Seeking actors of all ages, genders and ethnicities. See breakdown for more information.

Preparation
2 Classical monologues, one by shakespeare, no longer than 3 minutes combined. Actors who can sing may be asked to provide some a capella song, no longer than 30 seconds in length.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM

Theseus/Oberon (M): Roles will be doubled. Both a soldier and a philosopher, Theseus is the powerful Duke of Athens who is engaged to Hippolyta. Oberon is the King of the fairies and at odds with his wife Titania over the control of a young human Prince. Easily moved to jealousy.

Hippolyta/Titania (F): Roles will be doubled. Hippolyta is the Queen of the Amazons and betrothed Theseus. Titania is the Queen of the fairies who clashes with her husband Oberon over the fate of her changeling boy. She is tricked into seducing Nick Bottom with one of Puck’s love potions. Passionate and possessive.

Philostrate/Puck (M/F): Roles will be doubled. Philostrate is the Master of revels for Theseus. The sprite Puck is Oberon’s quick-witted and mischievous magical servant with the capacity for both cruelty and fun-loving humor.

Egeus (M/F): Hermia’s father/mother who insists she marry Demetrius even though she loves Lysander.

Hermia (F): Daughter to Egeus and in love with Lysander. Childhood friend of Helena’s. Self-conscious about her short stature.

Helena (F): Hermia’s best friend from childhood and desperately in love with Demetrius.

Lysander (M): A young Athenian, in love with Hermia but unable to marry her because her father Egeus favors Demetrius for her husband.

Demetrius (M): A young man of Athens who pursues Hermia but ultimately falls in love with Helena.

Nick Bottom (M): A weaver by trade this over-confident and self-absorbed member of an acting troupe known as The Mechanicals believes he can play every part better than everyone though he is cast to play Pyramus, the tragic lover. He is a pawn in the clash between Oberon and Titania when Puck uses his magic to turn him into a donkey and make Titania believe she is in love with him.

Peter Quince (M/F): A carpenter who is the leader of The Mechanicals. Quince delivers the Prologue in Pyramus and Thisbe, the play rehearsed in the forest and performed for Theseus’ wedding celebration.

HAMLET

Claudius (M): King of Denmark and Hamlet’s uncle and step-father.

Gertrude (F): Queen of Denmark, mother to Hamlet, recently married to Claudius, and widow to Hamlet’s deceased father.

Ophelia (F): Daughter to Polonius and in love with Hamlet.

Laertes (M): Son to Polonius and brother to Ophelia.

Polonius (F): Mother to Laertes and Ophelia and Lord Chamberlain of Claudius’s court.

Rosencrantz (F): A courtier and friend to Hamlet and Guildenstern who is summoned by Gertrude and Claudius to investigate Hamlet’s strange behavior.

Guildenstern (F): A courtier and friend to Hamlet and Rosencrantz who is summoned along with Rosencrantz to look into Hamlet’s odd behavior.

Ghost of Hamlet’s Father (M): King Hamlet, father to Prince Hamlet. The Ghost who claims to have been murdered by his brother Claudius.

Gravedigger (M/F): The witty digger of Ophelia’s grave.

The Roles of Hamlet and Horatio have been cast.
