(Male, 25-35, African American, Tenor D3-C5) Man #1 is the energetic optimist of the tight four-person ensemble that makes up Songs For A New World. He begins the show searching for hope in “On the Deck of a Spanish Sailing Ship,” then leads the company in the exciting “Steam Train” song. His final solo, “King of the World” is one of Jason Robert Brown’s best and most complex songs; dealing with freedom and the right to dream.
