loving. Sandman must have comic timing, watches over children in the woods. 35 to 55.
Foxy Freda
Actress, mezzo soprano, bewitched young woman who entices children to witch's house. 18-25.
Rosinna Rubylips Daintymouth
Character Actress, Soprano. The gingerbread witch who looks like your
loving grandmother, but is cunning, devious, mean, and notorious for baking children into cookies. 35 to 50. Must have comic timing.
