Seeking
All roles are open. Actors must be able to have great acting, vocal and dance/movement abilities. Ensemble actors will understudy lead roles.

Preparation
Please prepare a 32 bars of a song either from the show or in the style of the show. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together. Accompanist provided. Dance Callbacks are after the call. For the callbacks, wear clothing that shows off your body. Please have tap & character shoes.

Breakdown

Don Lockwood
25 – 30’s Silent matinee idol, who oozes charisma. Must convincingly woo Kathy and the audience with his wit and charm. He has come from lowly beginnings but he weaves a story to help create his own movie career, where his reality merges with his screen persona. Charming, witty, Bari-Tenor with Strong Ballet and Tap Skills.

Kathy Seldon
19 - 28 A young and up-coming actress who isn’t dazzled by Don’s star status. Forthright, honest and determined and should be independent and smart. Strong willed, smart. Don Lockwood’s love interest. (Singer - Mezzo with mixed belt to C and legit to E, Dancer - strong tap jazz and Ballet.

Cosmo Brown
25 – 30’s An excellent verbal and physical comedian, he is Don’s best friend from childhood. strong comedic timing, Singer - Tenor to Ab, Dancer - especially tap, pianist a plus). HE IS A CLOWN.

Lina Lammont
25 - 30 Uber glamorous silent screen star, off screen a crass and brash women with the famously annoying voice. (Actress with comedic timing, Singer - Character Voice, Mezzo or Soprano to Eb).

R.F. Simpson
40 + Head of Monumental Pictures, a powerful yet likeable businessman. Head of the film studio.

Roscoe Dexter
40 + Highly strung film director for Monumental Pictures, comedic character doesn’t deal with stress well.

Dora Bailey
40 + A society radio reporter and gossip columnist. Ruby Wax meets Mrs. Merton, she is the public eyes and ears in Hollywood. Over-exaggerated, bubbly columnist and radio personality. this character may double as MISS DINSMORE. (Lina Lamonts frustrated Vocal Coach).
